CNN Suspends Roland Martin Over Controversial ‘Gay’ Super Bowl Tweets

CNN Suspends Roland Martin Following Gay Super Bowl TweetsCNN’s Roland Martin has been suspended over controversial Super Bowl tweets he sent on Sunday evening. The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple has more:

On Super Bowl Sunday, Roland Martin of CNN issued some homophobic tweets that got him in trouble with gay organizations and this blog. CNN stayed silent on the matter, until just moments ago, when it issued this statement:

“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive. Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated. We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”

The Huffington Post adds:

The move came three days after Martin caused an outcry by tweeting that people should “smack the ish” out of any male fans of an underwear ad starring David Beckham. He also made fun of a New England Patriots player who arrived wearing a pink jumpsuit. “He needs a visit from #teamwhipdatass,” Martin wrote.

On Monday, The Blaze reported that the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) called Martin out and has been actively advocating for the network to fire him.

Glenn Beck discussed Martin’s tweets earlier this week on his radio show. Watch, below:

This is a breaking news story. Stay tuned for updates.

Of course, 8 million strait men watching that ad, or seeing the guy in pink, were probably thinking or saying the same thing… they just don’t happen to be public personalities!
If CNN had any balls, they would have told GLAD to pound sand! (how many homophobic innuendos can you find in my last statement… only GLAD will know!)

Ha, I also agree with Beck,” Let me hear what he has to say, I’ll make up my own mind.” At least I know who you are and what you stand for.
Roland has on many occasion said some pretty down right nasty/“stuck on stupid” things about the Right and Tea Party “on-air”….and he gets suspended for this?
Free speech is important to me….Dont like it? Change the channel.

Why is The Blaze labeling the Tweets as “homophobic”?
Why are we letting the left define the terms? That lets them frame the debate.
There was nothing “homophobic” (**** = Greek for same, Latin for Man and phobia = Latin for fear)

The tweets showed no fear of men. Therefore, not homophobic.

Roland isn’t going anywhere, he has no talent, he is just a result of CNN affirmative action policy. He could have criticized anything but gays and got away with it. He should have quoted the Bible about homosexuality and then God would have said it!

I Did Not know Getting “Hyped” over something was the same as getting turned on in the Gay Community. I am Hyped over a New Book I want to get.So I guess I want to have sex with the book.So Basically what happened is all the gays must have got turned on by the commercial so assumed he meant them instead of People getting “Hyped” and running out to buy underwear as the tweets read to me.SO according to his tweets by GLADD standards he called soccer fans gay,Underwear buyers Gay and “Bruhs” are the only non-Gays.

Roland Martin is experiencing a giant dose of “As ye sow…,so shall ye reap”.
This is PROVIDENCE. It could not happen to a more deserving person.

GOOGLE the tres plump Monsieur Martin MOMRULES. There is no need to stick up for him.

It is not that GLAAD is so powerful. It is that C.N.N. is no different than Tass or Pravda!

His First Amendment rights do not extend to the policies of the company he works for unless it is an arm of the government. This is where people go off the reservation as it pertains to “rights.” I’m just sorry that basic civics is no longer taught in our elementary, middle and high schools. There seems to be no basic understanding as to the Constitution and how our government is “supposed” to work. Utterly pathetic.

From What I saw of the tweets it was aimed at soccer fans who would suddenly run out to buy underwear.”If a dude at your Super Bowl is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad,smack the ish out of him!” was the line that upset the gays.SO Apparently gays DID get all hyped up about the add. That would be like if he was watching “Toddlers and Tiaras” or whatever that show is and tweeting ” What Kinda Crazy White People watch this show?” then getting in trouble with NAMBLA because they assumed he was calling all pedophiles crazy as well.
