Coburn Blasts Occupy Wall St.: ‘I’ve Never Seen Violence Like This’ in a U.S. Political Group ‘In My Lifetime’

Republican Senator Tom Coburn blasted the Occupy movement on Friday, saying he has “never seen violence like this” associated with any other U.S. political group in his lifetime. During the interview with Daily Caller’s Nicholas Ballasy, Coburn said that “America is already tired of Occupy Wall Street,” a movement he finds more egregious than the Vietnam War protests.

Coburn believes the press “doesn’t want to see” how diverse the Tea Party is, asserting the movement comprises both “well-off people and people who aren’t well-off at all,” but who all understand the constitution. On the other hand, the Oklahoma senator believes all the Occupy movement advocates for is the “mass redistribution of wealth.”

DC adds:

 “America is already tired of Occupy Wall Street,” said Coburn. “They’ve seen the vast majority are great people but they have attracted a fringe group that are both law breakers, inconsistent with their message, they haven’t controlled it and the fact is, you’ve never seen violence like this, law breaking like this and some of the vile stuff that’s occurred in any other political group in this country in my lifetime.”

      I agree the violence demostrated by the police across the nation is out of hand. From macing 84 year grandmothers to putting a, Iraqi war veteran in the hospital with brain injuries. Police have left protestors bloodied and battered from coast to coast.

      He must be younger than he looks. I abhor violence but the anti-Vietnam war demonstration were violent on both sides, including four students shot dead on an Ohio campus. And America has come to grips already with realization that the Vietnam war was one of the worst blunders in American history. 50,000 plus dead and the day we left, literally, the North Vietnamese took the country, the single thing we were trying to prevent. I don’t support the violence of those protests, but the protesters were right.

      Civil right protesters in the 60s were right too. And despite the admonitions of MLK, those were sometimes violent riots as well. I‘ll say again that I don’t believe in violence, but that movement, those protesters, in hindsight, were on the right side of history. And the televised reaction of the government against the protesters did as much as anything to turn American opinion in favor of the movement.

      Yeah, there are a lot of homeless, mentally ill people “occupying.” They are drawn there, just as are a lot of crazy criminals. You know, all those people the right wing press interviews. But seriously, in 20 years, will Americans realize that these people have a legitimate gripe, just as those did that protested against Jim Crow laws, and the Vietnam War?

      But nobody else want to abolish private ownership or property, take away your guns or any other fear you have. The goals are simply to have policies to support the average American as opposed to policies that make the rich richer, and you average American poorer.

      If you want to support the rich, then send them a check. But please don’t support Republicans who would raise your taxes and mine (999) so the we can give even more tax breaks to the richest.

      I support capitalism, the right to own guns, and the middle and lower class. If you want to support millionairs, then just tithe to them montly and see how much you get in return.

      It Is Impossible To Separate Occupy From The Democrat Party.

      Occupy, under command of the White House is becoming the Military Arm of the Democrat Party much like the Third Reich’s SS. and Russian Communist Party KGB. Democrat Party policy will now be enforced by the Occupy terror shock troops. The National Police Forces: FBI, US Marshals, Justice Department, Homeland Security have all been converted to the discipline of Democrat Party objectives but need to seem publicly to be enforcing the law. This is where Occupy fits in. Soon as in 1930 Germany, State and Local police unions will eventually turn against “We the People” and join Occupy. The entire US law enforcement apparatus seems to be protecting Occupy against counter attacks by other groups until it can be fully armed. Fast and Furious may have been a covert attempt to arm Occupy but this secret policy White House program was compromised.

      The US Military is the only part of the Triad that has not as yet brought into control of the Democrat Party, but the US Military is now being infiltrated by DNC under the guise of homosexual infiltration.

      Only the TEA can set you free now.

      wow JZS, what an ignorant reply. The site that was listed was the official site of the OWS movement. It listed the demands of the OWS movement as voted on by the OWS movement. An end to personal property. An end to gun rights, and many more ludicrous demands. You may, MAY be able to find a Tea Partier that wants to send Americans of African descent back to Africa. But you show me the Tea Party website that advocates that.

      Suppose you pay a neighborhood kid to mow your lawn. Then you get a tax break so you’ve got some extra cash. Do you go hire a second kid to mow your lawn?

      Businesses hire only enough people to make the products they can sell or the service they provide. If a business makes a larger profit or get a tax break they don’t hire more people (and management should be fired if they did). No, when people who buy buy their products have more money, then they buy more products. Demand increases. THEN businesses hire because they need more people to meet the higher demand.

      Cutting taxes for the rich and increasing taxes on the middle class and poor – Cain’s 999 plan for example – is the exact of what the country needs.

      Besides, as you know, Bush tried cutting taxes for the rich. Twice. Neither jobs, nor growth followed. You and I need more money Billy, not the “millionaires” if we want the economy to move forward.

      Actually JZS, I buy a vacation home, or a rental property, and then hire more people to mow THOSE lawns. And paint them, and carpet them, and so on, and so on.

      I then also pay property taxes on those additional properties. And we know how much you like taxes.

      Just think of all the good things the government can do with those taxes.

      Sorry, but the guy you hire to mow your new property? He’s the same guy the last owner was using, The new taxes you pay? Same as the previous owner paid. The net effect is zero. The lawnmower repair and the parts they buy? Same as with the previous owner. You’ve replaced the previous owner but everything else is unchanged.

      But you’re onto something. Since we’re both millionaires, paying an extra couple thousand in taxes isn’t going to prevent you or me from buying that nice property. We’re not like the poor who spend every penny they have just to keep a roof over their head and feed their family. You and I still have a lot discretionary income. And we wouldn’t even notice paying an extra couple of percent of income tax.

      But if the lawn mowing guy, and the other 99% Americans like him, get a tax break, then they go out buy things. They spend that money. They create demand for products, food, cable TV like BJTV, new TVs, radios, cars and whatever else. Those things companies sell. They create demand across every industry.

      Giving money to the rich doesn’t help the economy. If you want to give money to the “job creators” then just send them a check. But please, don’t cram extra taxes onto the poor and middle class so that the rich can be more rich.

The Secret Service had refused to identify or even circulate photographs of the White House shooter and assassin until Glen Beck had questioned it on his Monday morning radio show. Within two hours of the SS release of the assassin’s photograph a hotel employee recognized the assassin in the photo, called police and the assassin was arrested. Two hours!     I can think of more than 20 political groups active in the United States during my lifetime that were more violent than the current worldwide economic protests have been. Senator Colburn is older than I am so they would have been active in his lifetime too.
    Senator Colburn has such a poor memory that he is no longer fit to hold public office and should be recalled immediately.

      The phrase “protests turned violent” is programmed into a hot key of every newswriter’s word processors because it is used so often, but it hasn’t been used much in the past two months considering all the ongoing protests.

    Occupy wall street is a sham, it is not a political movement. It’s an opportunity for “wilding” to occur. It’s an avenue for Obama to declare Martial law..It’s about creating chaos…there are no real leaders. When does it get okay to defecate in public?? When does it become okay for idiots to interrupt the daily lives of people trying to make a living..where are there rights/ The OWS has denied them that..This is some of the worst behavior I have ever seen..Maybe the OWS people need to start reading something other than crap and really get an understanding of what Obama and his cronies have in store for this country..these idiots and the Obama administration are making us look like a ship of fools to the world…we are the greatest country in the world because of Capitalism,and freedom given to us by our Constitution…we have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of….people..get your heads on straight….

    coburn is a rino, but on this occasion he is right. the powers behind these protestors are pushing them into violence, with the goal of enough civil unrest for obama to be able to declare martial law. its coming folks, so be ready for it. if obama declares martial law, it will be but a simple step to obama the dictator. it will be up to the good constitution loving peoples of this country to stop obama and his minions. that most likely means civil war for our country. if we want to preserve freedom and liberty and the constitution, we have to be ready to fight for it. if not, then we bow down to a dictator. i, for one, can’t do that. i know its easy to say, but i will die to keep this country free for my grandchildren. thats what its all about……………………………………………

    I think I met Eliasim’s ilk last Saturday night. It was just before 9pm my youngest and I were walking up to the Gas station to get some snacks. Yep, there he was. Right on the sidewalk-screaming at his woman and pushing her down onto the sidewalk.
    Unlike the Chinese who will let a child get repeatedly run over in a street….I did something about it.

    Yep, met your type E. Not impressed. Didn’t involve the police or a police state, or anybody else. Just took care of the situation.

    Of course there has been No violence among the Occupy groups, but of course FOX has tried to portray it that way. The police of course have been violent on some occasions.Those connected with Occupy have no weapons, no billy clubs, no helments, no bullet proof vests, no pepper spray. Only the police do. The violence repored by Fox and Blaze had nothing to do with Occupy.

      The police have been hired to keep order in the community. Of course they need weapons to do that. The “occupiers” have no such authority or responsibility. There is a BIG difference.

      Are you serious? Willfully blind or just dumb? OWS has anarchists and communists amongst its ranks who are sworn to violent tactics to achieve their ends. So every time there is a clash with the police it was the police who started it? It was the police who trashed commercial building in Oakland? It was the police who raped protestors? The police are charged to keep order in society so that the rights of the 100% are respected. And that’s another thing, OWS calling themselves the 99% is laughable. Mainstream America is growing weary of their violence and nonsense. When it comes right down to it, these folks are anti-capitalists, and main street America still believes in hard work, private property rights, and paying their bills. OWS blames corporate greed?! This mess was fueled largely by government policy. There is a small good core idea in OWS but their anger is totally misdirected. They lack character, they lack understanding of American history, and have no clue what it is that made America unique.
