Colbert Mocks Outrage Over Obama‘s ’Attack on Religion’ Using a Condom, a Banana & a Guillotine

On last night‘s episode of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report,” host Stephen Colbert tackled the Obama administration’s contraceptive mandate. During the segment, the comedian poked fun at the church’s stance on contraceptives, while making a variety of statements that that may be offensive to Catholic adherents.
“I have often warned you that President Obama is anti-religious zealot, which is surprising since he is also a devout secret Muslim,” Colbert joked. ”Now, he is launching a vengeful Crusade against the Catholic Church, which is especially hurtful, because vengeful Crusades — kind of our thing.”
Colbert also went on to joke about Obama’s overall health care plan, saying, ”If Jesus wanted everyone to have insurance, he’d have been crucified on a Blue Cross Blue Shield.”
On the contraceptive front, the comedian discussed his own use (or lack thereof) of birth control.
“I practice natural, church-approved birth control,” he said. “It’s like holding in a sneeze.”
Of course, the overall tone was a negative one when it comes to religious peoples’ views that the Obama administration has overstepped its bounds and tramples individual liberty in implementing and handling the mandate.
“Our forefounders would not recognize this secular agenda anymore than we recognize the term forefounder,” he joked. “And they certainly did not use contraception or Ben Franklin wouldn’t be so riddled with syphilis.”
Toward the end of the segment, Colbert put a condom on a banana and used a guillotine to demonstrate “Obama’s attack on religion.”

But when Senator Santorum has had three separate opportunities to actually stand up against Iran and block U.S. companies from doing any kind of business with the terrorist nation, he has balked each time,” NJDC PAC said in a statement. “It is easy to take the lead on pro-Israel measures that pass the Senate by unanimous consent. It is much harder, however, to take on powerful corporations that coddle countries which deny the Holocaust and argue that Israel should be wiped from the map. Posted on February 15, 2012 at 4:40pmI think it‘s interesting that some watch Colbert and even though they know he’s not a conservative, they still believe his parody really represents conservatism, when it does not. It’s still just liberal humor that represents liberals to entertain, mostly, liberals. I used to watch him, but it got old and then when Colbert and Stewart were at Ed Schultz‘s socialist rally in Washington DC Colbert was sooooo bad I simply couldn’t watch and once disillusioned with how bad a performer the man really is, I lost all interest in his show that I had left in me.

Posted on February 15, 2012 at 8:05pmI agree. “Clowns” like Colbert, Stewart, and the rest of their ilk are not funny (if they ever were) because they can’t laugh at themselves which is the best kind of humor. Sure, once in a blue moon things in the news are so blantantly hypocritical on the liberal side that they must poke a little “fun” at their liberal pals, but that is rare. These so called comedians became total bores years ago. Most of their viewers are stoners anyhow.

Report Post »Safe sex is not necessarily to prevent pregnancy. It is to not spread STDs. A couple can practice safe sex and still get pregnant.
VoteBushIn12
Posted on February 16, 2012 at 12:07am@MAYIHELPYOU
That is absolutely not true and quite possibly the most poor thought out statements I’ve ever read.
In order to get pregnant you need to pass fluids from one person to another. These fluids are what carry many STDs including HIV. If you are practicing safe sex and are therefore preventing the transfer of these fluids then you wont be getting pregnant (short of contraceptive error of course).
It is possible to use contraception in a way that is not “safe sex” i.e., a girl on the birth control pill is entirely exposed to STDs. But every form of “safe sex” is, by default, a form of contraception.
Sorry to break it to ya.

Even went to Germany and Italy to study with them and held Nazi rallies in the Hamptons. Yep praised the leader and mocked the people raising the alarm that he was saying dangerous things. Saying the truth and then twisting the context to hide it again. Now that sounds familiar doesn’t it. Didn’t that turn out well did it?! Posted on February 15, 2012 at 4:37pmI agree the church should never have taken the money, but they did so because they were trying to help the poor and sick even more. The money is used toward the charitable work they do – hospitals and so forth. So, because they wanted to extend outreach to the poor as much as possible, those who accepted the money did something we would all live to regret. Out of their desire to do more good, harm was also done. I hope perhaps the powers that be have learned a lesson or two – one of which is that government can’t be trusted – especially Obama.
