College Basketball Star Trademarks His…Unibrow

Talk about making lemonade from the lemons that life gives you! One young man is about to earn big bucks from his famous “unibrow.”

University of Kentucky’s Anthony Davis is known for his prowess on the basketball court. In fact, Davis was key to leading the Kentucky Wildcats to the NCAA championship this spring, and most experts believe he will be the #1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft.

Anthony Davis is also known for having a substantial eyebrow (“unibrow”) that spans his entire forehead. And he’s decided to cash in on it.

CNBC reports that Davis has registered for trademarks related to his famous facial feature. The two key trademarked phrases? “Fear The Brow” and “Raise The Brow.”

During his college days, Anthony did not want to risk losing his amateur status by selling merchandise with his famous furry brow. However, now that he is about to turn pro, the merchandising mechanism is ramping up, and Davis told CNBC:

“I don’t want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it.”

We wonder if Mr. Davis knows that he is not the first unibrowed human on the planet. The wisegeek.com reports that unibrows have their own support group complete with a motto, “don’t tweeze to please.”

There is also a band called “Unibrow”

Heck, there are even unibrowed Muppets and animated characters.

We applaud Anthony Davis’ pride in his hirsute heritage and we wish him much success with both his NBA career and his merchandising efforts.

Some one is gonna pay him money for phrases related to his rather unattractive unibrow?

How pathetic that people could actually care or participate in something like this.

Perhaps he & the late Trayvon‘s P’s in name only (who trademarked a bunch of crud related to him and hoodies and websites and so on) can get a little co op going and offer “Unibrow Hoodies” with Trayvon‘s pic on the front and a copy of the ’wanted dead or alive’ poster on the back with an Obama logo on the shoulder!!! ;)

It’s a DECEPTIVE HEADLINE (both this website and the original CNBC website).

He did not trademark his unibrow. This is the media creating a controversy where none exists.

He’s trademarking phrases, not a facial feature. If my eyebrows grew together, he couldn’t exactly stop me from getting a job, even if that job was one as a public figure…

Still, how can you lay claim to the rights to something not exclusive to you?

I always considered unibrows to be lack of good grooming and sort of “low” brow. Idiotcrocy at it’s best-what a jerk, sure thinks a lot of himself.

Maybe he just got handed a lemon and he’s making lemonade out of it. Cut him some slack.

Leonid Brezhnev could have raised a few brows, so could Andy Rooney.

It sounds dumb, but other people were making money off of his uni-brow, putting it on t-shirts and whatnot. Why should someone else make money off of HIS look without him getting a piece?

Bring back the Fonz. He can trademark the Ducktail look a lot of us had.
How stupid. Bet his grades show it too.

I, myself, am a Kentucky fan, and you guys are taking this stuff way too seriously. And what grades? He don’t need no stinking grades. As a freshman, he’s about to be the first pick in the NBA draft. So it’s my guess his grades are the furthest thing from his mind.

There are some things that should not be made into fashion statements. And a mustache above the eyes is one of them.
