College Student Now Charged With Felony for Pouring Boiling Water on Dog

Student Kyle Voissem Charged with Felony for Pouring Boiling Water on DogBack in October, 20-year-old Kyle Voissem was charged with a misdemeanor after it was found he poured boiling water on his dog after it peed on the floor. Now, Voissem is in more hot water himself after the charges were recently upgraded to a felony.

The Chicago Tribune describes what happened to the dog, Byron, at the time:

According to prosecutors, the UIC senior was boiling water to make macaroni and cheese for dinner at his home in the 1700 block of South Desplaines Street in mid-October when he saw his dog urinate on the floor. He threw the boiling water at the pup, causing severe burns to the animal.

The dog was described in the Anti-Cruelty Society report as a 1 ½-year-old “mountain cur mix.”

The Daily Mail says Byron suffered “second-degree burns over 50 percent of its body and third-degree burns on its neck.”

Voissem, a student at the University of Illinois at Chicago but from West Allis, WI, now faces felony animal cruelty charges. He was on the gymnastics team but dismissed after his arrest. Ironically, he’s studying criminal justice.

The charges were reportedly upgraded due to the severity of the burns. Byron has since been adopted.

One Man Progressive Wrecking Crew: Good job. I hope that the guy at least gets a good fist sandwhich for his actions on top of whatever else he’s charged with.

I for one appreciate greatly the efforts which the Blaze goes to in order to point out cases of animal cruelty and bring awareness to the issue. I have a zero tolernace for animal cruelty and believe that the laws need to be updated in order to meet this seemingly growing indifference at best towards animals.

Education and awareness will go a long way in preventing a lot of animal cruelty.. Then stiffer penalties should offer even more deterence.

This animal depended on his owner to take care of him. By the look and type of the dog, I’m sure the owner was just trying to have an extension of his manhood. Typical of many young men. Bull breeds are some of the most loveable loyal dogs around if socialized correctly.

      @ BLACK9897:

Serial killers start their careers by torturing and killing LIVE animals, then “graduate” and move onto targeting human victims. A felony is a minimal sentence for this DNA stain; Voissom should get wheat he gave to Byron.

This proves again that Voissem is just another degenerate from the Wisconsin/Illinois corridor of Communists & Marxists. [What a shock most of his photos on the internet are in a RED SHIRT.]

I love how it is reported as a “mountain cur mix” when the animal is the victim but a “pit bull” when the animal is the aggressor. Furthermore, pit bulls are not even a breed they are the pseudo classification name. They are very loyal to their owners and family, with that said if they are viscous, like all dogs can be with neglect, they are a very tough opponent. Its funny because neglect can make humans cold blooded killers as well. Shout outs to Malice and Iree

I have mixed feeling about animal rights. The case above is a good arguement for severe punishment to the dag’s owner, period. It was his dog and most dogs that I know are loyal and would not hesitate to lay their life down for their owners. This student mest BURN.
I do disagree with punishment to human who shoot bear or mountain lion @ or near your home. especially if you have children, I’ve seen governments punish people over this which is WRONG.
Then there’s the cat in the neighborhood that sprays & sh !ts in your yard every day. Its either a stray ( that if @ animal control would be put down anyway ) or belongs to a neighbor ( the neighbor should clean your yard daily & wash your cars & beg for forgiveness ) who just wants the cat to sh !t in your yard…….those cats should be put down, and if there is an “owner” they should pay the same price that the “student” in this article should pay !

I’ve known a few people that would beat animals because they peed in the wrong place, or simply because they got near the owner. They all turned out to be borderline psychopaths.

Just a heads up, anyone that can set a puppy on fire, boil his skin off, or other horrific act isn’t just a one time deal. Usually the owner’s need to be put down as well.
