Columnist: MLK Sent Hurricane Because of Violence, Racism and Porn in Our Society

Detroit Free Press Columnist Rochelle Riley: MLK Sent Hurricane Because of Violence, Racism and Porn in Our Society

Washington, D.C. officials postponed the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial due to Hurricaine Irene.

Officially, this weekend’s dedication ceremony for the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. was postponed due to Hurricane Irene.

Not so, according to Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley. Instead, the late civil rights leader sent the massive storm to shutter the celebration and force everyone to pause and self-reflect amid the pervasive violence, racism and pornography in our society.

Riley wrote:

First, there was an earthquake. Then there was a hurricane. What in the world could be going on?

Nothing in the world. That was just Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., above the world, shutting down the celebration, getting our attention and telling us to take a good look at ourselves.

If King were here today, she said, he would be “roiled with righteous anger and sadness” because of:

• Black teens running around, beating people in Philadelphia and Milwaukee flash mob violence.

• The trial of the men who beat Vincent Kee, a gentle, mentally disabled man in Albuquerque, N.M., and then branded him with a swastika.

• Black teens dropping out of schools in Detroit, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Gary, Ind., in numbers too obscene to say aloud.

• Three white men, on a mission to hurt a black person, driving to Jackson, Miss., and beating an innocent 49-year-old James Anderson, then driving their Ford F-250 pickup over him to kill him.

All of this in addition to:

• The soft-core porn that passes as programming on MTV, VH1 and BET.

• Widespread unemployment at a rate higher than in 1963 when he gave his “I Have a Dream” speech on the National Mall.

A magazine editor calling America’s first president of color the slang word for penis on national TV.

Therefore, with this in mind, King “didn’t think we were ready to celebrate today” and instead, “the raindrops on the King monument today will represent the tears of the lions who went before and left this world hoping that better would come after.”

Whenever the dedication is rescheduled for, she said, hopefully we’ll have “a better report to show.”

What do you think of Riley’s reasoning? Let us know in the comments.

MLK Sent Hurricane Because of Violence, Racism and Porn in Our Society – that is the headline, but this is wrong, according to the media, and the black community no-bama is god. How can this be? How can the black community have no-bama as god, mlk as god, god as god?

Exodus 20:3-4 look it up people, and for the dummy version it should be hanging in every christian household, being part of the 10 commandments.

I doubt she meant it literally. She was trying to get a point across, and it was a good one. MLK would be very sad at the state of American blacks today. They have fallen so far back. Its time for them to start showing what they are made of and achieve something positive. Pull their pants up, study, be responsible, take care of their families, and act civilized. Then they will earn respect. I believe he would be most ashamed of Maxine Waters. Would he have ever told any group to go to he**?

Maybe MLK is just angry that his statue has to stand up forever and Lincoln’s gets to sit down. That is definitely racism. Or maybe it is because his statue looks like a really pissed off Chinese guy. Definitely racism. Or maybe that it cost millions of dollars and it looks only 2/3′s finished. Racism pure and simple. Next MLK (the god of wrath) will bring about a plague of locusts or global warming or cooling or something. Gore (the prophet of obesity) has predicted that MLK will rain down upon us a temperature increase of at least 0.05 degrees in the next century (shudders) OMG!

Martin Luther King’s words are consistently taken out of context and he is constantly misquoted by people whose livelihoods revolve around keeping racial tension alive and well.

Most people do not even realize that he never uttered the words inscribed on this memorial. They are plagiarized from a preacher in the 1800s who got absolutely no credit for uttering them.

This is NOT a Muslim thing, this is how commies work. They rewrite history, replace founders with more modern heroes and use misquotes and false statements that usually start with “If [insert name here] were alive today he would…”

@NHWINTER: Yes I agree, I think the article was tongue in cheek reminding MLK followers that things haven’t changed that much since his “I had a Dream” speech. Perhaps it was written as a reminder that MLK’s people have not done enough to change anything. Put you faith in God alone,
Maxine Waters is a good example of keeping her people down with her uncalled for remarks.

Attempting to get Bibles into Tibet had many challenges.

The first time, there were landslides.
The second time, there were heavy rains.
The third time, the mules had fallen off the mountain.
The fourth time, there were thunderbolts.
      And on, and on …
Until the seventh time, they finally got the Bibles into Tibet.

The obvious conclusion is that God didn’t want the Bibles in Tibet in the first place.

Dr. Martin Luther King was about the character of the individual, life is to be cherished, each individual has a duty to be the best they can be, and each has a duty, to God, for making it possible.

The obvious conclusion is, the Dr. King shrine shouldn’t have been placed in Washington DC in the first place.

There is a lot of bad stuff out there to rail against, but we don’t need to elevate MLK to God-like status and give him reign over the heavens and earth and all manner of natural disasters to give us omens of our transgressions. This is the sort of thing you might see in a blog post, not published in a newspaper. Free speech is granted to columnists, I know, but the paper doesn’t have to print garbage if that is what they are given by columnists. They should bear some responsibility for the column appearing. I wonder what mushroom Rochelle Riley was consuming when he made that statement? Martin Luther King jr though a great man does not have God like powers. It is easier to believe this is an act of God than a soul long gone
Even if we were to accept Rochelle‘s analysis then wouldn’t Martin Luther King be disappointed by the way the black community has degenerated to the level of a thug? In addition who needs a divine intervention when our black President’s own actions have practically impoverished his own race. The black community is the worst hit with unemployment figures far above the national level and with a deteriorating economy continuing down the path of complete implosion there is no light to be seen in this long and dark tunnel of misery for the black community who have taken to mob attacks and racism at it’s worst emanating from both the blacks and the rest of us. There is a saying “if you don’t have anything intelligent or good to say then do not say anything”, advice Rochelle should follow.

To Bonnie Blue Flag – The “difference” is that he was citing CITIES, not states.
It depends on the constituency that the Dems have to please. VT – the WHITEST state (or at least the whitest school system AFAIK) in the USA is like Sweden – socialist & “successful” because of homogeneity. Mass. isn’t much different. Big urban centers that are majority black (think New Orleans) are the rule, though there are many others like Houston, Atlanta, Newark & on & on. If you are gonna cite states, maybe DC is your closest analog; how’s that city faring?

No. They were probably assigned to this site by one of the many Soros – funded media comment groups. Just out to peddle media influence and “spy” on dumb conservatives .

    A. The statue looks nothing like him.
    B. He didn’t “send” any inclement weather but I do think that
    C. He‘d be incredibly saddened by what’s going on in the black community and in the country in general.
    D. It’s a sad commentary all around.

AND, out of all the memorials in DC, WHY is he depicted with an angry expression. The expression does not represent him or his purpose well.

      EPIC FAIL

No joke. The MLK memorial statue was designed and created in…China.

She got some of it right, but generally speaking, MLK would probably say: “People, I repeat…it’s the content of your character, not the color of your skin that matters, and from what I see from here, the deficiencies of your character has completely broken my heart. Nothing will change until you do…each and every one of you.”

Amen, to that. They will use MLK in anyway they can to justify calling those who do not support Obama’s policies, racist. They are in denial that this president is over his head in trying to change the USA to European style of government. If we wanted European style of government than we would not have needed to discover American and our forefathers would not have needed to write a constitution of laws.

If MLK had anything to do with the storm which I know he didn’t. It would be because of what Obummer has been doing to race relations turning back the clocks. Judge a man by the content of his character not the color of his skin. Obummer is doing just the opposite.
