Comedian Chris Rock ‘Attacks’ Camera During Encounter With Conservative Author

Conservative commentator and author Jason Mattera has his eyes set on Hollywood, as his new book “Hollywood Hypocrites” takes aim at liberal celebrities who have supported President Barack Obama.
In a video clip attached to his promotion of the book, Mattera approaches comedian Chris Rock and questions him about disparaging comments he’s made about the Tea Party and racism. The video takes a bizarre turn when Rock “attacks” the camera that is recording his interaction with the author.
The incident, which apparently occurred January 23, 2012, first shows Mattera telling the actor and comedian that he’s a fan and nicely asking Rock for a picture. Then, Mattera goes in for the kill.

“Chris, when you said that the Tea Party was insanely racist — Chris, when you said…,” Mattera asked, but before he could finish, Rock reacted.
This question was referencing comments the comedian made in an interview with Esquire Magazine last year. He said:
“When I see the Tea Party and all this stuff, it actually feels like racism’s almost over. Because this is the last — this is the act up before the sleep,” ”They’re going crazy. They’re insane. You want to get rid of them — and the next thing you know, they’re f—— knocked out.”
It is important to note a few elements here. First and foremost, the audio goes out once Rock pushes the camera out of the way. So, we have no idea what was said following the camera incident.
Also, Mattera’s strategy of approaching opponents and surprising them (or “ambushing” them as some have described it) has come under fire in the past. While some admire the information he is able to gather, not everyone — even some conservatives — believes that setting figures up with on-the-spot questioning is the best way to get viable answers. The Blaze will be exploring this discussion more in the future.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 10:58amNot everyone believes that setting figures up and then asking them on-the-spot questions is the best way to get viable answers. Chris Rock’s answer spoke volumes. Showed exactly who he is. He’s a feeble-minded child. He gets violent, because he’s out of ideas. He’s wrong, and on some level he knows it, so the immature boob starts swinging. What happens when you question and try to correct a spoiled child? They throw a tantrum.

OWS: Over 3000 arrests, 4 deaths, over 100 rapes, shots fired at the white house, threats and attacks on kids walking to school, video of violence, destruction and looting, defecating on streets, Churches, cop cars; Threatened cops and their families. Trash left behind.
Tea Party: No arrests, No deaths, no rapes, NO racism, peaceful, no trash left behind.
Gee, I think Mr. Rock is quite delusional.

If you honestly think I feel bad for “on the spot questions”. Then you are highly mistaken. High gas and communism don’t effect them, it’s an elite ruling class, a monarchy and not what this REPUBLIC was built on. Posted on March 14, 2012 at 12:10pmLion, I agree, I am not fond of the ambush style of journalism but to be fair it is the only way you can get some of these leftist away from their scripted talking points. Chris Rock would never allow himself to be interviewed by someone that would challenge his insane rants because they are not founded on actual evidence but on his ideology that all things ‘right’ is bigoted, racist and attached to some kind of phobia. He believes the Tea Party must be racists because they are against a black President – not because they are in fact against his policies. When push comes to shove, and the left sure do like to shove, they can’t justify their rhetoric so they resort to name calling, demonization and in this case, violence.

He’s a guy who is in the middle of a crowded hallway at Sundance, was asked for a picture by a guy Chris thought was a fan and was set up to answer an on-the-spot question. Celebrities aren’t always equipped for this kind of sneak attack. They are people like everyone else and flip out. He’s always got cameras around him, people always hounding him, I mean, give the guy a freaking break. He‘s entitled to his opinions and doesn’t have to answer anyone’s question. You saw that he was trying to get away and he was cornered. Sorry, but Chris wasn’t entirely at fault here.

This is part of being in Hollywood and these Marxist freaks aren’t used to being called out. We have sat silent way TOO long and now when Conservatives finally call out people for lying you stick up for the Marxists? Chris could have simply walked away…right? Of coarse Rock gets PO’d I would too! I hope I wouldn’t react the way he did, but man you poke a dog with a stick, you might get bit! Im just saying. However,AI think people like this are necessary right now because we need to go down all avenues before its too late. Would I do what he does, no, but what he does is not illegal and is only asking questions. If actions like this prevent violent means down the road, then by all means this NEEDS to be done in order to shed light on the darkness. To show hypocrisy and challenge the left’s propaganda is the bottom line here. As for The Blaze doing stories like MSNBC, I have to disagree. This is a right leaning news source, which doesn‘t mean there can’t be a standard. However, right leaning none the less. This clip and story belongs here and was questioned rightfully. You forgot to add the Neo Nazi types that have also endorsed and showed up to OWS “events”.
Lets just face it. It’s a matter of good and evil.
Tea Party: Motivated by Love of God and/or Liberty
OWS: Motivated by Hate of God and/or Liberty
So if I hate God and want to be considered dependent on government, I’m an “Occupier”. I might be a racist Neo Nazi, I might be a Jew, I might be and atheist, I might be African, Chinese, Indian, Russian, or Vulcan, I might be a socialist, I might be a corporatist, I might be a socialist, I might be anonymous. But the one thing I am, hate filled. It’s why people have a hard time trying to figure out what OWS actually stands for. They don’t stand for anything, they only stand because of hate, and the interesting this is they share hate not only for those who only want to Liberate them, they share the hate they have for each other.
It really is interesting to watch how this is evolving. I mean, the current developments of the Nation of Islam in regards to their Messiah, is a microcosm of what the future of OWS is. Soon, they will turn on the ones they stand next to now, its what always happens when you stand next to someone out of a shared hate.

The incident is telling because of the direction of Mattera’s material: liberal hypocrisy. Not racial hypocrisy, not black people being thugs, but, like some have pointed out, that liberals can ambush people and not get called on it nearly as often. The people here who made comments about his race and NOT his political views? They reveal that race is the key issue for them.

He is an Al Sharpton of the comedy world, he makes money making fun of people because of their race, including his own.

Nice comeback, buddy. My list of comments made solely about Rock’s race is “lame.” With a defense like that, how could you go wrong?
As for the known racists, Spankdamonkey is the one who first comes to mind. He’s openly admitted as such, although after people started pointed it out he tried to backtrack and say “Ha ha guys, it was a joke! … guys? Where are you going?” The other would be RangerP, who insists races should be separated and that interracial marriage is morally wrong.
You’re quickly working your way up there, as even here you admit you don’t like “some” blacks. I’m sure you have your reasons; but again, they’re based on assumptions you make based on race. That’s… the definition of racism.

Common sense? The actual definition? Your own words, that divide up people based on the idea that because they are of a specific race, they hold certain non-genetic characteristics?
This is fun. Are you actually Spankdamonkey? He started saying the same thing, “How come you get to judge what’s racist?” before trying to turn it into a joke. See, the problem is two-fold: first, there are common definitions for racist remarks (namely, judging people based on their race); and second, your own words live on in infamy here on The Blaze (unless, of course, if the moderators delete them).

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 2:28pmLet’s set the record straight about “Racism”.
There is a scientific observation that the 3 most important characteristics most often used in brief descriptions of individuals are RACE (nationality), SEX, and AGE.
“Racism” used to be a scientific term (rather neutral) different from “Racial discrimination” (which is definitely bad).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism
Biologists John Tooby and Leda Cosmides were puzzled by the fact that race is one of the three characteristics most often used in brief descriptions of individuals (the others are age and sex). They reasoned that natural selection would not have favoured the evolution of an instinct for using race as a classification, because for most of human history, humans almost never encountered members of other races. Tooby and Cosmides hypothesized that modern people use race as a proxy (rough-and-ready indicator) for coalition membership, since a better-than-random guess about “which side” another person is on will be helpful if one does not actually know in advance.

Not to make excuses for some of the idiots here, but some of the comments in this thread are sarcasm and others are references to Chris’ own work such as the person who now considers Chris a n* versus just being black. That specific comment seems to be right out of “Bigger and Blacker.”

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 2:32pmTo continue: The difference between “Racism” (rather neutral) and “Racial discrimination” (definitely bad).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism
Some research suggests that ethnocentric thinking may have actually contributed to the development of cooperation. Political scientists Ross Hammond and Robert Axelrod created a computer simulation wherein virtual individuals were randomly assigned one of a variety of skin colors, and then one of a variety of trading strategies: be color-blind, favor those of your own color, or favor those of other colors. They found that the ethnocentric individuals clustered together, then grew until all the non-ethnocentric individuals were wiped out.[71]
In The Selfish Gene, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins writes that “Blood-feuds and inter-clan warfare are easily interpretable in terms of Hamilton’s genetic theory.” Dawkins writes that racial prejudice, while not evolutionarily adaptive, “could be interpreted as an irrational generalization of a kin-selected tendency to identify with individuals physically resembling oneself, and to be nasty to individuals different in appearance”.[72] Simulation-based experiments in evolutionary game theory have attempted to provide an explanation for the selection of ethnocentric-strategy phenotypes.[73]

Then you’re obviously not looking. I’ve been vocal in denouncing liberals and Obama (heck, even in this article; do a search for my name).
-I’m for fiscal conservatism, pointing out corruption and calling out liars, and keeping government out of our lives. Morally,
-I’m a Christian, though people would probably call me moderate because I don’t believe in paint-brushing all non-Christians as terrible, immoral people; rather, I let the teachings of Chris shape my life, actions, and outlook without forcing my views on others… though I love to strike up a good religious conversation if another party is willing.
-Politically, independent who’s voted for the GOP in every election except 2004 (I disagreed with the war in Iraq then, as I still do today. It was enough of a reason for me to not support Bush’s second term; I simply didn’t vote at all).
And I use The Blaze because it provides good breaking news, as well as some opinions you won’t find anywhere in the MSM. I use the comments because I don’t like people posting bigoted or incorrect “facts” and not getting called on it.

True. But if you look at my list, I specifically ignored those examples. The ones I included were ONLY the examples that labeled Rock by his race, or made reference to this just being “how blacks behave.”
As you yourself just said, there are idiots on here who most definitely just look at Rock and think, before any other criticism, “Oh, he’s black, and blacks are violent.” Nothing about his politics, or quoting his work, or him being an actor. Just him being a black man.

“Some dose of racism (nationalism, xenophobia) is normal, natural, and healthy. According to mathematical and computer modeling, it is absolutely necessary for survival of any group.”
I’ll take a different view on this. I agree that prejudice and stereotyping are normal and common to the point of being subconsciously inherent after our first several months of life. However, that does not make them healthy nor necessary for the survival of humanity. The argument you are making is entirely based on nature, and has nothing to do with learning, experience, or the environment. Homosexuality, rape, and infanticide are found naturally in many species, but few on this site would argue that (on the whole) they are healthy and necessary for humanity’s survival.
Perhaps when we were living as separate tribes fighting over scarce resources and every interaction with another tribe meant conflict… sure. But (at least in places of abundance, like here in America), these inclinations are rightly viewed as holding us back. It makes sense to cross the street when you see a bunch of rough-looking shady characters in front of you. But as educated people, most of the West has tried their best to move beyond “Oh, he’s black. He‘s probably a thug who can’t control his violence.”
This is likely preaching to the choir, of course. Point is, having natural prejudices is no excuse to paint-brush an entire race as some here have done.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 3:43pm@Locked. Yes, this was preaching to the choir. You are absolutely correct, but…
Prejudice against others who look, dress or behave differently is a normal and natural ANIMAL SUBCONSCIOUS behavior. Yes, violence, cannibalism, adultery, homosexualism, incest, et cetera, are also normal and natural ANIMAL behaviors. Yes, it doesn’t make them desirable in human society.
However, prejudice is still necessary for the survival of the humankind as a whole.
I am not talking about racial prejudice (which is the deepest animal instinct and probably is not needed anymore). When I walk on Wall street and see a black man wearing Rolex, expensive clothes and shiny shoes, his race doesn’t make any difference, so I don’t even recognize it.
When I walk in Harlem and see a bunch of black teenagers wearing buggy pants and gold chains, I am very very afraid. I am not afraid when I see a bunch of Chinese or Indian or whatever teenagers, so race does matter as one of PROXY characteritics for quick recognition of dangers.
Anyway, I am talking about prejudice to non-members of your group (which could be Macintosh or Linux users, Vegans, Jazz lovers, or whatever). Any group will not survive if it allows equal access to people who DO NOT SHARE your values.
For instance, Boy Scouts will disappear if they allow homosexual leaders. Catholic church will disappear if they allow atheists to be bishops. Women organization will disappear if it allows men to be members.

I feel like you’ve gone from your quoted material (on racial prejudice, which as you say, is natural and inherent) and have expanded it to sociology and chosen characteristics (religious faith). See, for example, that your example with a black business man and a black thug. You’re not judging them on being black, but on other features. That’s not racism. You just said you don’t care about their color: you care about their presentation. It was their choices, not their inherent color, that caused your reaction.
That‘s not been the case in the examples I’ve quoted here. I didn’t choose examples of people who condemned Chris Rock for being liberal, rude, or hypocritical. I chose examples who singled out him for being black. It was a race-based focus, not based on his choices or ideology.
“However, prejudice is still necessary for the survival of the humankind as a whole.”
When it comes solely to race, I disagree; if it comes to alterable concepts like culture, religion, or values, I agree. But as the discussion and all of your provided information has been on race, I‘m not sure why you’re stating this point.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 4:08pmI am an atheist, btw, so I am prohibited from being a Boy Scout leader. Oh, well…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy_Scouts_of_America_membership_controversies
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), one of the largest private youth organizations in the United States, has policies which prohibit atheists and agnostics from membership in its Scouting program, and prohibit “avowed” homosexual people from leadership roles in its Scouting program as directly violating its fundamental principles and tenets. BSA has denied or revoked membership status or leadership positions of youths and adults for violation of these foundational principles.
The BSA contends that these policies are essential in its mission to instill in young people the values of the Scout Oath and Law.[1][2]
The organization’s legal right to have these policies has been upheld repeatedly by both state and federal courts. In Boy Scouts of America v. Dale, the Supreme Court of the United States has affirmed that as a private organization, the BSA can set its own membership standards. The BSA’s policies have been legally challenged but have not been found to constitute illegal discrimination; as a private organization in the United States the BSA has the right to freedom of association,[3] as determined in Boy Scouts of America v. Dale.[4] In recent years, the policy disputes have led to litigation over the terms under which the BSA can access governmental resources including public lands.

Race is one of the major proxy characteristics. You said it yourself: “Black businessman”, “Black teenagers in baggy pants”. Omit the word “black”, and you will lose most of the meaning.
“White teenagers in baggy pants” or “Chinese teenagers in baggy pants” are completely different cathegories (they just mimic clothes and behavior, but not as dangerous).
When I see a “Black businessman”, I know what to expect. “Chinese businessman” or “Russian businessman” are completely different (I am from Russia, btw, so I know).
Btw, I have an utmost respect to a black businessman working on Wall street. It probably took a lot of character to overcome the peer pressure, to get education, and to become successful.
Take Herman Cain for instance. If you missed it, every redneck in the south wanted him to become the selected Presidential candidate. 1000s of typical rednecks were driving around in Georgia and Tennessee in pickup trucks with the confederate flag in one window and the portrait of Herman Cain in another. 1000s of rednecks were volunteers for him in the South.
Who are real racists? Democrats who instill in blacks feelings of inferiority and victimhood, or Conservatives who want those blacks to stand up, get education, become successful, and join the rest of Americans???

Ah, I misunderstood. I used “black” in this case simply because you did. If I see baggy pants, smoking, with tattoos and bandanas, I think “Trouble” whether the race is white, brown, or black. I thought you were saying the same thing.
I guess I’ll disagree then. I’m obviously not “color blind” (in the Maniac Magee sense of the term), but I don’t think “Ah! Black thug!”; I think “Ah! Thug!” I guess it’s different for different people; my point was it’s not the race that makes me go “Ah!”, it’s the actions and portrayal. It’s the difference between saying “Chris Rock is black; of course he’s violent“ and saying ”Chris Rock is a thug; of course he’s violent.”

“But i am sure you will all call Chris Rock a racist, socialist marxist and say he hates white people. Spooky black man videos”
Oh, well, unfortunately, since even before Barack Obama become the Presidential candidate, there have been a lot of “black attacks”… Remember black snipers in Washington? “Let’s paint White House black”? Black Panthers intimidating white voters? Black teenagers putting a white guy on fire? Black teenagers throwing shopping carts on people? Black teenager flash mobs robbing groceries and pharmacies and shoe stores and …? Black teenagers attacking whites at county fairs and throwing people out of windows?
Black-on-White crime is 100 times up recently, and Black-on-White crime is 1000×1 comparing to White-on-Black crime, unfortunately. At least this is the perception, since nobody would publish real statistics.
Btw, last time it caused the creation of KKK to protect whites against freed black slaves (“It” means the perception of a Black-on-White crime wave caused by emancipation). Whatever. Spin it as you wish. You know I am not a rabid racist by any stretch of imagination.

You want to protect yourself against riotous black Americans? Get a gun, and shoot them on your property if they come to steal your stuff.
Just so you know Michael, there have been three KKKs to date (four, if you count the neo-Nazi KKK of today). The first was Confederates in the 1860s, opposing Reconstruction. The second were ultra-nationalist whites in the 1920s. The third was anti-segregationists in the 1960s, who routinely murdered and attacked blacks.
Today, the Klan is considered a terrorist group.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 10:46amFirst, Chris Rock is the most overrated “comedian” (and maybe the worst actor I’ve ever seen) of our day.
Report Post »Second, have you ever actually watched/listened to his act? You talk about a racist. This guy is as bad as Paul Mooney (another non-funny “comedian”). Nearly everything they talk about is race-related. And it ALWAYS portrays whites in bad light.
Third, the reason he doesn’t want to address his comments, is because he has NOTHING, in terms of facts, to back them up with.

Have you seen Chris Rock? He definitely uses race as a topic, but he picks on all sides. I remember one skit where he’s talking about how black women get upset when they see successful black men with white girlfriends. Says something like, “Hey, hands off our good men! White people have plenty of good guys; we only have six!”
Made me crack up, at least.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 11:30amYes, I’ve seen Chris Rock — several times. Okay, so once in a blue Paul Mooney he pokes fun at blacks. That doesn’t change the fact that he blasts whites all the time. Oh, and that he, generally speaking, sucks.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 10:44amwe recently (barely) sat thru some 1990s? black-stars movie on starz called ‘something’s wrong in south central’ or something like that, and all we could think of is, if black ‘stars’ were in a movie like that and liked to run themselves down like that, there is a very serious problem in that community.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 10:49amThe anger on the Left is what they fear will come upon them from the Right if the Right ever became a majority in this country…..so since they are the majority for now, they reserve the right to kick your butt when you question their words and deeds. Makes total sense now….there is no such thing as equality, there is only majority rule with iron fist.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 10:59amChief: The anger on the Left is a new kind of anger. It is the anger of political zealots who have been filled with rage by their social justice political imams and their Marxist mentors. New and dangerous.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 10:50amIt’s a good sign of being uneducated. Without possessing the proper communication skills (and others), it’s all they have and a good many of them use it quite often. You see it a lot in fast food joints, where, incidentally, michelle tells them not to go.

Report Post »Not the color of the skin, but the cloor of their character.
Sounds like the movie “Pitch Black”, their character is as black as the bottom of the pitch lake.
