Comedian Claims He Was Kicked Off United Air Flight Because He’s Black

Comedian Michael Coylar Says United Airlines Discriminated Against Him

United Airlines is investigating a complaint by actor and comedian Michael Coylar after he blasted the company for allegedly kicking him off a flight.

Coylar, who starred in “Barbershop” and the “Princess and the Frog,” says that he was booted off of an airplane at Dulles International Airport because he is black. The incident apparently unfolded after Coylar accused a stewardess of giving preferential treatment to a white passenger. The Daily Mail has more:

The race row blew up after Mr Colyar, who won the talent show ‘Star Search’ 21 years ago, reportedly refused to allow his bag to be moved from an overhead storage bin so that a white woman could stow her bags there instead.

Comedian Michael Coylar Says United Airlines Discriminated Against HimTMZ reports Coylar’s claim that the flight attendant gave him dirty looks when he refused to move his bags. After he inquired about filing a complaint, he says security came and then removed him from the flight.

But according to TMZ reports, some passengers say that Coylar was unruly prior to his removal.

Following the incident, the frustrated comedian posted a strong-worded Facebook note about the debacle (you can read the entire post here):

The flight attendant and her friend got just what they wanted, the ni**gr off the plane. I’m sure they feel a great triumph in putting an uppity ni**gr in his place. After all, after 9-11 went down the need for courtesy and fairness flew out the window. Airlines used to be great places to go. Flying used to be fun, even elegant. But since 9-11 the airlines use the terrorist terror to humiliate and bully passengers at every turn.

He goes on to write that he should, at the least, sue the airline for “theft of services, public humiliation and defamation of character.” Then, he makes an odd comparison between himself and Rosa Parks (who he calls “Rose Parks”):

How is my situation any different then that of Rose Parks. I wouldn’t surrender my space so the white lady could be comfortable, so they throw me off the plane…no questions asked.

United Airlines has, of course, responded the the accusations of discrimination, claiming that the company has a “zero tolerance policy” for racism and the like. It appears United will be speaking with the staff involved as well as other customers who were on board the flight.

We’ll have to wait and see how the scenario unfolds. Whether race was a factor in Coylar’s removal is yet to be substantiated.

      Mr. Coylar, as a professional pilot, I can say that the only people who are removed from flights are ill-behaved idiots like you, because in todays horrible economic environment, the airlines don’t care what color you are, only that your money is green.

      Hmmmm? Wonder how much money the black Congressional Caucus paid this funny guy to make a big ruckus? Could be he’s such a loser, he though something like this would make him famous. But I think his thinking was off because it appears he‘s made a dam fool and azz of himself for being arrogant and thinking he’s more important than trying to be polite.

      Someone said he put his stuff in a row he wasn‘t sitting in and some lady needed to stow her stuff because that’s where she was sitting. How often I’ve found people put their stuff in the front part and go on to their seats in the back………that way, they can be first in the aisle while everyone else is getting their belongings out of the overhead. Made my blood boil, but that’s life if you have to fly.

      This idiot was looking for a fight. This seems to be his M.O. so he can yell out the RACIST WORD.

      I am so tired of people who don’t get treated like the star they think they are, and then play the race card. What if I decided I shouldn’t have to wait in line as long as someone else, DISCRIMINATION BECAUSE I’M WHITE! Or if I wait too long on hold on the phone….YOU ONLY DID THAT BECAUSE I’M WHITE. See how idiotic it sounds? Sounds just as bad when someone is accused of giving some white guy preferencial treatment on a plane.       I fly alot and have been asked to move my small travel bag under my seat so a larger bag can go in the overhead….no problem. I have witnessed many passengers of different races act rediculous when asked to do this…I really love the one’s that try to get passengers close by to try to buy into their stuoid little drama….please. shove your bag under your seat and shut the old pie hole…

      Where exactly was his bag placed? Was it above the seat reserved for the ticket holder just in front of him? Did he also have another bag of his own above his seat and think he would take the space also in front of his seat. Seems to be a more likely scenario given his quick response to pull the race card. Why is it when any challenges of anykind are met with the card being flung right from the top of their neatly packaged deck of race cards that are always handy in these situation. I try to avoid blacks for this reason. They have always acted like mind readers from my experience as they look through the prism of race to see the world as always against them no matter how small the issue.

      The blaze should have gotten the full story before running with this. Other media outlets have already talked to the other passengers on the plane and completely debunked the idea that he was kicked off the plane or mistreated for being black.

      His bags were stored in a bin over another row of seats and when the flight attendant took the bags out that didn’t belong to the passengers in that row to make room for the bags of the people actually sitting there, the idiot comedian launched into a profanity filled tirade about discrimination. It was the fact that he refused to let the flight attendant do her job, and the fact that he threatened her with physical violence if she touched his bags that he got removed from the fligh

      As thirty year airline pilot now retired the only people that get removed deserved it! Never heard of this guy. Most of these people have an insufferably arrogant egos. To claim the color of his skin is the reason for his removal is totally classless but then liberals have no class. Liberals believe in mythologies anyway and race is their ultimate mythological concept it doesn’t exist, it is an evolutionary belief, we are all descendants of Adam and Eve through Noah and his sons.

    My friend is a flight attendant, a very lovely gentle lady. She has to put up with rude, hostile, vulgar, people like him all the time, and if need be, she sees to it that they are escorted from the flight. Other passenger’s have rights to, whether black, white, or indifferent. This dude, is a typical hostile blac, who believes he is actually somebody and obviously entitled to more than the “white woman”.

      Anyone in any kind of service industry has to put up with all kinds. I’ve worked in retail for 20 years, and I can tell you people can behave very, very badly, regardless of race. It’s pretty obvious she asked him to move his bag so a bigger one or bulkier one would fit better. That’s racism? The race card is played so much it is wearing very thin. Unfortunately, with black unemployment at over 16% and black youth unemployment at over 40%, and the media and the Congressional Black Caucus and the Black Panthers and the unions, et al, constantly stirring the race pot, we will see race riots before the race card is officially declared worn out. The cries of “racism” have increased 10 fold since Barry took office. The idea that we can’t disagree with a man for any reason other than his skin color is patently ridiculous, but it has succeeded in dividing along racial lines better than most ploys. We’re in trouble, gang. Big trouble. Use your words to unite rather than divide. Embrace your neighbor who disagrees with you. Just because we disagree, even vehemently, doesn’t mean we have to be enemies. If those of us on the right side of the debate don’t stop acting the same way the other side does, as if we are enemies of one another, we’ve already lost.

      People are always trying to get oversize bags (bigger that 22×14x9) on as carry-ons. When carry-on space runs out, the biggest bags are tagged and put below in the cargo area. People get mad because they will maybe have to pay the $25 and then wait at baggage claim when they get off.

      United has a reputation of mis-managing customer expectations and therefore gets a lot of complaints. Meanwhile Southwest is a expert, people expect crappy service, they get it; expectations are met – no complaints!

      I solve it by not flying, period. There‘s no way I’m taking an autistic, Down Syndrome adult child, that I’ve taught no one has the right to touch his junk, through TSA. They’d probably shoot him when he had a melt-down. And I’m not being taken into a PRIVATE room to be groped further because I have a prosthetic breast from breast cancer. Plus my son has had heart surgery, and has staples in his breast bone.

      Interesting! Race was almost dead in this country, thank God, until, out of “white guilt” (and no media vetting) America elected a “racist black President”. Now, a lot of the blacks in this country feel they’re “entitled” to their black fist power and a free ride. Before Obama, when does anyone remember ANY black talk about all this race crap? It’s been a LONG time. I was never a racist and I’m still not. I was a big fan of Colin Powell, I’d vote for Allen West in a minute for President with Herman Cain as his V.P., but I look forward to the day when the White House no longer has a “race-baiting” President in it.

      I’m white, female and I’ve been asked to move my stuff overhead to accommodate someone else. Yeah, I didn’t particularly like it, but I was asked so there would be room for someone’s stuff for whatever reason. I certainly didn’t create a scene or yell Racism. This is why he was kicked off, not from being black.

    I agree with him being pissed about having to move his bags for another person. But involving the whole racial aspect loses any sympathy I had for him.

    Airline should stop charging bag fees and this wouldn’t be an issue. I HATE ALL YOU ROLLER BAG PEOPLE DESPERATELY TRYING TO STUFF YOUR CR_AP INTO THE OVEHEAD BINS!

    Before bag fees, the overhead bins had purses and backpacks and nothing else.

      The real truth of roller bags on board…….when they stopped letting us lock our luggage, I was determined not to check it anymore and travel with a small roller bag and a shoulder bag and can get by for a week+ by planning ahead. Saw too many films of guys going through luggage before cart was taken to the aircraft.
      Then we put up with walking barefoot on filthy floors, going through your personal belongings etc. When the latest gig of x-ray machine or pat downs and the sneaky looks of who they will pat down, I decided to stop flying out of convenience and fly only when absolutely necessary. I’ll drive when I can.

      if you are going to post a story, please be honest enough to post all of the story. Delta did not fly a Jewish passenger because our “friends” in Saudi Arabia forbids ANYONE who is Jewish – or anyone who has been in Israel (as indicated on their passport) to set foot in SA. Violating this SA policy could result in major problems for Delta – or ANY OTHER AIRLINE. So don’t be a dumb ******* with these untrue or half true accusations – be honest and blame our dependance on SA oil as the only reason we tolerate this sort of “friendship”.

    Meh, it’s hard to comment on a story like this when nothing is concrete. I mean, there’s no definite answer to whether or not Coylar was already acting unruly before the incident or if the attendant was the one being the jerk. Not only that, but there‘s no details on why the attendant wanted to move the woman’s bags into the overhead bin, other than, of course, Coylar’s claim that it was because the woman was receiving preferential treatment. I guess I’ll have to wait for more information before saying anything about this.

      I had to get to the bottom of a page before reading a comment that used common sense. Everyone else is jumping in and assuming it’s just some a-hole black man with an attitude. That kind of stupidity and pre-judging is exactly what makes it so easy to paint conservatives as racists and works against conservatives when trying to recruit others to the conservative side.
