Comedian George Lopez Threatens to Flee America if Sarah Palin Elected President

Comedian George Lopez is horrified by the prospects of a Sarah Palin presidency — so much so that the film and television star says he’ll move to Canada should the former Alaska governor become the leader of the free world anytime in the future.
In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, he said:
“If Sarah Palin becomes president at any point, I would say ‘allegedly,’ I will move to Canada. I will go further north. I’ve been south but I will go further north. I will leave the United States of America.”
When Morgan then asked Lopez to expand a bit further on this “drastic” decision, he said:
“I like my politicians to actually have a political background…to be politically…um…to know politics…”
When it comes to Palin’s appeal, Lopez is perplexed:
“Is it that maverickness? Is it that homespun kind of Andy Griffith, wink-your-eye, shake-the-imaginary-gun thing. Maybe? Is it just that we’ve become a culture of personality? Do we elect somebody by their smile? Instead of by their content? It’s a little bit of all of that.”

It would seem that Palin, regardless of perceptions surrounding her intelligence and the like, does, indeed “have a political background.” The former vice-presidential contender served on Wasilla, Alaska’s City Council from 1992 until 1996.
Following that stint, she was the mayor of Wasilla from 1996 until 2002. She then became the chairperson of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 until 2004 and subsequently served as governor of Alaska from 2006 until 2009 (she was the first woman and the youngest person elected to the state’s top political spot). In sum, Palin has 19 years of political experience (hence, she has a political background).
On the flip side, President Barack Obama served as a member of Illinois Senate from 1997 until 2004. Then, he headed to the U.S. Senate from 2005 until 2008. He became president of the United States in January of 2009. In sum, he has 14 years of experience. In 2008, with just over a decade of political knowledge under Obama’s belt, Lopez vocally supported his bid for the presidency. Below, watch Lopez speak during an Obama campaign rally:
So, in fact-checking Lopez’s statement that he wants a candidate with political experience, one must conclude that Palin fits the bill. She has a robust background, she has served her local and state government and she most certainly understands how the system works. Yet, Lopez excuses her as a mere “personality.” Oddly, she is more politically seasoned (at least time wise) than her Democratic counterpart.
In the end, perhaps his threat to flee America if and when President Palin is inaugurated is rooted more in general disdain for her conservative viewpoints than it is actual experience?

swelled the tax coffers.
O-yeah…& Prez. Ronald Reagan (a student of history) emulated these ideas to bring us
back from the brink of doomcough Carter’s 13% unemployment & 20% home & car interest rates…again cutting gov’t & tax rates & capital gain rates swelled government coffers with cash from growth.
Even Prez. Clinton could read the tea leaves & reluctantly signed GOP/Newt Gingrich’s bill into law that aided us all (which of course he later took total credit for when it worked–to get re-elected).
So Lopez…go ahead…make my day…leave & join a country that KNOWS how to come back from financial woes…

What would really work for me is to give California back to Mexico, which would allow you to leave the U.S. without having to move… saves gas and is very green, too.
