Rosie ODonnell Says Newt Gingrich Should Read a History Book

Since exiting The View Rosie O’Donnell has continued to occasionally find her way to television screens and media outlets via headlines in celebrity gossip magazines,   a show on the new Oprah Winfrey Network, and occasional guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm.  Appearing on the HLN show of her former fellow left-leaning colleague of the The View, Joy Behar, O’Donnell gave her opinions on current affairs. Take a look at what she had to say about former Speaker of the House, college history professor and prolific author of books on history, Newt Gingrich:

JOY BEHAR, HOST: Yes, but I mean, what about Newt’s plan to drop the child labor laws and put kids to work as janitors?

ROSIE O’DONNELL: Yes.

BEHAR: I mean, where does he come up with this crap?

O’DONNELL: I don’t know. They tried that in Australia many years ago with aboriginal children. It didn’t turn out too well. Perhaps he should read a history book. I don’t know. That guy is a joke.

Are there any  books you would suggest that O’Donnell read?

      Today’s children need to learn to work like we did when growing up. It gives independence and the value of spending or saving their own money. I worked as a young person because it kept me busy and I loved my own money. I used to pick flowers and veggies from my mom’s garden and go the the neighbors to sell it. Then, I bought soda pop, put it on ice and sold it where they were building a school, then I gathered up bottles and got a refund for them.

      When I was old enough to get a real job, I worked at an upscale family restaurant as a bus girl and loved learning to be responsible. Kids can babysit, mow lawns, shovel snow from walks. Anything that is helpful and they can honestly earn spending money and learn something worth while. Kids
      need something to do besides sitting around watching TV or getting in trouble.

      Maybe She should read the book of books(New Testament) and TRY to live by it.
      Sexual imorality is wrong and you don’t need to read the Bible to figure that out.
      The law is written on our hearts. I remember her as a nice, funny lady I only want her to live it on the inside as I have seen on the outside.

      @JUSTONEOFNINE I’m sorry I must disagree. Ignorance is not knowing. We are all ignorant in one way or the other. Stupidity is not knowing and not wanting to know. So I would have to say that she made a stupid statement. Just being ignorant does not cover it. But as long as she get attention for saying stupid things, I’m sure she will continue to do so. After all she is called a comedian, which means she gets paid to be stupid.

      When my son was in highschool, in the life skills class (because he’s mentally disabled), they sent them all to a work site. He got no pay, just credits toward graduation. He still talks about it. He loved it. I wish I could get him another job, but with my health it’s not an option right now. Of course, he has a father that gets up at 5:00 A.M every day and goes to work. It‘s the kids who have no working example who think it’s torture. Why work when you can stay home and play video games, or watch your shows and let the guberment may you.

    BTW .. Rosie .. you idiot .. I went to a “middle class” school and we had “service” volunteer .. we worked in the offices, the lunchroom, for the teachers and yes even janitorial. WE however did not get paid . that would have been a bonus! You twit!

      Fair. He is such a nice guy. Most of the spotlight was on Newt & Romney. Paul scored some points, Bachmann was thoughtful and straightforward. Oddly, Perry came on strong at the end, actually looked better than so far.
