Coming This Fall, ‘All-American Muslim’ Reality Show on TLC

Move over “Sister Wives” and “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding”: There’s a new show in town.
TLC, the television channel known for its sometimes extreme depictions of human behavior (”Hoarding: Buried Alive“ or ”Freaky Eaters,” anyone?) has announced it will debut a new reality show in the fall, taking viewers inside the homes of five different Muslim-American families in Dearborn, Mich. Dearborn is home to a large Muslim-American population, and the Islamic Center of America is the largest mosque in the country.
According to a TLC statement, “All-American Muslim“ will give the audience ”an intimate look at their customs and celebrations, as well as the misconceptions, conflicts and differences they face outside — and within — their own community.”

From TLC, the official description of “All-American Muslim”:
The families featured in the series share the same religion, but lead very distinct lives that often times challenge the Muslim stereotype. Among the handful of subjects profiled are Shadia and Suehaila, who are tight-knit sisters, but while Suehaila wears the traditional head scarf, is active in the Muslim community and prays five times a day, Shadia is outspoken, has piercings and tattoos and recently married an Irish Catholic who is converting to Islam. Also recently married, Nadar and Nawal are having their first baby and trying to find the balance between their traditional Muslim roots and American culture. Mike, Deputy Chief for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Dept., works tirelessly to educate the department about the Muslim religion in an effort to reduce discrimination and ignorance while his wife, an executive who works as a consultant to a major auto manufacturer, struggles to find the balance between work and raising a modern Muslim family.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, TLC has ordered eight 30-minute episodes. The show will premiere in November.

I been watching the religious specials and Rumors of War on GBTV….they have a Muslim dude on there who lays things out pretty well about the different “ideas” in Islam, he seems very moderate. It’s really an informative special.
The thing is, a “moderate” Muslim (should one exist) could not exist in the presence of an extreme Muslin, like most the crazies in the Middle east. Think about it like this, if every Catholic was SUPER CATHOLIC…EXTREME CATHOLIC, then every abortion clinic in the country would be fire-bombed tomorrow. However, Catholics, while feeling that abortion clinics are wrong, still don’t go out and act solely on their strict beliefs…they take Gods word as a whole, they don’t pick and choose the parts that suit them.
I think that’s what radical Islam does, they pick the parts of the religion they want to further their geo-political agenda. I think the Muslim religion has been bastardized by the radicals and shaped into something it never should have been or was. I don’t know…

If others only focus on people like Scott Roeder and others who kill in the name of Christianity, then I guess all Christians are radicals too.
If you only focus on people like Baruch Goldstein or Yigal Amir, you could also say that all Jews are radicals.
However, by only focusing on the fringe, you ignore the vast majority that are peaceful normal people. I know, you’ll probably just say that those people were on the fringe and are not a true representation of those religions. But when it comes to Muslims, you conveniently forget the the vast majority are peaceful people who just want to live their lives like you and I.

There is no way around this. The Koran tells its followers to kill Jews and Christians. It states: Do not take Jews and Christians as your friends. The Koran instructs husbands when they should beat their wives.
Women are property. For instance, if a man dies his wife only receives 1/4 of the household belongings. The rest go to his father, brothers, cousins.
