Committee Cites Holder in Contempt of Congress: Rep. James Lankford Joins ‘Real News From The Blaze’ to Discuss

Wednesday was a wild day in the Fast and Furious congressional investigation and subsequent Justice Department controversy. Voting along party lines, the GOP-led House Oversight and Government Reform Committee cited Attorney General Eric Holder for contempt of Congress, setting up a full House vote next week unless there is some resolution between Holder and Congress regarding documents requested by the House Committee eight months ago which concern how the Justice Department learned that there were problems with an Arizona probe of gun-running into Mexico. President Obama attempted to avoid the committee vote one last time this morning when he granted Holder Executive Privilege in the case.
Committee Chairman Issa and fellow Republicans pushed through though, as Rep. Trey Gowdy introduced a successful amendment that made sure that the record stated that the committee was aware of Obama’s decision to assert Executive Privilege, before proceeding to vote 23-17 in favor of holding Holder in contempt of Congress.
“The President’s assertion of Executive Privilege this morning took us by surprise but did not alter the Committee’s conclusion that documents had been inappropriately withheld,” Rep. Issa said in a statement after the vote. “Executive Privilege only applies to materials that directly pertain to communications with the President and his senior advisors. This assertion indicates that the White House’s role in Operation Fast and Furious and the response to whistleblower accusations has been greater than previously acknowledged.”
The White House was unsurprisingly ticked off with the actions of House Republicans and tried to divert attention away from the investigation.
“Instead of creating jobs or strengthening the middle-class, congressional Republicans are spending their time on a politically motivated, taxpayer-funded election-year fishing expedition,” Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer told AP.

We get the trash out and then we can see how to operate on the jobs. We can never have peace or do anything meaningful when there are those working against the very Justice of this country. There must be sacrifices if we are to maintain this country where we want to have jobs in. Get the Choom thugs out of the White House.

I lived in S.C. for a year and they have people you should be proud of. The kids are very polite and open doors for their elders and it is yes sir or yes maam to people who are older than them. I have observed this.These kids, black or white have manners and go out of their way to be polite. This shows me a lot. These kids represent respect and at least have a good start in life.

We demand a Justice Department that is not political, a Congress who serves all the people and sticks to the Constitution as it is meant to be and a separation of powers in this country. All the citizens are paying taxes to be representated. This is not meant to be a country where non-citizens vote and assume rights meant to be for citizens. Oust all those who are trying to overrun this country with foreigners for us to support and pay for their rearing of their families and their education. We need to keep our resourses for our own citizens and they need to come into this country the right way or not at all.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 4:54amOpinion: What really seems to be happening to US is that the democrats and progressive have uncovered a loop hole in our constitution; that a president and 35 some senators can by blocking impeachment there by create oligarchy dictator?; is it that under current behaviors, bill blockage or such partisanship etc and general rather than state appointment of senators the senate has out lived its usefulness; also perhaps we need another way for citizens to protect our Constitutional rights and economic environment from overstepping govnm and leaders? Do they so fear complete financial collapse that they need to put such internal military security in place? Or will all these steps of massive borrowing and security be self-fulfilling actions lead by them?

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 1:38pmThe Constitution clearly states that laws cannot be enacted that are not used in the Spirit for which the original laws were intended. They will not be, with proper interpretation, able to do anything outside the laws or use them in a context they were not meant to be used in. This is covered as well. Those that devised the Constitution were genius’ and foresaw things coming that we in modern times even would never imagine happening. This Constitution was prayed over and God’s blessings were asked upon it. These laws in Spirit are above what man can do justice with.
God is watching over this country, because our forefathers had the foresight to ask him to. This Constitution is Under God and God says: Let no man put asunder what God hath joined together. I trust Him. We must all pray and seek God’s will for this country and not allow those to ever come into power here again under the guise of what Obama and cohorts have done. This must be, for the sake of our children who need to be re-educated in many instances for they may not have enough knowlege to fight this as we do. Those heading up the education departments and deciding on text books have, over the last 3 decades, at least, dummed down the youth until they are confused. Teach them the Ten Commandments, respect and the Constitution and to have pride and loyalty to God, their families and their countries so they will be able to preserve this nation from enemies within and without.

Go by what is right and just and what it was intended for. Know history and you will see what it was meant for. They want to take their leftist leanings and mold the Constitution to make it looks thus and so, but it does not and will not operate any way but that for which it was meant. Oil and water will not mix. This Consitution was made for this Republic to operate Under God and keep government out of peoples lives in all but the very necessary things of protecting the people and preserving the Constitution.

Fast and Furious was horrible but is it really any different than giving arms to Libyan/Syrian/Pakistani/Afghani rebels who end up shooting our own soldiers? Not really.
Lankford is an Okie and a great guy. He will serve our country well.

Our forefathers died to uphold the laws of this land and as bad as we need jobs, etc., those who are trying to divert the issues of cleaning house are trying to keep those in power who are in a process by design to destroy this country. I say this comes first. This is beyond urgent. Get them out so we can go to work and keep this country upright.

This President and his band of political thugs at the DOJ continue to thumb their noses at Common law judicatsed by the surpreme court. Obama’s refusal to defend legal federal laws of the land is treasonous and is grounds for impeachment proceedings to begin, however, no one has the intestonal fortitude to bring this kind of action. Once again, our elected officials refuse to put their own place at the trough in jeapardy.

Problem is that in my lifetime hardly anyone of political importance is ever really punished for anything. I don’t consider a slap on the wrist as punishment for the kinds of crimes that have been committed by many of these people on both sides of the aisle.
We can only hope that some punishment may happen someday to a DC politician when they break the law.
