Did Beck Just Uncover the Origins of Obama’s New Documentary?

“The Road We’ve Traveled” is an Obama campaign short movie — or alternatively dubbed “docu-ganda” — that, to many, is a stunningly fawning 17-minute account of what the filmmaker posits are the president’s myriad “accomplishments” during his first term.
“Remember how far we’ve come,” opens director Davis Guggenheim’s film. Guggenheim, of course, made waves recently when he asserted that the only “negative” about President Obama is that he has too many positives.
But where does the title and theme for Obama’s mini propagandist piece hail from? Glenn Beck went digging and thinks he might have found the answers in a book from 1942.

This film gives an inside look at some of the tough calls President Obama made to get our country back on track. Featuring interviews from President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Elizabeth Warren, David Axelrod, Austan Goolsbee, and more. It’s a film everyone should see.
For reference, “The Road We’ve Traveled” is featured below in its entirety.
During his Monday morning radio broadcast, Beck reiterated an important observation he made last Friday, and discussed the uncanny resemblance Obama’s movie bears to a book titled, ”The Road We Are Traveling 1914-1942.”
Written by FDR-admirer Stuart Chase, the book focuses on America once it has dispensed with free enterprise entirely. Chase wrote that while he could call this new society “communist, state capitalist, or fascist,“ he preferred the more ambiguous ”Political System X.”
But who is Stuart Chase?
According to historical records, Chase was an American economist and MIT-trained engineer whose writings covered topics running the gamut of semantics to the economy. His mindset was said to have been shaped by Fabian socialism and he was an open admirer of the planned economy of the former Soviet Union. Chase’s early political career advocated birth control and socialism, to name a few.
Often credited with being the originator of the term “New Deal,” a glimpse at a closing quote from his book by the same name just might reveal this author’s mindset: “Why should Russians have all the fun remaking a world?”

Beck mapped out “Political System X’s” main characteristics:
- A strong centralized government
- An executive arm growing at the expense of the legislative and judicial arm
- Control of banking, credit and security exchanges by the government
- Underwriting of employment through armaments or by public works
- Underwriting of Social Security by the government
- Underwriting of food, housing and medical care by the government
- Use of deficit spending to finance underwritings
- Abandonment of gold in lieu of managed currency
- Government control over trade, natural resources, transportation, agricultural production, organized labor unions, and youth corps-enlistments, to name a few
- A youth and people dedicated to the ideology of government authorities
- Heavy taxation of estates and incomes of the wealthy
- State control over communications and propaganda
Chase wrote that if executed correctly, the ship could not be veered off its course once en route.
For Beck, “the road we are traveling” is not only the embodiment of the Obama administration and every goal it is realizing, but is “yet another knife in the back of anyone who doesn’t know [the history]… and a wink to anyone who does.”

* John Podesta was co-chairman of the Obama transition team, former Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton, and founder of The Center for American Progress,
Yep, that Obama Administration is just lucky, I guess. I‘m not sure why they’d choose the name, but it‘s amazing that they’d pick THAT title for the Obama video.

Okay, well MY interpretation is that President Obama has gotten all his idea from the work “The Road Less Traveled” by M. Scott Peck. I‘m sure most here have read that so you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Absolutely CORRECT. Except for the fact that Beck never claimed to “map out the Political System X’s main characteristics.” Beck did, however, reference the book by Stuart Chase where Chase laid it out. It might help if you actually read the book by Stuart Chase, then watch and listen to Glenn enough to hear him quote the characteristics and reference the book by Chase where he got them. Important to know the facts before posting remarks like that. Why not reference the origional source itself? ….as Beck has done. GBTV is awesome. More importantly TRUTH is AWESOME.

Mr. Chase‘s book was as much a warning shot as Hazlet’s The Road to Serfdom.
From Stuart Chase’s Wikipedia entry:
“Chase argued that the increasing prevalence of these trends would make a return to the status quo after the war unlikely”
He’s not advocating the above list. His book is about the economic consequences of the above list.
The list Mr. Beck presents is abbreviated. The fuller list on the wikipedia page has 18 entries, not 12
This misrepresentation of Stuart Chase has been going of for a long time on various websites. I haven‘t tried to track it down to it’s origin. One might be able to track where Mr. Beck got his misinformation by comparing the differences in the list.
It’s basically an unfounded conspiracy theory.

From someone misreading my login (Aubrey somehow became Audrey in their mind), to someone projecting their distaste with their wife onto me. It’s all very odd. In the end, here’s the story: Beck googles, does a show, then assigns some poor soul from UzBeckistan to wiki Stuart Chase and cut and paste their hastily gained knowledge (good thing wiki is open source or there would be some plagiarism going on) into a poorly written, intellectually bankrupt story. But that’s enough for you all, and suddenly a book written in 1942, (that’s 60 years ago friends),becomes the President’s road map. I would much prefer if you had referenced Frosts ‘The Road Less Traveled.’ In any case, what we have here is proof that P.T. Barnum‘s tried and true phrase continues to apply when it comes to the snake oil salesman’s fans.

If you don’t believe me, just look up the Clinton and Reagan executive orders which are revoked in section 803. Cost accounting is when you try to eek out every single cost to your company from every source of labor in order to bill your customer for every single penny. It’s wildly inaccurate, and painstaking if you attempt to implement it.

The book called “The Road We Are Traveling” was sponsored by The Twentieth Century Fund, who has since been renamed The Century Foundation. Of course, it’s a complete coincidence that one of the trustees at The Century Foundation is John Podesta. Who is John Podesta? Well, he’s the founder of The Center for American Progress (CAP), was former Chief of Staff to President Clinton, and was co-chairman of the Obama transition team. Naturally, this is just another in a series of complete but amazing coincidences.
In the book, Chase writes about how we are transitioning from a system based on “free enterprise” into a new, yet-unnamed system that he calls “X”. One might even claim that it is a “fundamental transformation” of the American economic system.

The interpretation of the Constitution which allows for the federal police forces that are fighting vice is the same theory progressives use to undermine other aspects of the constitution. He supported the NDAA, supported the patriot act, created Romneycare, his budget has zero cuts in current spending only cuts in future increases, has been pro choice, pro gun laws, and while governor raised taxes and fees.
The only reason he is not pro choice and pro gun laws right now is he will say anything to get elected. Romney cannot attack Obama on anything. Romney, Santorum, or Gingirch nomination equals a Obama landslide victory in November.

It is Soro’s way of taking down the US Economy so he can rule the financial markets and ultimately the world. He has the same visions as Adolf Hitler did in the 30′s he is a follower of the Fabian Socialist/Progressive Society agenda. This is what his “Open Society Institute” is all about, moving Progressive Ideology to rule the world. They fear an over population of the world so they push mechanisms like mass abortion and mass sterilization of the population. They believe that they are entitled to run the world.

you aren’t seriously thinking “WE” will let this continue long enough for our grandkids to be holding the bag? The “WE”, being Americans of voting / shooting age, that is.
Personally, I don‘t think we’ll be given a chance to not fight back. The liberals are stacking the deck, day by day, pushing us toward defending ourselves, our families and more importantly, our God given rights. They’ll take and take and take until they make “someone” go over the edge. And when they arrest “someone”, we’ll all have to get involved in getting “someone” out of jail. Once force is used by either side, there will be no going back. Then, the Second American Revolution will be ON!
All of the executive orders, handing guns to Mexican thugs, oil pipeline denials, are all designed to get people pi$$ed off. And when “someone” fights back, it will be the reason they call off or stop the election process mid-stream.
And I reiterate, the Second American Revolution will be ON!
