Conan Issues Apology for Palin-Rudolph Segment…to Jimmy Kimmel

Yesterday we showed you the light-hearted segment from Conan O’Brien depicting Sarah Palin hunting Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. But there’s just one problem: an almost identical bit had already been shown two weeks early on the show of ABC rival Jimmy Kimmel. Conan, in a classy move, apologized for the mix-up, which he says was unintentional.

“The staff member responsible for the piece has been fired,” Conan joked , “and we hear he’s been immediately rehired at Jimmy Kimmel. So it all worked out.”

Conan issued the apology via an online video, which included (appropriately) a string of jokes about plagiarism:

I think Sarah Palin is as real as anyone could hope for. As far as politicians go, probably more so than most. Since today is Christmas, I have a little wish list as far as the 2012 elections go. If these people would agree to run, I think a dream team would be Condi Rice for POTUS, Marco Rubio for VP ( the VP position has few required duties, but can be a stepping stone/learning experience whereas the Presidency is not the place to start “learning” about how to run the country, IMO). This time around I think Sarah Palin would be great in a Cabinet position such as Secretary of Energy (which is over the Department of Energy I believe, and 15th in line for President). Sarah Palin is young, and smart, and has everything going for her. She has plenty of time to add layers of qualifications, education and clout. In the meantime, who could complain about Condi and Marco. You have two qualified, experienced individuals who love their country, and fit the Liberal criteria as well, ie., “color, ethnicity, education, first woman, first hispanic, etc.”. I think that Sarah Palin is climbing the ladder toward great things. Perhaps, if she would have spent her political career in the lower 48, people may have taken her more seriously. For now, IMO, it seems as though they don’t think running a state with vast resources and area, but minimal population, like Alaska, is “any big deal”. I don’t agree, but a majority of Americans seem to prefer someone with NO experience in the highest office in the land, as opposed to someone with years of experience, but from a state that they don’t seem to value or relate to. I can’t understand that logic, but for now, that is the way it is. Someday, in the future, I hope to see great things for Sarah Palin. “AUTHENTICY” SHOULD over-ride “FAUX” any day of the week.

The media love to play the parlor game of asking Republicans whether they think Palin is qualified to be President. They ask it so they can pounce no matter what the answer.

I say there is only one correct response to this question:

“I voted for Sarah Palin to serve as Vice-President with a man in his 70′s. I damn well BETTER think she’s qualified to be President. There’s a man who has been in the White House for two years, whom YOU voted for, and he’s STILL not qualified to be President.”

Memorize this answer, you GOPers. Use it often.

Maybe its a good thing that Palin is polarizing. Look close at just who is upset. If she didn’t cause a stir, she would probably be just another RINO that doesn’t cause trouble for anyone. After all, are you interested in electing a TV personality or someone with actual political, as well as human, values. Someone thoroughly grounded in her faith who has the courage of her convictions. Its no wonder she scares the he!! out of the left. Sarah Palin is refreshing!

The astroturfing of hate in comments here. I see alot more people like Palin since the TLC show. She comes across as real, down to earth, and full of life. Let’s put the hate into perspective, progressives are a minority, a loud minority that works hard to forward the narrative they are a much larger identified with segment of people than they are and that the hate for Palin is immense. The truth is Conservatives more than double Progressives in number by using the “we can write off Palin’s electibility because of the large dislike for her” arguement more than the same can be said for the current conservative opinion of Barack Oblahblah. Why is his re-electibility not so quickly written off since deduction and logic prove far more americans dislike him and his policies. Don’t fall for the illusions, find the truth for yourself. Palin is just as electible if not more than Obama today don’t let yourself be fooled by the loud and deceptive voices in media or politics.

Evening Folks. Let’s be honest here. What do you expect the late-night shows are going to do when a major political figure, a woman and a conservative to boot goes hunting and bags a caribou. Frankly, the same type of jokes/videos would have been done had it been anybody else (except for Obama of course). In fact, while you had the usual suspects on the blogosphere nattering away I thought the reaction was quite muted (for example SNL didn’t touch it).
What tends to grate a little though is the crap about how it took her 10 shots (Kimmel) and it was a reindeer (again, Kimmel) when the truth is it was a caribou and she dropped it with one shot when she had a properly sighted rifle.
On the other hand I just love the fact that her show is driving the progressives mad with rage (and I suspect envy) due to it‘s success and I suspect the effect it’s having on people that used to believe the BS being spewed by the left.

Ooops, sorry folks (and Kimmel) I stand a little corrected. A reindeer in Eorope is known as a Caribou in North America so Kimmel was correct when he used the term Reindeer although it was a little disingenous as it’s known as a Caribou here, but it fit the joke better I guess.

I think that she shouldn’t run for President, but not because I don’t like her. I think she would be amazing as President, but getting elected is a different story. You see, she is very polarizing. People either love her or hate her. That means many conservatives would get out and vote for her, but it also means that many on the left would get out and vote for Obama, Mickey Mouse, or who ever was running against her.

If she were to run in this next election, it would energize both sides. Currently, the right is already energized, and we will get out to the polls. However, Obama and the Democrats struggled to get people out to the polls this last election. She will throw her hat into the ring for sure, but we’ll have to see how it turns out. I think I will vote for the Republican, no matter who it is, but I can’t say for sure, because that is how much the Obama agenda scares me.

Palin is nothing more then the RINO’s trying to take over the tea party by using the media to show that she somehow is the one the tea party looks too, When in fact as a member of the original tea party(2007) is Ron Paul.

As much as these Johnny come lately neo cons try to say they are tea party, they are nothing compared to the libertarians that are sitting back laughing at the media.

As a member of the libertarian base, the only reason she is still around is because she is going to get destroyed, and then the neo con’s will have to make a choice, leave the tea party or get on board the real hero of the movement.

Conservatives will stick to their ideals more than liberals, meaning more 3rd part voting, or not voting at all.

      For the most part:
Conservatives = Means justify the Ends
Liberals = Ends justify the Means.

So liberals are more likely to rally behind the same candidate, and why I couldn’t vote for either McCain or Obama.

I can’t imagine how much time the presidency of the United States takes up. Her kids need her and so does her husband. Second, I think her family would be miserable in the White House. They love Alaska, they even state that on Palin’s show. She says she loves the state like she loves her family. They would HATE it in DC. She would have WAY more effect if she stayed with Fox and did just what she’s doing now. She has the power to influence!

I don‘t think she’s running for office. I think she’s perfectly happy supporting other good conservative candidates. You‘re making the mistake of assuming she’s running for president or vice president in the next election, and looking at her through that lense. But she‘s not living her life based on your assumptions of what she’s going to do in 2012.

Besides she can’t really control the “saturation” level. It’s not like she has to go searching for coverage. It’s the media that seeks her out not the other way around. The only publicity she’s created on her own were a handful of twitter comments.
