Congress to Hold Hearings on Threats From Radical Muslims

WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee says affiliates of al-Qaida are radicalizing some American Muslims and that he plans to hold hearings on the threat they pose to the U.S.

Republican congressman Peter King of New York tells CNN’s “State of the Union” that he sees an international movement with elements in the United States of Muslims becoming more radical and identifying with terrorists.

A Minnesota Democrat, congressman Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to the House, says that while it’s proper to investigate radicalization, he thinks it is wrong to single out a religious minority.

On Sunday, groups opposed to King’s hearings plan to rally in New York. President Barack Obama‘s deputy national security adviser will speek on the administration’s approach to countering domestic radicalization.

NEW YORK (AP) — A coalition of over 100 interfaith, nonprofit and governmental organizations plans to rally in New York City against a planned congressional hearing on Muslims’ role in homegrown terrorism.

The coalition says Thursday’s hearing will send the wrong message to U.S. Muslims by “demonizing” them.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, entertainment promoter Russell Simmons and the imam who was an initial key supporter of plans to develop a mosque near ground zero are expected to speak at Sunday’s rally in Times Square.

A group calling itself the Liberty Alliance plans to hold a counter-rally in support of the hearing.

The hearing was scheduled by U.S. Rep. Peter J. King of New York, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security. It’s the first in a series of hearings on “radicalization” among U.S. Muslims.

I find it amazing that Christians call for cleansing of their own ranks. Before Jim Jones murdered all his followers, the churches in the US were working to have him banned or sanctioned and removed from their membership. They called him dangerous. Where are the “reasonable” Muslims. Until they speak out, I won’t have any qualms about taking a very close look at the entire group.

You see, at some point, it won’t matter what they call us. We already are witnessing a change in that regards. We are all tired of hearing ‘racists’, ‘bigots’, etc, when it’s people like Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakan, Waters, Rangel, the CBC, LCC, Pelosi, Harry (the tourisis stink) Reid, etc.
Yes, at some point, they will watch what comes out of their dirty mouths’ more than we ever had to.

Garshk, another PR event by the Republicans. Maybe they should hold on a hearing to determine if cigarette smoking kills people. (But that will never happen and we know why, don’t we.) This will have all the relevance and impact of reading the Constitution, well at least the white parts, on the floor of the House – the empty House. Empty because all the god-fearing conservative Tea Party patriots were out spending their per diem on PBR and chicken jojos.

If people wearing red hats are constantly attacking you or rallying together and saying that the “red hat” clan is going to take over America and pass the Red Hat Belief system upon all in the land…then you target and eliminate the “red hat group” I don’t see how that is discrimination of a minority. It‘s going after who’s going after you. I’m so sick of hearing about how the Muslims are being targeted etc…well it’s the Muslims that are the ones attacking and threatening the USA, so hell yeah we’re targeting them. You’re all not going to like what is about to happen, but it’s coming! There are 10′s of 1,000′s of mulslims living here.. How many of them do you think will stand with you as a US citizen and tell their islamic cleric leaders “NO”, when they tell them they must abide by the Quran? Keith Ellison said “it does make sense to talk about radical elements of Islam. Well sir, that is exactly what these hearings are going to do, so sit down and shut up for now. I find it terribly revealing that very few american muslims are standing up and talking about the implementation of sharia either into the US Constitution or replacing the Constitution with said law. They are silent on this front (afront). They simply are not to be found. They are, in the US, by-and-large in favor of their Islamic laws being incorporated or replacing our founding documents.

This was true with the UN Declaration of Human Rights as pronounced in 1943, rejected by Islam worldwide, then augmented in 2000 with the introduction of sharia law into the document.

These hearings, thanks to King, will help to shed light on the true goals of Islam as it is viewed by the majority of the American muslim community.

He most likely got in bed with them for election support, (they most likely needed him and Conyers to inifiltrate our Congress with their jhadist ideology, and anti American groups got what they paid for. Now, the chickens are coming home to roost.. We support Peter King, someone who has the b’s to stand up for American. Democracy is (majority) mob-rule. You see that happening not only the ME, but in Wisconsin. That was why the Founders created the ‘Electoral College” for our Presidential Elections. The EC actually elects the Pres. That is only one of the ‘checks and balances’ you hear about. Another is the Presidential ‘veto’ of legislation which could be one-sided by the House and Senate being of one party. The Senate would have to have a 2/3 majority to over-ride a Presidential veto.

The problems we’ve seen is because we had ONE party in both the Sen/Cong, and an anti-American (“fundamentally transform”, remember?) in the WH. Of course, you need a stupid, dumbed-down electorate to pull the lever for them to be elected. That always helps. Just change education over a long period, and you’ll have an electorate dumb enough that will pull the lever for whoever you tell them to.
I’d say another four-year term should be enough to have the second American Revolution. Pick the side you want to be on.

The followers of Islam have a mission to spread their religion across the world by any means necessary and you only have the option of paying a jizya tax, which is an acceptance of subjection to Islam and sharia law, convert to Islam or be killed. There are no other exceptions. Please read the Koran for yourself and you will find the truth about how evil Islam is.

How about not allowing a “radical” Imam to protest in front of the WH. The only people suggesting that US Muslims will be demonized are Al Sharpton and the coalition, which pretty much says it all. Peaceful Muslims no more want to be blown up than other peaceful citizens. And then there is the “single out religious minority” comment – the fact is, sir, it was “radical” Muslims that flew planes that killed over 3,000 people, it was a “radical” Muslim at Ft Hood, it was a “radical” Muslim in Time Square, etc. WAKE UP, PEOPLE!!!!! However, if there actually ‘are’ any muslims who want to assimilate -as much as possible- into American Culture, why not have any connections exposed between muslims in the US and terrorists abroad? How would you ever be respected as a Patriotic, American Constitution-supporting individual as long as there are people of your faith wanting to subvert US interests? Eventually you would become a target of American suspicions.

Let me make a small but significant augemntation in your statement……”not compatible with the US Constitution. The Constitution of the US is what the radicals are attempting to replace with sharia law. Constitutional supporting candidates are who we need to be supporting in 2012 (federal, state and local elections). Nothing else!

If a candidates platform is centered on the economy, immigration, overturning Oh-bummercare, or anything else, they need to be shown the door. Nothing wrong with those concerns being part of their platform, but, the center of their platform should be the Constitution of the US. Here is what will happen, after the King investigations have run their course.

Congress will pass a “Defense of American Law” against Sharia that will probably have about the same effect as the “Defense of Marriage Act” had on the spread of gay marriage and civil unions.

Then Muslims will go back to enforcing Sharia law on themselves, as they are doing even now where it doesn’t too blatantly violate ours. Some will push for toleration of more and more extreme Sharia practices, others will shrug and go on with their lives as they are doing now. Here and there, some understanding of Sharia may prevail in the state and Federal courts, e.g., that Muslim women cannot be forced to expose their faces but may submit fingerprints or DNA for identification purposes.

There will be no public beheadings or stonings, and the White House will not sprout minarets. The Republicans will continue to raise a Muslim Scare, the Democrats will scurry along after them. In all this it will resemble the McCarthy era, not that I would minimize either the Muslim threat now or the Communist threat then. Some terrorist plots will be broken up, some innocent Muslims may be victimized, until the government overreaches or people simply lose interest and move on to the next thing.

Isn’t this always how American history seems to play out?

Yeah, and Muslim men will not drive over their disobedient daughters after the act is signed into law, and stupid American women who marry Pakistanis won’t have their children taken “home” to Pakistan never to be seen again. Also the mosque at ground zero wont have a minaret. Just plain ole USA. Rep. King should spend his time more wisely. Perhaps he could convene a hearing on why the ACLU and CAIR are so underfunded.

      @Wyatt:
Yep…just have faith in Eric Holder…we know how that goes down, don’t we? Here’s another example for you…

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms inadvertently gave machine guns to drug cartels in Mexico. Eric Holder is refusing to release the documents in the case to Republican Senator Grassley. The Justice Department is in charge of the ATF and thousands of guns were sent to the drug cartels by our own government on the assumption that they would be able to trace the guns and find out who was getting them. Can you believe this? The US government allowed assault rifles to be sold to “suspected straw purchasers” for an illegal trafficking ring. What happened was that the agents didn’t track the weapons after that. Know who blew the lid off on this story? It was an agent from the ATF who said he couldn’t hold it in any more. He said that he believes that it is because of his own agency that Agent Terry was killed with an assault weapon because he was forced, by Obama and Holder, to use a bean-bag gun as opposed to using a machine gun. In a separate case, not related to this, authorities are saying that a weapon purchased in the Dallas Ft. Worth area was used in a February 15th attack on two US Immigration and Enforcement agents as they drove on a highway in Mexico, killing one and wounding the other. The man who bought the gun, his brother and a neighbor were part of a suspected gun trafficking ring. The point is that they bought the guns from the US government through a straw man. Now we have the ATF agent coming forward and saying that he can’t live with himself anymore.

So, not only are terrorists telling you that their motive is based on Islam, but the track record of Islam suggests that it’s wise to look over your shoulder when it comes to dealing with Islam.

Each investigator at these hearings should familiarise themselves with “taqiyya”, of course, because the lies will come thick and fast. Said investigators should also list every atrocity commited by these savages and invite the attending muslims to explicitly condemn these vicious acts.

Some people are afraid that a Congressional hearing about radicallzed Islam and might cause people to “demonize” Islam as a whole. Well, I think the terrorist record has pretty much “demonized” Islam with good reason. Most, if not all the terrorist attacks worldwide, over the past several years have been Islamic related. I think that the failure of Islam to denounce and condemn worldwide terrorism speaks for itself. It’s about time someone in Congress or the Senate took the initiative to investigate Islamic and Muslim organizations in America that funnel their financial support for terrorism to the radical terrorist grupos.

ONE: 99% of all terrorists interested in harming the USA are from the Middle East and are Muslim.

TWO: Middle Easterners and Muslims blow up just as easy as non-Middle Easterners and non Muslims.

Just because a few tens or hundreds of millions of the over one billion Muslims in the world believe you are an infidel and that you must convert, be subjugated or killed doesn’t mean that all Islam is bad.

If you felt that way, you’d be intolerant and bigoted against moderate Huns, Visigoths, Vandals, Communists, Nazis, anarchists. cannibals and pedophiles too.

You cannot allow the beliefs and actions of only millions in a group determine the way you regard them in general.

If muslims keep shoving down our throats to tolerate them while enjoying american freedom and way of life then I say the next american revolution will be christians against the muslims because although they are a minority now (I disagree) in 5-10 years that will change. the pot has been put on the stove and the water is starting to heat up now what the eventual event that brings it to a boil will most likely be some islamic radical cell in the US bombing or destroying buildings/people etc. I understand I’m speculating but I could easily see it happening within the next 10 years. by 2020 basically. I see minor attempts at getting the word out but the media is doing a fantastic job of just ignoring the subject all together.

Obama is not a Muslim. When will you folks learn??

The Muslims who hate America hate us because of our foreign policy, so hopefully, after Rep. King is done with his little political stunt, we can examine how our blind loyalty to Israel and our tolerance of oppressive dictators throughout the Arab world has caused this hatred. Michael Scheuer, a leading analyst at CIA covering the Middle East, has been saying for years that the hatred that Muslims in the Middle East feel toward the US is not at all irrational and highly understandable. The terrorism they perpetrate is inexcusable, but we should nonetheless understand where the hatred fueling it is coming from and adjust our behavior, since it doesn’t actually require much sacrifice on our part. Getting out of expensive foreign wars and stopping aid to countries that we shouldn’t care about would be a welcome change. And we likely will see less hatred from Muslims over there as a result. So hopefully, when we’re done examining the guilt of Muslims, let’s try to focus a little bit on our own ills as well. Not politically popular as a stance to be taken by our politicians, but one that is highly necessary.
