Conservative Group Says Over 60 Companies Have Joined In Boycott Of ‘All-American Muslim’

As already reported on The Blaze, Lowe’s Home Improvement has pulled its sponsorship from TLC’s “All American Muslim” after a conservative group known as the Florida Family Association (FFA) emailed companies and asked them to do so.

The group said the program is “propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values.”

Now the group says Lowe’s isn’t the only company to pull its sponsorship from the controversial reality show.

“The conservative group claims that more than 60 companies that it emailed, from Amazon to McDonald’s, have also pulled adds from TLC‘s ’All-American Muslim,’” reports Business Insider.

However, Lowe’s is the only company to publicly confirm that it has withdrawn its sponsorship. If this is an indication that Lowe’s is the only company to pull its ads, and that the other companies contacted by the FFA haven’t, it could be a major PR nightmare for the home improvement giant.

“Lowe’s decision is controversial but understandable. As soon as the Florida Family Association put out a letter condemning the show, the home improvement store faced the possibility of a boycott by conservative Christians. Pulling the ads, Lowe’s risked outraging liberals,” writes Business Insider.

Branding expert Laura Ries said Lowe’s made two mistakes. The first was advertising during a show that could be construed as controversial. The second was pulling advertising too quickly.

“For a big national brand like Lowe’s, they’ve always got to be incredibly careful when advertising during any show that could be deemed controversial,” she said. “Will it seriously damage the brand in the long term? Probably not. But it is a serious punch in the stomach.”

“Indeed companies like McDonald’s may be taking the surreptitious way out right this moment,” notes Business Insider.

Overall, analysts said the furor is unlikely to damage Lowe’s brand in the long term.

“For a company that generates $50 billion in annual revenue, I don’t view this as something that will have a meaningful impact,” said Morningstar analyst Peter Wahlstrom. “I‘m hopeful this blows over and I’m certain management is as well.”

Still, some worry Lowe’s decision could “hurt Muslims,” particularly those among the 150,000 to 200,000 who live in the Detroit area.

“Metro Detroit and Dearborn have been the focal point of a number of anti-Muslim movements,” said Dawud Walid, executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Michigan chapter. “There are organized forces in our society that want to marginalize American Muslims to the point where they don’t want to see any portrayals of Muslims that regular Americans can connect to.”

    Why do we tolerate a religion of violence? If I began a religion that suggested human sacrifice, would that be allowed or protected? How about if my new religion said to kill everyone who did not believe as I did? Allowed? We just need to grow a set and say that Islam is a practice that condones violence and is therefore not protected in this country.

      There are no Muslim-Americans living in the U.S.of A. We do have muslims living in America just not muslim-Americans. The muslim will never love America, or hold her in high esteem until America follows the dictates of the Koran. (I will not do that).

      Compare that fact with other religions in America. I don’t hear the Jew saying we must be like them before they believe this country represents something no other country is able to provide. I really don’t know of any other religion that holds this great country in such contempt. Unless you can call the atheists in America a religion.

      There is a comedy in Canada called little mosque on the prairie , dealing with all religions seems to be quite funny, maybe it’s time to bring people together, even if it starts with a TV show, don’t forget there are quite a few Muslims that are very western.

      years after Christ’s visitation. Why did they need a religion of their own; that basically takes everything God taught man over 3 to 4 thousand years and flips it on it’s head?

      Actually Riseandshine, I’m quite informed, and even if your zeitgiest, or whichever other tin hat theory of Dick Cheney, Bush, Big Oil, the Bildaburgs, Masons, and Militant wing of the Salvation Army were correct and they were responsible for 9/11, does it not concern you about all the celebrations going on throughout th Muslim world on 9/12, or the fact that to this day there is no genuine or substancial condemnation of the attacks and a effort th clear their good name throughout the Muslim world?       Seriously…try selling something to muslims. If you don’t keep their hours, their observances and their sensibilities, they boycott you. Think I’m kidding? I’ve seen entire shopping districts in the Sydney area fade away after muslims populated the area. And no…business couldn‘t adapt to cater to them because it’s impossible to cater to them unless you’re a muslim. They only patronise muslim businesses. So saying all that..does it make sense for companies to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertising on a programme for an audience that won’t respond to the products anyway? Particularly something like McDonalds which doesn‘t have halal meat in all it’s locations?

If you‘re thinking McDonald’s is arbitrarily anti-muslim I can tell you with confidence that they offer halal burgers in locations around the world. What this show is, is a propaganda exercise and kudos to these companies for seeing through the liberal hollywood smoke screen.       I just want to know how many viewers that show has….who actually cares and would watch a show on the lives of American muslims…I’m not in the least interested in such a show and would never watch it. At the same time, I don’t see a show about a day in the life of American Christians…nor American Mormons, nor American Hindus…etc.

      I watched a few episodes out of curiosity for their lifestyle, but when the newlywed lady made her new husband get rid of his beloved 15 year old beagle, because he was “unclean”, and “one cannot say their prayers with dog hair on them” and blame it on her allergies….well, that just burned my biscuits.

      I wholeheartedly agree!! In fact, I called Lowe’s HQ in NC, spoke to someone on the other end, nice lady and told her that I‘d be doing ALL my home improvement shopping at Lowe’s from now on. Nice to see some upper level corporate management with some balls. Went there today and bought some Sch. 40 to finish my hoop house. Keep that steel spine lubed up. America needs more corps. which enjoy, and support, the free enterprise system. And hopefully, the little PC CA state senator, Ted Lieu, who made all this fuss, will see all the Lowe’s stores in his district close down. At least until the little j.o . is not re elected.

    I love Lowe’s, always have, always will. Will patronize them even more because they have stood for American principles (if only we could pull “made in China” from their shelves). This show is a blatant attempt to portray muslims as something they are not. You will never see the true under belly of this vile sect… I wonder if they will show a kid stealing from a candy store.     The ratings have tanked and they’re not even breaking the top 100 after only 5 or 6 episodes. Americans saw what a white-wash, watered-down version of Islam is presented, one-sides and kid-gloved, meant to promote an ideology that it doesn’t even properly present. Ratings now in the gutter. What company wants to invest money into a loser?

      I couldn’t watch it after I saw a commercial for it. There was a women claiming some guy behind her on an airplane was “uncomfortable” because she was on the plane–and she she was all “I am going to teach a class to educate people like you, shut up” blah blah

      I’m sorry all these Islamists say they want to kill us, and end America. BUT I have to believe them when they say that, I shouldn’t have to be re-educated.

      THEKULIGS..I’ve been at airports checking into a flight and have walked past a muslim laying down a prayer mat and begin praying…yeah..that’s a reassuring thing to see as your board a flight. Muslims need to understand…they have to earn our trust- not the other way around. They‘re an alien culture here and there’s a substantial movement among them that’s hostile to Americans and westerners. They see western culture as permissive and in need of transformation. I have seen muslim youth in Australia who prowl our beaches there leering at and insulting Australian women because our beaches are topless. We have seen their clerics radicalizing their believers in their mosques and meeting places. Are all muslims radical? No. But clearly there’s enough radicalized and hostile muslims among them to be a credible threat. Santizing Islam is not the answer as this show is attempting because clearly Islam has a problem.

      Not so fast… There would eventually be more cars on the road as the Muslim men multiplied their seed with their wives and concubines. Housing needs would increase and real estate prices would skyrocket. In Israel, the Christians are being run out of the Old City and Bethlehem by the Muslims and the Jews are being out-numbered by the birth-rate of Israeli Muslims. Talk about over-population…

      I absolutely agree! We need to get back to giving rights to the holiest living human, the fetus. After we kick them out we can focus on investigating miscarriages and not cleaning up after Christmas dinner everagain! I cannot wait until there are so many poor children we will be able to hire them, with dignity, and as little pay as possible (they’re just kids, they’ll be fine!) under The Newt’s economic plans. The Newt/The Donald 2012 for a more Christlike Christmas! Just think! We can hire those poor little rats to clean up Thanksgiving so we can get a real jump on Black Friday.
