Conservative Leaders Write Boehner Supporting Bachmann in Muslim Brotherhood Letters Controversy

Conservative leaders are coming to the defense of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), whose inquiry into the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence in America has drawn a considerable amount of controversy and debate.

Seventeen conservative commentators, former legislators and heads of conservative organizations have sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio), expressing their support for Bachmann and the four other signers of a June 13 letter that requested information from the Obama Administration concerning possible links between the Muslim Brotherhood, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the U.S. intelligence community and the U.S. Departments of State and Justice.

The June 13 letter, signed by Bachmann along with GOP Reps. Trent Franks, Louie Gohmert, Thomas Rooney and Lynn Westmoreland, has been criticized by Muslim-American Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) and many of his Democratic colleagues, many media commentators, and some high profile Republicans, including South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Grahm and 2008 Republican presidential candidate Arizona Sen. John McCain.
In the letter sent Friday to Speaker Boehner, conservatives argue that the five Republican House members did not insult or make any antagonistic comments about the Islamic religion, raised legitimate questions, and did not make the accusations against top State Department and Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, that detractors like Sen. McCain have alleged.

“Members of Congress take an oath to a Constitution that has its viability contingent on the security of the nation whose government it informs. Rep. Bachmann and her colleagues have asked welldocumented, specific, and serious questions about issues and personnel whose relationships with senior federal officials or branches of the federal government could be animated or influenced by groups affiliated with, or a philosophy grounded in, radical Islam. This is not only within their right as Members of Congress but is necessitated by the risk these groups and individuals might impose to our country.”

Signers of the letter to Speaker Boehner include: David Barton, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III, and FamilyTalk Radio President James Dobson.

The following is the full text of the letter to Boehner:

The Honorable John A. Boehner

Speaker of the House
H-232,

The Capitol Washington, DC 20515

Dear Speaker Boehner:

We are writing to express our concern regarding criticism Rep. Michele Bachmann has received for requesting information from the Obama Administration concerning possible links between the Muslim Brotherhood, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the U.S. intelligence community and the U.S. Departments of State and Justice.

Neither Rep. Bachmann nor Reps. Louie Gohmert, Trent Franks, Tom Rooney or Lynn Westmoreland, in their letter of June 13 to the Inspectors General of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Department of State 1, insulted any individuals nor made antagonistic comments about the Islamic religion. Rather, pursuant to public statements by some of the Obama Administration’s own officials and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) testimony given in U.S. courts 2, they have raised legitimate questions about the ongoing contacts between organizations linked (by our government itself) to Islamism and federal agencies and officials.

As members of the House Intelligence, Judiciary, and Armed Services committees, the five signatories of the letters referenced above have relevant legislative standing to ask the questions they have submitted. Additionally, it is surprising and disappointing to us that Rep. Bachmann and her colleagues would be criticized, instead of applauded, for bravely demanding answers to matters essential to the safety of the American people and our Armed Forces.

Organizations that credibly are reported to be engaged in or supportive of activities that undermine the security of the United States, whether through acts of terrorism, efforts to introduce Sharia law into local, state, or federal governance, or the influence of public policy commensurate with the interests of Islamist groups or governments, merit more than mere verbal concern. They demand careful scrutiny and, should such scrutiny prove their danger, prompt and decisive action.

Instead, some of her own Republican colleagues have assailed Rep. Bachmann for asking the questions she raised. U.S. Sen. John McCain said on the Senate floor that her State Department letter was “nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable citizen (Ms. Huma Abedin).”3 U.S. Sens. Lindsey Graham and Scott Brown have also made public comments disparaging her efforts.

Much of the media coverage of the letters written by Rep. Bachmann and her colleagues has inaccurately implied that they constitute accusations or suspicion of troubling connections between Ms. Abedin and organizations that sponsor or condone terrorism or the introduction of Sharia law into our legal system. This inaccurate coverage has naturally resulted in widespread misunderstanding of what the letters actually said. That may have been a factor in your own statement that “accusations like this being thrown around are pretty dangerous.”4 Rep. Bachmann and her colleagues accused Ms. Abedin of nothing. Rather, questions about her family’s extensive and long-time affiliations with the Muslim Brotherhood were asked by Rep. Bachmann and her colleagues. In our view, given Ms. Abedin’s high post in the State Department and close personal relationship with our Secretary of State, such inquiries warrant answers, not opprobrium.

No one is asserting that Ms. Abedin is a security threat. However, given the very public policy and political positions of her mother and other family members, it is only wise to ask if their views have influenced hers and, if so, in what way they might be affecting her work in the State Department. For example, it is worth knowing if the State Department followed its own security clearance standards regarding Ms. Abedin given her familial relations with people in the Muslim Brotherhood.

Members of Congress take an oath to a Constitution that has its viability contingent on the security of the nation whose government it informs. Rep. Bachmann and her colleagues have asked well- documented, specific, and serious questions about issues and personnel whose relationships with senior federal officials or branches of the federal government could be animated or influenced by groups affiliated with, or a philosophy grounded in, radical Islam. This is not only within their right as Members of Congress but is necessitated by the risk these groups and individuals might impose to our country.

Many of us have had the privilege of serving in elective or appointive office or positions of public leadership. We believe Rep. Bachmann has shown good judgment, undeniable courage, and great patriotism in sending the letters for which she is, by some, being castigated. We are grateful for her leadership.

We would be pleased to meet with you or the appropriate members of your staff to discuss these matters at your convenience. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

McCain/Graham and Boehner ARE WHY I no longer want to be a GOP member.

They are RINOs who TRASH other GOP members when RARELY do liberals trash other liberals.

    Add to the RINO list

Olympia Snowe: gave us ObamaCare by being ONLY GOP to sign releasing OBamaCare out of the senate into Pelosi’s hands in Congress

Scott Brown gave us Dodd/Frank Law by being the ONLY GOP to sign off on it.

    Murkowski from Alaska is another.

“Seventeen conservative commentators, former legislators and heads of conservative organizations have sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio), expressing their support for Bachmann…” Okay. No current members of congress signed this did they? Many have spoken out against her baseless, slanderous remarks, but no current member of Congress will support her?

Bachman was challenged to give the evidence for her beliefs, which she has failed to do. No suprise. But she appeals to the fringe, just as Joseph McCarthy did with his campaign against communism, one of that most pathetic episodes in American history.

Of course nothing will come of this because it’s simply stupid. But fear and hatred is the currency of the right, and Bachmann is investing. I’ll give her credit for that.

      You know JZS,

Next you‘ll be telling us that the finance committee doesn’t have the authority to cut spending.

Who made this a public issue? It wasn’t Bachman. She acted with professionalism.

Wasn’t it people like you who were raising questions about Bush and his relationship with Osama Bin Laden?

You guys had every right to ask “Hey, is there something more to this we should know, now that he is President?”.

WE adults didn’t whine and scream that you guys were being prejudicial against the President. And now it’s time for you guys to grow up and be adults along with the rest of us and realize that we live in a dangerous world, and that in order to navigate it safely, some damn questions WILL BE ASKED in the spirit of due diligence.

“No current members of congress signed this did they? Many have spoken out against her baseless, slanderous remarks, but no current member of Congress will support her?”

Slander? I didn’t read any slander.

And No current members signing the letter is MORE concerning to me. How much influence does the Internatiional Islamic Community wield in our Government? I know people CONSTANTLY harp that AIPAC controls our foreign policy. So is that it? No other group has money and clout? If our reps can be bought off by one group, then obviously they are for sale to the highest bidder!

but what has been more disgusting than any cesspool is the way the ‘establishment republicans’ have shown themselves to be similarly wicked. I guess I was brought up to think Judges could not possibly be bribed, Priests would never commit a sin, Police actually protected and served, and Republicans REALLY represented the people and protected the nation. More than the judges, Priests and police – the reality about ‘establishment Republicans’ has been most disillusioning and shocking.

Boehner is selective about his efforts as Speaker. He appears to accept the corruption of the Administration as ‘par for the course’. So Let Obama and his gangsters ruin this country. As long as he is Speaker he will not make waves because he likes being Speaker. What an ego trip this man is on. He plays politics instead of representing the rights of citizens.and the Constitution. Obama should be impeached and if Boehner had any audacity, he would concentrate his efforts to investigate the utter corruption of this administration, in addition to the very faulty background of the President. Not only are radical Islamists infiltrated into our government, they are setting up sleeper cells throughout this country. Their intentions are not in the best interests of Christianity nor Judism much less freedom and the Constitution. One merely needs to read the Quaran to realize their violence and indifference toward infidels, who are their enemies to be converted or destroyed. Look at the history if you can find one that has not been altered. Boehner is a coward and will be remembered for the fool he is in helping to cover up the truthful agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood.

This country is going to perish through it’s own ambivalence, stupidity, and naivete. The ambivalent are caught up in their own ‘reality’ show and can’t be bothered to read, listen, and decide who should lead this country. They will either not vote at all or vote for someone because someone they know is. Afterward, they will complain how ****** things are. Stupid, because they know what the deal is and will still vote the opposite in spite of non-sensible positions and because of a smile, race, or payback for what happened 170 years ago. And those are whites and blacks. Naive because they buy into the baseless, shallow, self-aggrandizing , feel-good, bleeding heart crap that obama spews. They completely ignore any bit of common sense they may possess. They wouldn’t do half the things with or for their own family that they do willing against their country. They are so enamored with the power to ‘buck the system’ that once dearly held values like: family; morals, responsibility; good will; cooperation; unity, fiscal responsibility decency and love are all four letter words now.

We know who and why the welfare leaches and illegals will vote for.

Those that sincerely believe in their heart-of-hearts in what obama is doing, even though I disagree with them with every fiber of my being, I respect them, for they have that right and freedom, as do I to believe the opposite.

For the first time in my life, I am truly afraid for this country.

Joe McCarthy tried to root out communist in the Gov and in Hwood. He got slammed for it, discredited. I submit history and current policy show he was right. The Government is full of socialists as is Hwood. Now here we are reaping the benifits of his demise in politics. Maxine Waters just said your a bigot for being against Sharia Law. The whole black caucus are members of the Socialist Party of America. Obama is exicuting Cloward and Piven perfectly. All the minority groups are more important than Whites. I have never, never been a bigot or prejudice in any way shape or forum. Now I’m re thinking my attitude. We elected a Black president, but now we are faced with the fact that if you don’t like his policy…..your a racist. I no longer recognize our country……the needs of the few seem to out way the needs of the many. Personal responcibility is gone and we need to be one of the collective. Ants, Bee’s are a great example of socialism. The ruling class and the working class. Wake up America, this is where we are headed.

So what really is attacking the citizens of the United States and our nation as a whole. Is it the military, industrial, banking complex? Is it the islamists of the world seeking their one world government caliphate? Is it our own greedy, corrupt officials seeking a continuance of their political power. Is it our academics in their ivory towers with their godless, progressive ideas who seek to perfect the human race through their lies and junk science. Is it our mass media who use their awesome powers over our minds to control us for a price received from the highest bidder. I do not truely know. Perhaps we are just trying to make everyone happy. More likely, we have turned away from god. Now I’m not trying to make a plug for the book “The Harbinger”, but by mentioning it, I guess I am. Well so be it. I recommend it. And, I‘m not getting a dime for posting this and I don’t care. I truely believe that if we continue to allow secular humanism to govern our society to the point that we have allowed it to, god will leave us all out in the cold. I, for one, sure let Boehner know what I thought of this. He’s a HUGE disappointment from my perspective.

He should be all over the media, doing prime-time specials and screaming from every rooftop about the failures of this president and what the GOP has done in the House. Instead, we go weeks at a time without seeing his face. He could certainly garner attention if he chose to. How are sheeple supposed to make the right choice this election when one side is rarely seen, while the other gets play 24/7 (and favorable play, at that)?

I donated money to him many times in the past, as well as many of his buddies. I’m about done with that. If he pushes Bachmann any farther, I WILL be done.

If Boehner and this gang can’t beat Obama–the hands-down worst and most anti-American president in the history of this nation–they’re completely worthless.

Are we to expect that anything will come of this letter and the serious questions that it raises ? Hmmm. Think with the Obama Thug Administration even the SCOTUS has decided that only the voters can solve this mess by throwing these bums out in November. Thanks SCOTUS and our congress for proving that the PEOPLE really do rule and those people had better get busy IF they want to prevent the Obama thugs from “ changing ” America into a political landscape which no sensible person would economically recognize nor wish to safely inhabit .

They have infected our Government and are allowed to slip in between the cracks. Hell I got more vetting by the FBI and CIA then they do today while I was in the Army

Michele Bachmann is right. The Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated our Government.
They hold high positions. They are possibly a major threat to America’s security.

Should be a rule only 3rd or 4th generation immigrants can serve in the Government.

Name one – besides Weiner’s poor wife
You are as deranged as Bachmann – and that a lot of deranged.

I‘m not sure what you’re having a problem with. I read the headline and found exactly what I expected.
…And what’s that about Palin? She’s not even mentioned.

Bachmann is a kook attempting to get airtime. There is nothing wrong with investigating the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence, but she implied that Abedin is some kind of terrorist threat. Bachmann should be ashamed, but I highly doubt that‘s an emotion she’s capable of.

Thank you for defending Michele Bachmann! Why is it that we have to give “Special” attention to muslims for? Its like everyone is afraid to offend the muslims! Give me a break and stand up for our country and constitution Please. At least Mrs. Bachmann has the courage to ask serious questions.

Hey Blaze, what the heck is your headline trying to say? I had to read it three times and I still didn’t get what you where trying to say. Are they making a controversy between Palin and Conservatives…did she write Muslim Brotherhood letters?

They story was good though, work on headlines, keep Jeffy away from the keyboard.

      DARMOK:
It helps if you try to keep up with current events and stories. The headlines were clear and I know what it referred to because it’s been all over the news. Try to keep up.

I guess I can’t keep up with every story, one or two slip by. I didn’t know anything about this, and still find the headline a little clumsy.
