Controversial Comic Backs Out of Media Correspondents‘ Dinner Following Van Susteren’s Call for Boycott Over Sexist Remarks

Following Greta van Susteren’s call for a boycott of the annual Radio & TV Correspondents’ Dinner for inviting comedian Louis C.K. — who Van Susteren dubbed a “pig,” and who has been known to call Sarah Palin a c–t — C.K. has reportedly backed out of the dinner, saying he “just didn’t want to do it anymore.” His tweet about the subject follows:

Louis C.K. Pulls Out of Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner After Greta Van Susteren Attacks HimIt is unknown whether Van Susteren’s blistering blog post on the subject, headlined “I refuse to go to the Radio and Television correspondents’ dinner — no one should go,” was the cause of the cancellation. You can read several passages of it below:

The headliner of this year’s Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner is “comedian” Louis C.K. Comedian? I don’t think so. Pig? yes.

He uses filthy language about women…..yes, the C word…and yes, even to describe a woman candidate for Vice President of the United States. It isn’t just Governor Palin he denigrates. He denigrates all women and looks to the crowd to laugh.

I refuse to show any support for this guy or for the Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner Committee who hired him. I think the organization that hired him is just as bad as he is. It is no secret that he denigrates women.

FreeRepublic’s Kristin Taylor thinks this Van Susteren post was probably involved:

Taylor calls this afternoon with a different interpretation: ”That’s a cop-out,” he said. “But it’s a polite, professional way of withdrawing.”

Taylor also said C.K. should never have been invited in the first place, and attributed the invitation to the liberal bias of the Washington media.

“It’s because he said those things about Sarah Palin that the D.C. media thought it was OK,” he argued. “If he had said those things about Michelle Obama, no way in hell he would’ve been invited.”

However, some say Van Susteren’s attack was unwarranted. Over at Laughspin, Dylan P. Gadino accuses Van Susteren of not doing enough research on the topic before attacking the comedian:

There sure is more, Greta. And maybe you should’ve actually listened to “more” – that is, if you listened to anything at all — before demonizing a man for a few crass comments he made on a radio show. That’s right, folks. These aren’t even lines from his act. It’s all from an appearance on SiriusXM’s Opie and Anthony Show from December of 2010; it came a few days after his now-infamous drunken airplane tweeting, when he typed a series of gibberish and incredibly silly (and surely blue) jokes about Sarah Palin. And by the way, he later told GQ he regretted typing those things.

Is Louis C.K. a misunderstood comedian who made a series of off-color gaffes? Or was his withdrawal completely warranted? Weigh in below.

I am as right wing as it gets, but honestly, the left isn’t the only ones name calling, there is plenty of it right here on this blog. Don’t blame it on the trolls either. Both sides are guilty of name calling and making crude remarks about women on the left and right and none of it is good. Are we looking at the motes in their eyes and forgetting the log in our own? I get very upset at what is said right here on a hopefully conservative blog, some days it gets so bad I just log off. Maybe, just maybe this whole thing will make everyone rethink what they type in here. I don’t know about all of you, but I want my family to respect what I say about politics and what’s going on in the world. There are some really fine minds, genuinely funny and interesting people on this blog, but I really believe it needs a tune up of being less crude and disrespectfull. There’s plenty to say without name calling, isn’t there?

In my opinion, people who post on the blaze should use spell checker. Perhaps even context of the word checker. Either way, if you troll EVERY SINGLE post on the Blaze, and have to post something about it. At least learn how to spell properly. Lose means to forget it, or it is lost. Loose means it is jiggly, wiggly or can be taken out easily. If you emphasize words with capitalization, then you should triple check to make sure you don’t look like a fool. Oh and let’s not forget, a man who has 2 ears and 1 mouth is supposed to listen twice as much as he speaks. However if you go off that analogy, then you DO have 2 hands so you can type twice as much. Either way, try to not look like an idiot while doing it.

I’m a stickler for spelling and grammar, but even I find when I am passionate or type too fast I make errors that I don’t catch until after I have sent the message – and there is no edit capability. Granted if it happens in every sentence every time it is probably not an error and some remedial grammar and spelling might be in order. Besides, for those who are under 30, grammar and spelling probably weren’t taught in many public schools. They were considered to hinder creativity and that they would be picked up later in life. Consequently, we have many younger people, even teachers, who are poor spellers and know little about grammar rules. I know. They were in my classroom asking for my help.

hmmm…. spell checker won’t help when wrong words are used which have been spelled correctly. Than all weave bin effected for uh gov’t “education” – see? Almost unintelligible, isn’t it? Both sides seems to share this malady.

It seems as though no one is taught critical thinking these days – how to think; only what to think.

Does anyone, aside from the lemmings, truly believe an advocate of infanticide without regard to sex (i.e. male or female) who began his career destroying a politically sympathetic women’s career to gain office really cares about civility? This whole contrived flap has nothing to do with “contraception” – not at $1000 per year! The entire press conference (disguised as a congressional hearing) was intended to provide cover for an assault on religious liberty (and irreligious liberty as well).

I think Limbaugh’s initial mistake was in assuming the high cost cited was indicative of frequency of activity – “having so much sex they can’t afford it”. By Monday we all had a clearer picture of who Sandra Fluke was (though I’m still puzzled by the pronunciation of fl-uh-k from that spelling) and what she had been brought before the camera’s to do.
