Controversial ‘Jihad Ads’ Appearing on San Francisco Buses — And They Aren’t Coming Down

“In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad,” reads a controversial ad displayed in San Francisco’s Municipal Railway buses.

And as of now, despite the outcry, it’s not coming down.

“Muni officials spoke on Wednesday, addressing the ads purchased by the American Freedom Defense Initiative [which, of course, has been labelled a "hate group"] that contains a message that has been called ‘anti-Islam’ by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL),” CBS San Francisco reports.

Not surprising: People accusing the “Pro-Israel” advertisements of inciting hatred against Islam and demanding that they be removed (in the name of “tolerance,” of course).

Surprising: Muni refusing to remove the ads.

President of the Transportation Board Tom Nolan, who believes the ads are “offensive,” says removing them gives way to other problems.

“What could happen here if we take them all down [is] we could be taken to court and [there] would be a big cost associated with that and we could be forced — I guess like New York, to put them back up anyway,” Nolan told CBS San Francisco.

As a compromise, Muni has agreed to give a portion of the revenues generated by the ads to the Human Rights Commission.

“The $3,400 in donated ad revenue will be used for an educational campaign. Muni will go one step further by placing their own signage next to the message saying, ‘Muni doesn’t support this message,’” the CBS report adds.

    Either the “jihadists” are extremeists or they are mainstream Islam. If they are extremeist what’s their problem? if they in fact are representative of Islam, then I understand the outrage. Not accusing, just making a point. Something to think about.

      There may be mainstream moderate muslims, but the Quran is not moderate. Extremist are just folloswing what the laws of the Quran are. I do not shoot blindly off the hip when I say this, because I studied Islam and the Quran. If a person is going to stand against something, they should be knowledgeable about the subject.       Everyone comes to America to be free then turns around and creates the country they left in America so we have a whole lot of subcultures. It is just the way it is. Send them back to their country if they want to live that culture and that way and not assimiliate to Western thinking. Per Founding Fathers wisdom. What was wisdom yesterday is wisdom today.

    The only ones inciting hatred are the Islamists. Plus their horrible behavior makes them ones you would not exactly want to invite to a party.
    Americans do not hate them, we denouce islam, but do not hate you. You are abusers of your women. Blacks call their women horrible names and put it into their songs. Western Civilized men have become jerky little momma’s boys. Don’t you think it is about time men step up to the plate and be decent manly men?? I don’t have much use for Islam in America.     Weeellll, I certainly don’t support jihad, and while this is an “ouch” but well said thing, I will just say i hope it starts making some “mush for brains” people think about what jihad means, not just for Israel, but for this country. Sometimes provacative things start a process,hopefully.

      A sad but true statement if a country is to revolt sometimes brothers kill brothers just like the Civil War. That‘s what’s great about this country it‘s so prosperous that it’s citizens have all but forgotten the horrors of uncivilized life. If it does come down to a war you definitely will want to own a lot of firearms, assault rifles would be best, and a poop ton of ammo. Body armor would be nice but a lot of states wont let citizens own it.

    This is San Francisco the land of fruits and nuts. What intolerance are San Franciscans speaking about, that we should embrace all Muslims who’s soul goal in life is to kill you? No thanks, they are on my do not associate or like list.

    If non-violent Muslims should have no issue with the message, if they identify as “jihadist” and complain about the message, then they are not a non-violent Muslim.

      I agree. You keep reading about how the majority of muslims don’t agree with the terrorists and are peace loving. One of the many things I was taught by the military was to read the literature of your enemies. That way you gain an insight into ways to defeat them. I’ve read enough of the koran to know their beliefs and ideology . Here it is in muhammads words on peace with people’s other than terrorists(he and his kind). In their world a person is one of three things: muslim; slave; dead. There is NO MIDDLE GROUND!!! Like the old saying goes, “ Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition”!

      But consider a caliphate of at least that there are more than 57 Islamic states (out of 195 countries) Which is almost 1/3rd & greater if you disregard island nations.

      Now if Islam spread sufficiently to make it the law of the land in some to let’s say 20 or 30 more (possible. Eurabia anyone look at Demographics), what will they do?

      There was a recent story that they were checking people suspected of homosexuality for proof. They were using gynecologists or analcoIgists or something to check for homosexual activity. If that spreads, just how safe will gays be. If you are gay are there more places you can visit of less?

    So the only reason to keep the signs is that they are afraid of a lawsuit and that they will have to keep the signs anyway, and not because the signs speak out against violence? weak. And muni is also putting up their own signs saying they “don’t support this message”? what do they support, then, jihad? oh well, it is San Fran after all, what else could we expect to come out of there.

And would they allow other groups to buy adjacent ads stating “We support this message” without expressing non-support for them too?

      @Set — Rose means well, but few of us think English is her first language.

      There are twin streams of Jewish culture – the Ashkenazim, Jews fm Europe and east; the Sephardim, Jews who never left the Holy Land, Arabia (although Mohammed did his best to kill them all), North Africa (Maghreb), and the Iberian peninsula.

      The Jews to whom she is trying to refer are the Sephardic Jews.

      What she fails to tell you is that those Jews were thrown out of their own countries like Egypt at the time of the creation of the state of Israel. There were more expelled Jews fm the region than there were Arabs who left voluntarily or who were pushed out by the Jews. Just under one million were displaced on each side. The chief difference was the Jews had been pretty prosperous and had their wealth confiscated by Arab gov’ts much the same as the Nazis did Jews in Europe. Most of the Arabs (90 percent muslim) were poor urbanites who had been worker bees brought in under the British mandate to build British infrastructure.

      What is truly wrong w/muslims is they refuse to repatriate their own former citizens so that they can have a “claim” to the state of Israel and a pretext for jihad (religious war) against the Jews.

    NEVER trust the Southern Poverty Law Center……….If something is good they will automatically call it evil.
