    Thank you Mr.Conyers !

I used to live in Mr. Conyers state , he seems like a very nice man and a man of the people . It doesn’t surprise me that it was him who asked the dumb guy who has nothing real to add to leave.

Tells me the left has won again, by allowing a Comedian to speak before a standing Government committee.

This nation is sliding down a real slippery slope of sleeze and slime and We the People are allowing it to happen..
When are those who think this is ‘cute’ or ‘correct’ going to wake up and say ‘No’… I want my government to be run by responsible adults with a consideration for We the People and not their own two-bit agendas…

Okay, so he was in character, but his jokes and “Colbert Report” bits were relegated to unrelated off hand comments. It looks like his statement (5 min) dealt with the emotional side of the issue and how difficult the work itself was, since everyone else dealt with the economic, social, scientific aspects.

Also, from the sounds of it, the offical statement submitted was out of character while his spoken statment was Colbert Report style. And for the record he was plenty smart enough not to perjure himself.

And to those wondering why he was there, it’s because he took up the “Take Our Jobs” offer, one of only sixteen to do so.

A fun aside, it seems like most of the committee are fans of his, since one referenced one of Colbert’s Formidable Opponent segments.

So why did the GOP bring Elmo to a committee once? Judge the words, not the messenger. And what you find is that he articulated a very clear argument for immigration reform. The members of the committee don‘t want to face the truth and certainly don’t want a large star like Colbert shining much light on this sad fact.

I can stick up for this behaviour because he made good points in between the jokes. Just because jokes are made doesn’t mean the other comments hold no value. Also, since he had also submitted a written statement, probably longer than spoken one, he still had even more points to make on the subject.

As to using jokes, it’s what he does, and when dealing with a situation like that, you do what makes you feel comfortable. Besides after the press association dinner, everyone knew what they were getting when he agreed to appear.

Finally, I watched the whole committee including Colbert answering questions, honestly, and I have to say he was far more genuine and concerened about the topic than any of the congressional members.

      ABC,

      Just my piece of knowledge,

“And what you find is that he articulated a very clear argument for immigration reform.”

By immigration reform you mean amnesty?

“The members of the committee don‘t want to face the truth and certainly don’t want a large star like Colbert shining much light on this sad fact.”

Ok, so giving illegal aliens the “all-clear” and extending the already over-extended system into more debt will somehow make this sad fact better? I’m just curious to know.

      Regards,

      Jake

It’s an absolute mockery of our system to have a village jester appear before an assembly, a court of what is supposed to be a group of serious individuals.

And when this group of serious individuals becomes part of the jester’s show, that they willingly play a role in establishing the jester’s credibility, his relevance to serious issues, they have reduced themselves and their court to the laughable confines of the jester’s world, as in “all the world is a stage.”

But this is a stage where fools sit and slobber over themselves and their relative intellects believing that at least they are not as foolhardy and ignorant as their jester that stands before them, entertaining them with smug mockery, an exaggerated belief in his own superior intellect and importance over his audience. It is a true circle of insanity, of egotistical insanity . . . otherwise known as, narcissism.

Grew up in deep south as white boy, everything was black and white. Moved to Houston at 15,did not know what an illegal immigrate was. First summer job in 1972 was at a wholesale nursery. One day immigration van pulled in and all the workers ran!!! I had NO idea what was happening. I witnessed the invasion of Texas from the open borders by the illegals. From 45 to 50 years of age I hit hard times and had to take any job I could take after Sept.11,2001. One of those was as a day laborer, ,wheelbarrowing concrete to repair driveways and new patios. We would go by the convenience store’s to pick up illegals as needed. We made the same amount per day. If we had big jobs the boss would take them home and say we would pick them up the next day. Many of times they did not show up. One day it had been rainy and cold. We went by the usual store and only a couple of illegals were there. They came up to the truck, boss told them $60 a day, same as me and they turned the work DOWN!!!! So I had to take the $60 a day to keep my roof over my head and the boss’s comment was “They have become MORE Americanized than we have and the thing is, today they probably will NOT get anymore offers of work. The people that say we will not take the work and Steve Colbert can kiss my White American, HARDWORKING ASS!!! The “Government Stupid” can keep their handouts and can“ GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH”

Colbert is honestly probably one of the better news shows out there.
Unlike most news organizations that are one sided and highly biased (fox news = conservative, CNN = liberal, ect. ect.) Colbert makes fun of all news organizations equally.

Although it might be “classified” as comedy, his satirical humor sheds light on major issues within our United States. There is a SERIOUS problem in news organization today. Most only report what their constituents (people who watch the show) want them to report.

That is why I myself have started a new organization known as the thebsnetwork.org
We need an INDEPENDANT news organization. Not the current media we have. You may think that THEBLAZE.com is “truth”. But both the blaze and fox news are just as biased as CNN.

This has gone beyond ridiculous. Your are being called Stupid and, you just keep putting up with it. The pony show that was put on by the House Committee; with the chair women Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif the lead clown. Was down right insulting. This womens voting record speaks for its self. The Border Security Bill, she voted NO. Secure Fence Act of 2006 she voted No. Immigration Law Enforcement Act of 2006 she voted No. English as the National Language she voted No. It’s Outrages, she heads this committee.. We know she could care less about the U.S Citizens..her heart lays with the Illegals..!
We have Laws……..These people broke our Laws………If they don’t want Laws then get rid of all the Laws…..Start with the Tax Laws…!
One thing that comes to mind is the “Code of Ethics for U.S Government Service” _5. “Never discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors or privileges to anyone, whether for remuneration or not; and never accept for himself or his family, favors or benefits under circumstances which might be construed by reasonable persons as influencing the performance of his governmental duties.”….(They are showing Favoritism toward Illegals ) They are Discriminating against the United States Citizens..
It’s time to bring all of them up on charges…
