Cops Hunt Canyon for Suspect Who Shot Utah State Parks Officer

MOAB, Utah (AP) — State park officials say a parks police officer is in critical condition after being shot several times on a popular trail outside of Moab.

Utah State Parks spokeswoman Deena Loyola says the officer was wounded Friday evening by an unknown assailant while patrolling the Poison Spider Mesa Trail.

Law officers from several agencies are looking for a suspect and have set up various road blocks in counties around Moab.

Grand County Sheriff Jim Nyland tells KSL-TV that a man confronted the ranger in the parking lot shortly before 9 p.m. MST. He says the ranger shot three times, in the arm, leg and abdomen.

The officer, whose name wasn’t released, was flown by helicopter to a Moab area hospital.

    There is seriously something wrong with you people. A man was shot. That is what this story is about. Having lived out in Utah, those mountains are brutal. They may never find the shooter. God bless the officer & his family.

    One thing that I think is worthy of recognition is that 13Gen represents the best retorts the left can come up with. They are either thinking Dems got defeated because Obama wasn’t left wing enough , or they are letting 6th graders like 13th Gen represent them. The desperation of liberals is like nourishment to me. 13Gen isn’t even creative like taking the grinch song and simply changing the name from grinch to Mr. Beck.       So called “Global Warming” is the greatest hoax ever pepertrated on the world’s people. It is a scam run by universities and “Foundations” with the intent pupose of milking billions in grants using already proven false and mis leading data. The hacked e-mails prove beyond a shadow of a doubt tht the whole premise was used to unduly scare people and extort money from governments and corporations.

      You need to sell your house, car(s) and quit riding airplanes, trains, busses and any other form of wheeled transportation. Go into the woods, live in a tent and then walk everywhere you go. Just think how you could reduce YOUR carbon emissions.

I have firearms (known to you, silly, as guns) and more people have been killed by Ted Kennedy than my guns and he got away with murder. Obviously, you believe guns are evil, like most liberals do, when they are an inanimate object which does as you wish. I have never seen, nor will I ever, see a gun pull its own trigger, only the evil (rapist/burgler/drug dealer) or good person (police officer or soldier) can make that choice.

    I don’t think that letting our future generations die will solve any problems. What you’re proposing sounds a lot like communism. Every child that is born is destined for something whether it is being a criminal to a CEO of a major corporation each person plays a role in society. If something that catastrophic like mass genocide by starvation, as you point out, were to happen it could cripple this nation as a whole. America is not about inspiring fear and death into people. It’s about the freedom that every child and every adult have to become better, to excel. Cutting off all financial aid is a very quick fix that would cause swift, long term effects to this great nation. Limit financial aid don’t cut it completely.

    Screw recycling it’s an absolute waste of time. There is only one thing that will save the environment and that is to stop the over breeders from breeding so many children. We need a “No children-No Taxes“ policy and a ”More Children-More Taxes” policy.
    And for all the countries where the slum rats continue to breed even as the children they already have starve to death, No Financial Aid whatsoever unless the population growth is negative. Let those children die, why feed them so they can breed even more children to starve to death. There will be less suffering in the long run if we allow the current breeders to die.

    I feel sorry for the park ranger, anyone remember the shootout back in the 1970s or 1980s in southern Utah, I think, It took them a long time to find the bones of the shooters in that case. Wish I could remember enough details to find the story on the net. It wasw in Mens Journal once and is very interseting. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

    I’m not sure where Dan Foster gets his facts from but, their really hasn’t been really any major breakthroughs in green technology for the US to even begin thinking that transportation with be obsolete by 2015. Plug in hybrids and hybrids may be good but we certainly cannot say that they are substantial enough to reduce the so called “Carbon Emissions”. There are hundreds of millions of cars on the road in America for them to just cease to exist is what people can call wishful thinking.

    you can never be too green, every bit helps. the earth could be dying….or it could just be a natural cycle of the earth and since we don’t have enough data the global warming folks could be wrong, but my friend dan foster runs a green group in Elkhart and he says its real and we need to stop making cars and carbon producing products

    cars all together make more carbon output than all the fish in the ocean. if you took all of the carbon footprints and made them into a trail it would go around the globe 900 times that is alot of gas. they should ban cars just like drdon says. He is a smart man that knows about surgeons

      Maybe the the TSA should set up roadblocks to check for DUIs – during the day. Could you imagine being subject to a pat down on your way to work or the grocery store. We would all be safe from DUI drivers during our daily errands.

      Guns and knives don’t kill people by them selves, people kill people.. Someone has to be behind the piece to cause it to operate. As a gun owner, hunter, veteran and bible reader (Terrorist by Napolitano’s definition) I support the maximum penalty and swift justice for anyone who commits a crime using a weapon.       Two possibilities come to mind here, one) someone with a disorder in relation to reality two) the officer got too close to a stash and/or field of stuff they did not want found. (the shooter).

      Hope they find the shooter, and try him according to the law. For the officer, the best wishes and for God to give you strength and a fast recovery to full health.
