Could November’s Election Be a Tie?

As if you needed another reason to campaign for members of Congress who correspond to your political preferences, speculation is mounting that Congress could end up deciding this year’s Presidential election. Why? Because it looks like neither President Obama nor GOP nominee Mitt Romney can close the deal entirely, even in what would be close to a best-case scenario for both candidates. RealClearPolitics explains:
Early this spring, as the new electoral map began to take shape, an intriguing scenario began circulating in political circles: the very real possibility that the 2012 presidential election could result in an Electoral College tie.
The most likely combination that would produce such a result requires Mitt Romney to carry all the states John McCain won in 2008, which after the redistricting process account for 180 electoral votes. Add to Romney’s column Indiana (11), Virginia (13), North Carolina (15), Florida (29), Ohio (18), and New Hampshire (4). That would yield 270 electoral votes for Romney to 268 for President Obama, the narrowest possible win for the challenger.
But then subtract from the Republican ticket the single electoral vote Obama won in Nebraska due to the anomalous way the Cornhusker State allocates its five electoral votes, and there would be a rare electoral tie that would send the election to the House of Representatives.
Reaers should note that this scenario, while intriguing, is highly unlikely. While nationwide polls show Romney and Obama tied at about 47 percent of the vote each, state level polls show Obama comfortably in the lead by more than 100 electoral votes. Nevertheless, in the event that the two men did tie, the election would be resolved not by the incumbent House of Representatives, but by whichever makeup of the House was elected this year. This means that, depending on what happens in any individual district, the election would conceivably be in the hands of John Boehner or Nancy Pelosi.
If that doesn’t frighten our readers into action, we don’t know what will.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 10:18amThe House would decide the President, and the Senate would decide the Vice-President. How does a Romney/Obama ticket sound? If we think things are dysfunctional now, imagine THAT!

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 9:59amAmong my own friends and acquaintances I‘ve noticed that it’s no longer “cool” to be an Obama supporter if you’re black. The freethinking blacks look down on them, call them “brainwashed plantation slaves”, “personality cult zombies”, and kool-ade drinkers”. A lot of black people who fervently supported Obama had jobs three years ago and are now among the long-term unemployed. They’re feeling bitter and betrayed, like they’ve been used. Especially now that Obama has signed an executive order giving millions of illegal immigrants the right to compete for the already scarce jobs. I think a lot of those voters who treated Obama like a messiah are going to sit this one out.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 9:54amObama will probably win by a landslide because Romney will appear to be the war monger that wants to cut services to fund more war and grow the military.

More accurately, he wants to expand the military budget by increasing the deficit. What a winner

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 9:46amWhy are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans?2 The kings of the earth prepare for battle;the rulers plot together against the LORD and against his anointed one.3 “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.”
Report Post »4 But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury.6 For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, [6] on my holy mountain.” 7 The king proclaims the LORD’s decree: “The LORD said to me, `You are my son. [7] Today I have become your Father. [7] 8 Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession. 9 You will break [9] them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’” 10 Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth! 11 Serve the LORD with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Submit to God’s royal son, [12] or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities—for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!

I hope I am wrong and that he will come out swinging soon. I do understand that the more Obama Opens his mouth and spews nasty UNTRUE rhetoric , he is showing himself to be less and less Presidential, but many people dont even check his words for being accurate.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 8:47amThese polls are hilarious, always use more democrats than republicans and then say Obama is winning.
Barry is going to lose in a 40 state landslide. There’s a simmering-seething anger at what he’s done and is doing to us. Shoving legislation down our throats no one wants, blocking oil drilling, attacking coal fired electric plants sending rates through the roof, cranking out tens of thousands of pages of red tape snarling business and killing job growth. We the people are pssd and it’s going to show Nov 6th.
Ashamed to say last election 56% of Catholics voted for the Marxist baby killer. Beyond my comprehension how this could happen only thing can figure is that the NE churches voted for him in droves because I live in the Midwest and he’s despised by all the Catholics I know. That being said the church is mobilized and fighting back after being attacked by this administration. They’ve read messages from the bishops and even played a DVD regarding the assault on religious liberty perpetrated by the Dictator in Chief. When it was finished the entire church spontaneously stood and gave the message a standing ovation.
Barrack Hussein Obama and democrats are going to be stunned on Nov 6th it’s not even going to be close and republicans will get a super majority in the senate for the first time in history.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 8:45amNovember’s election will simply mean a vote for good or evil. If Romney wins ~ it will mean that people still have some spine and common sense and can see that Obama is destroying America. If Obama wins ~ it will mean that people are ignorant, lazy and gullible. It will increase the likelihood that Obama has blinded, ignorant, mindless voter support because he is the Antichrist and we are in the end times. If Obama wins it will be good because Armageddon and the prophecies of Revelations will prevail and we will witness the second coming of Jesus Christ, so if Obama wins ~ it is meant to be; because the world has become terminally corrupt with evil and we are due for a biblical cleansing.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 8:29amThe days of Republican landslides are over and they won’t be seen anytime in the near future.
Its sad, you can go back and look at the Reagan elections to see a real landslide but even if Obama launched nukes against Arizona or Texas, he would still not lose California, New York, Massachusetts, etc.
Those states are lost, perhaps forever… I think they are which is why in the end “America” only survives is we split up.

They did what they set out to do. And that’s to make the “Tea Party” irreverent. I mean really, where are all the “massive” Tea Party gatherings one would think would be happening now?? It pains me to say this, but with only a few months to the election and the polls showing a dead heat, BHO may well be re-elected.

Mid-October will reveal the leader and it may surprise quite a few people that Romney could may very well win with a substantial margin, about 8.5 which is near a landslide. I wouldn’t be too surprised that Obama will lose big time as the few will see the disenchantment.
