Could Obama Ambassador Jon Huntsman, Jr. Be the GOP’s 2012 Nominee?

Could Obama Ambassador Jon Huntsman, Jr. Be the GOPs 2012 Nominee? He was once considered a rising star in the GOP. But after taking a position in the Obama administration, his name has mostly disappeared from the GOP’s lexicon. Now, however, former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. is changing that as he begins hinting at a possible 2012 presidential run.

Huntsman, who shares a name with his philanthropist and businessman father Jon Huntsman, Sr., is currently the U.S. ambassador to China. It’s an ambassadorship many think was used as a pawn in a game of political chess: with Huntsman out of the picture, and literally out of the country, he couldn’t gain momentum for a 2012 run against President Obama.

That theory isn’t too conspiratorial. Obama campaign manger David Plouffe once said that Huntsman makes him feel a “wee bit queasy” because he’s “speaking a lot of truth about the direction of the party.”

Enter a new Newsweek profile and a “wee bit queasy” could develop into a full on sickness:

Now, it appears, the ambassador is ready to make some noise of his own. Sitting in the echo-y living room of his new Washington home, Huntsman, a tall, lean man with silver hair and impeccable posture, pauses only briefly when faced with the question of presidential aspirations. “You know, I’m really focused on what we’re doing in our current position,” he says. “But we won’t do this forever, and I think we may have one final run left in our bones.” Asked whether he is prepared to rule out a run in 2012 (since it would require him to campaign against his current boss), he declines to comment. [Emphasis added]

The winking response—about as close to a hat-in-ring announcement as you’ll get from a sitting member of the incumbent’s administration—could just be a hollow cry for attention. But sources close to Huntsman (who requested anonymity to speak freely without his permission) say that during his December trip to the U.S., he met with several former political advisers in Washington and Salt Lake City to discuss a potential campaign.

His extensive foreign policy experience, something many 2012 GOP contenders lack, could make him a viable candidate.

“Huntsman, 48, cuts an impressive figure and has a fascinating personal and political story to tell, including the sort of foreign Could Obama Ambassador Jon Huntsman, Jr. Be the GOPs 2012 Nominee?policy background most governors lack,” Politico’s Jonathan Martin wrote in 2008, before a Chinese ambassadorship would bolster that experience even more. “The scion of a prominent Mormon family, he served as U.S. ambassador to Singapore for Bush 41 when he was in his early 30s, did trade stints in the Commerce Department and was a deputy U.S. trade representative under the current Bush, overseeing trade with Africa and Asia.”

Another Politico reporter, Mike Allen, now thinks Huntsman’s run is a given. “Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman Jr., age 50, LEANS STRONGLY toward running in 2012,” he reportedly wrote in Saturday’s “Playbook.“ ”Heads will explode at 1600 and in RomneyWorld – Obama-appointed ambassador to China shows his cards in Dec. 12 interview with young Mormon reporter for Newsweek.”

Christie, Pawlenty, Barbour, Jindal., Pence, Daniels…hey, I’ve got a great idea, how about we nominate someone who we know is not from a rich family, has real conservative values and tons of experience and not a RINO….and is ONE OF US..SARAH PALIN.

I would be very hesitant to back him in a presidential run. Watching him during his second term, he started leaning to the left, reminding me a bit of McCain. Getting to watch him for two years as my governor, his leftward movement makes me very hesitant.

More vetting needs to take place to ensure a confident fiscal and social conservative he is or isn’t.

A recent post regarding Christie mentioned his endorsement of RINO Republicans in the primary and he seemed weak in righting a wrong on Brian Aitken – http://www.facebook.com/freebrianaitken in where he simply commuted his sentence rather than give a full pardon. 2nd Amendment supporters fully understand where Christie’s actions fell short.

As such, if Mr. Huntsman wants to step up to the plate and prove himself a true conservative, let the fun begin.

Hunstman can‘t step up to the plate and prove he’s a conservative because he’s not. He’s a RINO. I live in UTAH and was glad when he left. He supports amnesty and cap and trade schemes. Let‘s not mistake Glenn’s respect for Huntsman Sr. as an endorsement for Jr.

As a U.S. Trade Ambassador, Huntsman negotiated dozens of free trade agreements, trade and investment framework agreements and brokered other bi-lateral and multi-lateral trade agreements for the United States with China, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, India, Vietnam, West Africa, South Africa and other Asian and African nations. He played a critical role in launching global trade negotiations in Doha, Qatar in November of 2001, guiding the simultaneous accession of China and Taiwan into the World Trade Organization. Now ask yourself, who got the best deal out of these trade agreements? Hint, it wasn’t us..He sold us out

the first couple of lines tells us what we need to know. His association with Obama is apparent. For Obama to seek out Huntsman, then appoint him as ambassador to China…to me a very suspicious…seems like Obama was setting up the next president to follow him very early on. Obama just had to keep him out of the limelight…so Huntsman reappears as… You know someone that walks like a conservative…speaks like a Conservative…LOOKS like a conservative…(don’t fall for this people) however Huntsman seems to be leaning LEFT already!

Don’t be fooled by this. Same animal different stripes. We like those stripes this is why it is confusing. Reagan=Elite, Clinton=Elite, Bush Sr=Elite, Bush Jr=Elite, Hillary=Elite, Kerry=Elite, Gore=Elite, Obama=Elite, Huntsman=Elite. See the similarities. But he’s OUR man you say! Well then you will buy into all over once again. Oh he’s an outsider I like that. Really? He is an ambassador appointed to China to placate the Mormon vote. Since the Beck crowd is highly supported by Mormons then wouldn’t it stand to reason that they would put him up as a replacement now. Come on! You guys I know are smarter than to take sides and be deceived yet again. As far as I know, Bobby Jindal is not an Elite and neither is Palin. How about setting sights on a real candidate who is of and for the people instead of yet another Elite member of wealthy family. Great family values and morals thats just fine I have no beef on this note or that he is a Mormon, I could care less. It is about who can bring real honest to goodness change, the same change the Tea Party managed to pull off.

Not DeMint. Chris Christy is the ONLY choice for 2012. Why? Because he uses COMMON SENSE and he doesn’t have any problem telling you what YOU SHOULD DO OR NOT DO. The man is simply ‘called’ to lead us back to common sense. It‘s just too bad Glenn won’t run. He’d get my vote! My Dad used to tell me that if a person gets his feelings hurt, it‘s probably because it’s necessary. EGO, such as Obama’s, Pelosi’s, and Reid’s, does a whole lot of damage to people. They wear their EGO on their sleeves and you can hear it in their voices and see it on their faces. WE SAW A WHOLE LOT OF EGO IN THE LAST 2 YEARS IN THE SENATE. You can see their EGO in the way they dress, in all the toys they have, and in the car they drive. Sometimes that EGO needs to be taken down a notch because if your EGO is too big, then your head is above the clouds and you cannot see any reality around you. So, like our current President, who has a really HUGE EGO, you will DO MORE DAMAGE THAN GOOD. AND, THIS PRESIDENT HAS SIMPLY RUINED OUR ECONOMY. If we give him 4 more years, WE MAY NOT HAVE ANYTHING LEFT. CHRIS CHRISTY DOES NOT HAVE AN EGO. CHRIS CHRISTY SIMPLY HAS A ***GOAL*** AND THAT GOAL IS TO BRING NEW JERSEY BACK TO COMMON SENSE, ECONOMICALLY. I would love to have Chris Christy win the White House and simply REMOVE OR DESTROY EVERY SINGLE THING THE DEMOCRATS AND OBAMA HAS DONE. I think he will get rid of the U.N. in our lives. I think he will protect our borders. I think he will be fair about sending illegals back to their own country. And, I think he will DO THE HARD AND RIGHT THING TO BRING US BACK AS THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD. (Right now, we are a 3rd world country!!!) With a majority HOUSE and a CONSERVATIVE PRESIDENT, we could DESTROY THE PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT IN A HEARTBEAT. Do what they tried to do to us as they STRUTTED down Washington D.C, WITH ALL THEIR EGOS. arm in arm, right after the healthcare bill passed last year. They looked at all Americans and gave us all the ‘finger’, AS IF TO SAY, “WE WILL DO WHATEVER WE WANT TO DO WITHOUT YOU, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.” Now, they are back-pedalling and they are hoping WE WILL FORGET THIS YEAR AND NEXT YEAR. Well, IT JUST WON’T HAPPEN. I forgive them, BUT WILL NEVER EVER EVER TRUST THEM AGAIN! They tried to destroy America. They tried desperately to pit us against one another. They tried making the Tea Party look violent and crazy. Their PR did not work very well because Americans ARE NOT STUPID. And, I am so hoping that we get a really GOOD CONSERVATIVE with VALUES who will work with the Conservative House to get this country BACK to work and PROTECT OUR BORDERS, and GET RID OF THOSE STUPID SCANNERS AT THE AIRPORTS (they spend more money on those than they do on our borders – STUPID, STUPID, STUPID). CHRIS CHRISTY FOR PRESIDENT. I like Huntsman, too!!! JUST GET RID OF THIS PRESIDENT AND ANY PROGRESSIVES!!!!!

Don’t get me wrong. I am a big fan of Mormon values but in a culture that does not value values then all we will be doing is rotating out one ideaology for another and we’ll have the same old story once again. Our country is so divided that any shift one way or the other cannot seem to answer our problems or provide unity for solutions to our problems. So how does any republican hopeful get the rest of the country (I mean on the other side) go along with anything especially when that new direction will most certainly mean having to unplug the dependancy state of affairs, cut government down to size and end these endless Wars. We are up against the biggest and baddest of the NWO and it this has to be someone outside this machine. Huntsman could be that man but can he bring atleast 75% of the country to his side so we can make some real sustaining good changes to this country without offending everyone in the liberal media while he dismantles the Obama state he will have created by 2012? I somehow think we will not get to know this one way or another before 2012.

      I hope I am wrong.

NO, NO, NO!! RON PAUL for 2012!

Jon Huntsman not only is too comfortable with China, he was a strong illegal immigration supporter when he was governor and is gay friendly!

Jon fought against ending in state tuition for illegal immigrants
      http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=798008

When Vicente Fox served as President of Mexico he visited Jon in Utah this was said,
“Fox had kind words for Utah’s new “driving privilege card system”, which gives special driver’s licenses to those who are in this country illegally:
“He thanked us for compromising and continuing mobility in our state,” Huntsman said.”

I don‘t care if he is Glenn Becks mentor Jon Huntsman senior’s son or not! A father and son can be worlds apart on what they believe. As far as I am concerned just by judging his past actions the way he ran things he is pretty liberal to be a Republican. It is such a shame today that it seems like the only choice we have of politicians and presidents is evil or really evil.

      @ Spot_OF_Tea.
NO, I don’t think this IS the type of candidate the GOP and Cons ( not necessarily synonymous) needs.

” It’s an ambassadorship many think was used as a pawn in a game of political chess: with Huntsman out of the picture, and literally out of the country, he couldn’t gain momentum for a 2012 run against President Obama.”
Soo!! One cannot be too bright if One could not realize One was being used to get One-self out of the picture.
Or, it shows One to be easily bought off w/ a plum Ambassadorship to China.. IOW! The Prestige of the moment superdeded the more pressing duty (though a few years away) of trying to get the country on the right tract.
Hey!! Look a me.. An ambassador to China.
Either way, It shows lack of substance. Regardless of who is his father. The fruit does not necessarily falls close to the tree. sometimes it falls and roll a distance away.
Anyone who can be bought off by a Moslem marxist is not the man for the reason of the season.
I don’t think this feller is stooopid. He had to know like most normal Americans that Hussein was/is a Marxist. He said (told the World)he was going to redistribute the wealth.
That he (Huntsman) was more impressed w/ a title from the communist lets him out of the picture.

This weakened man is irrelevant to the mission of 2012 not because he has yet to articulate an understanding of what the mission for 2012 is but more so because he is further damaged being an ally and in accord with Obama; he is willingly Obama’s employee.

Reflect back for a moment to early 2009 when Obama wanted to appoint Republican Senator Judd Gregg as Commerce Secretary. Gregg refused the appointment stating he had “irresolvable conflicts” with Obama. In that, there’s reason to trust Gregg that he has the propensity to stay true to at least Republican principles. And regardless of the depth of those principles, he chose loyalty to his people over self-fulfillments. Unfortunately, Mr. Huntsman could not muster the courage to refuse to be of service to Obama’s agenda as Senator Gregg had. He will have to articulate through that, and convincingly.

For this reason, Huntsman is naturally positioned to stand small next to his presumed former boss while the candidate capable of beating Obama is a candidate that will stand next to Obama and there will not be enough space in the room for both of them. And then, one will naturally proceed to mentally dismantle the other until only shame remains standing small and insignificant, a shell of an imposter, so that their sharing of space is more naturally pleasing to the order of things. The candidate best suited for 2012 will understand how to package and deliver that for us.

All of us here, the Tea Party . . . current members and future members, the lady in the grocery store that greets you asking you if you would like to sample and taste before you buy, it is we that define what the mission of the Republican Party is, of what America is. It would do them well, whomever that potential candidate would be, that they first embrace this idea so that we can look them in the eye and know what we are getting . . . because we will. And even if that person is capable of stringing the words together in proper order, dress them up and make them sing and dance for us, still, this time, we look deeply to the core of principles and the sporting fighting character of the individual. But most of all, it’s about what we see when we introduce ourselves to their soul.

And as ambiguous and abstract as that may sound, keep in mind how critical this principle is as we move forward. Do not forget that Obama won a presidency with it. He kept his soul hidden except from those that chased it down and then tried to warn others of what he had in store for us. But as we all well know, it was not enough; as a people, we had to come to fully know it and to view its size and its potential; to see it and to smell its ugly breath . . . And in that we have to ask of each potential candidate, do they have a chance of meeting Obama with dominance . . . of knowing who and what he is; of how to reject it all for the very purpose of putting Obama in recognizable order and context so that all can see clearly again the pathway to American exceptionalism. Does Huntsman Jr. really have a chance at doing that? So far, by his own actions, the answer is no.

Two years away too early to make decisions, but for me, I’d vote for Herman Cain because I believe in him.

Your reply only goes to show how uninformed you are of the political landscape[e. Huntsman is a moral ethical winner. He is a diplomat a good American. I realize you are trying to be ‘funny”, but it doesn’t work.

He appears to to have john Sr’s work and family ethics. Something that we have missed in this country.
Frankly I think he’s too good to be president of such a lack luster, gimmme something free, nation.

This guys Father, John Huntsman Sr., seems genuine as a caring and compasionate human being as he has been presented on The Glen Beck Show. I believe he has appeared two times and was also one on the Award Recipeints at the 8/28 Rally. He was not at the Rally to recieve the award from Glenn so someone else accepted the award on his behalf. He{Sr.} also seems to have become a very influential and close friend to Glenn himself.

Then I too became very interested in who is this Huntsman Family. I was pleased with what I had found on the top level of my research but then I dug deeper into the Family.

John Huntsman Jr., seems to be the political link to the elites’ for the Huntsman Family Dynasty. Jon Huntsman Jr. is the only Family Member listed as an active member of the Council On Foreign Relations. I found the CFR member list on http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/cfrall2.htm#f and http://www.nndb.com/org/505/000042379/.

When ever I see a CFR Membership tied to someone, they usually are not far from the Bilderberger Group, the Trilateral Commission, the Skull and Bones, and many other so called Secret Society groups which all have one common theme in mind, New World Order/One World Controlled by the Elite. None believe in the US Constitution and it’s Individual Freedoms and Liberties that it provides US Citizens.

If John Huntsman Jr. would denounce what the CFR was originally created for {Not what their current image promotion is about} and extract his Membership from this New World Order Group, then he might be worth looking into. If not, He is just another Political Puppet run by the elite bankers.

      Here we go again,

      WAKE UP and research.

Jon jr. is a huge “global warming” activist. Do you still want CAP and TRADE, do you still want to pay for air, do you still want global wealth redistribution in the name of “green energy”, do you still want to pay for carbon emission taxes and higher energy costs?

Obama hired Jon jr. because he pushes the Obama agenda in the U.S. and in China………. global this and global that.

      > Statement of Jon Huntsman to Senate Foreign Relations Committee” on 7/23/2009

“We have entered an era in which all nations are called upon to work together to address the urgent problem of global climate change. The United States and China should be part of the solution, and collaboration on clean energy and greater energy efficiency offer a real opportunity to deepen the overall U.S.-China relationship. U.S. agencies have been encouraging their counterparts in China to expand cooperation on clean energy and other emission-reducing activities and to advance the international climate change negotiations. As Utah’s Governor, I have been deeply involved in exploring clean energy options for the Western States. During my chairmanship of the Western Governors Association, we focused specifically on the global nature of climate change, working directly with China and other major carbon emitters on this critical issue. If confirmed, I will continue my personal interest in working with China to identify and take action in areas that are mutually beneficial and which promote low-carbon economic growth in ways that are consistent with our trade and investment policies.”

Jon Huntsman as Governor of UTAH:

“The initiative, entered into by Huntsman, would establish a regional market to trade carbon emissions credits, allowing industries that emit greenhouse gases to buy and sell credits for their emissions. The goal is to cut the region’s carbon emissions to below 2005 levels by 2020, a roughly 15 percent reduction.

Cap-and-trade agreements have been lambasted by many Republicans as an energy tax in disguise. Many Utah lawmakers were furious with Huntsman for signing it without their permission.”

Warning: If you are conservative, you do NOT want Ambassador Huntsman as president! He is the former Republican (in name only) governor of the state of Utah. His father, John Huntsman Sr., is a saint, and John Huntsman Jr. is very bright but confusingly liberal. He overrode Utah’s legislature and a vote from the people to give $26,000,000 to a private soccer-stadium project. We soundly said NO, but he – in his liberal wisdom – gave away our tax money anyway. He has never met a social program he does not like and for which he does not want to increase funding. He is a firm believer in global warming (even appearing in an ad with two well-known global-warming advocates) and believes a carbon tax is the way to go. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and was chosen by Pres. Obama as ambassador to China. I am sure he does his job superbly well, and would make a very good democrat replacement for Obama but never as a conservative president. One of our best days in Utah was when his lieutenant governor who IS CONSERVATIVE took over. For that, thank you Pres. Obama.

As a Utahn, Huntsman was our Govenor for a few years….years that couldn’t go by fast enough! He is another Rhino who changes is mind more often then he changes is underwear. He also was a big fan of large social programs, one of which was teaming up with Arnold in California for global warning legislation. Please, blink your eyes and let this guy disappear as fast as he comes by! His father is a great humanitarian, this Huntsman is another McCain without the war record.

Hmmm well when he was governor of utah, illegal aliens flocked to the state to get “Driver Privilege Cards”. And a republican Obama appointee? No way. We need a Patton for our next President.

We need to get our facts straight and stop using sources that are questionable. I checked the membership from the CFR website and there is no mention of Hunstman being a member.
