Conservative pundit Ann Coulter warned activists Saturday that if the party nominates former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in 2012, President Obama will win reelection.
Asked in a Q&A session after a bombastic speech at CPAC what she thought of the 2012 field of hopefuls, Coulter initially hesitated, but went on to essentially deliver an endorsement of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“If you don’t run Chris Christie, Romney will be the nominee and we’ll lose,” said Coulter, eliciting cheers from the crowd.
“By the way,” she added, “I warned you about McCain.”

Report Post »But Romney??????
If it was Obama V Romney, for the first time in my life , I’d be tempted not to vote.
What on earth does Romney think about anything currently? I don’t see him coming out forcefully with any strength or power or strong convictions about anything….he never says anything unless 10 people have said it first……he looks like a big Ken doll to me, or a cardboard cutout.
Give me the fire and strength of Trump or Cain any day, they‘re not afraid to stick their necks out and I don’t think they’re rattled by anyone, foreign or domestic.
I think the Obama Chicago machine would chew Romney up, and Christie doesn’t seem to have the heart for it.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 2:40pmJAKARTAMAN I’m going to have to agree with you on this one. Romney isn’t even close to as bad as many people here are painting him out to be. In fact some people here seem to have very short memories. If they will remember, it was Romney that was lambasted in the media prior republican primary. Why…because they saw him as the biggest threat to beat the Dems. If you will remember they didn’t start attacking McCain until after he won the primary. Hmmm…seems to make sense.
As for the mistakes that Romney has made in the past. Mass heath care and his stance on abortion, he has explained why he changed his mind on both. If you do some research you’ll see some common sense involved. I for one can respect a man that admits his mistakes and learns from them. The current president has done neither. Romney’s pluses far out weigh his faults and as far as I can remember there has been only one perfect man to walk the earth.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 7:30pmMitt Romney has very strong convictions, he believes very strongly in the constitution and he believes very much in the founding fathers and is against gun control. He has very sound principles and inner strength. You do not get to be CEO of a prestigious firm like Bain Capital without a backbone of steel. Yes he may look like Mr. Clean but to be honest his outer appearance may just be a reflection of how clean he is inward. The greatest man of all Jesus Christ was not the most pleasing to the eye as a man on Earth and neither was Gandhi. You do not have to be a total He man to have tremendous inner strength, some of the comments on here are ridiculous and show some real shallowness and lack of any depth of character and wisdom on the writers part. I have taken the time to really get to know Mitt Romney and the more I have learned the more I like him, he is by far the most qualified of any of the other candidates who appear to be on the horizon. Unfortunately most of the others the more I learn about them like Steve Christy for example the more disappointing they are becoming and I have had a whole lot more time to scrutinize Mitt Romney.

That’s not stupid; Other judges have done way worse things. Christie just sees that Muslims are going to get more influence in our society over the years, they’re not going away.

Ayn Rand was once asked if she were a conservative, her answer was, “No, there’s nothing left to conserve, I am a Radical for Capitalism.“ What we need in the White House is a ”radical for Capitalism.” not another Rino. If you want 4 more years of Obama keep looking for someone else we need to come together and really get behind our best shot for 2012 and that is Mitt Romney. I love Sarah Palin very much but she is has lost a lot of credibility with a whole lot of people who will be voting against Obama. Christy would be another great choice for President but he says he will not be running so at best he might be open to be VP position. Posted on February 13, 2011 at 1:24pmLet me put it another way, out of all of the candidates who are running who has name recognition and it is going to take that first and foremost. We have Mitt Romney, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich thats pretty much it as to get the kind of votes it takes to win the Presidency we are talking a surprising big percentage of the American people who would recognize these peoples names but couldn’t tell you a whole lot about them. The rest of those running do not have a prayer as we are dealing with a large percentage of the voters who could not even tell you who their own congressman is. Republicans do not have the luxury of building enough name recognition in one election cycle like Democrats because the liberal media will not be there cheerleading for them the way the did Obama. Even Ronald Reagan had to run twice to build up enough name recognition to get elected and I am tired of hearing people say well Mitt Romney could not even beat John McCain. That would be like saying back when Ronald Reagan ran a second time we don’t want him because he could not even beat Gerald Ford who ended up getting beat by Jimmy Carter. Say what you want about Mitt Romney but I can guarantee he has learned from the mistakes of his last nationwide campaign and will put together a campaign that will be much much better than his last one and he because he ran before he will have a much better organization in place and has the resources to get his name to a point where he can win. It is still going to take a lot of money and those others who run will at best be able to build the name recognition needed to run in 2016.
Report Post »missionarydad

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 2:06pmSome of the things Mitt has proven his strong leadership abilities on: like taking command of the Salt Lake Winter Olympics that were headed for disaster for a one (1) dollar salary and turning them around to becoming the most successful Winter Olympics in history. Romney literally saved those 2002 Olympics from economic doom and under his tremendous leadership turned it from deep in the red into the black.
What about RomneyCare? RomneyCare, signed into law by Romney in 2006, is a state-based healthcare plan , unlike ObamaCare, RomneyCare did not raise taxes and the people overwhelmingly wanted it. If the Democratic run state would have left it the way Romney had it there would not be all the problems that have happened with it. But the bigger and more important difference is that RomneyCare was a state program and not a federal one. If states’ rights and federalism are truly important to you, you would readily recognize this distinction. And on top of all this, Romney has consistently voiced his support for the repeal of ObamaCare, this the same Romney that saved Mass. from demise caused by the Democrats? Not once but twice? The ones that fattened up said health care bill.
Romney saved dozens of companies from closing down & thereby saving thousands of jobs? As a highly successful leader in business, he made money by turning around financially struggling companies like Monsanto, Staples, Office Depot, Dominos Pizza, Burlington, Corning, among many others, saving thousands of jobs.
Later he ran a venture capital firm which provided money to numerous startup companies such as Staples Office Supplies, enabling them to expand and create thousands of more jobs. During the 14 years he headed the company, Bain Capital’s average Annual rate of return on investments was 113 percent. One time one of his employees’ daughter came up missing in New York City and was feared kidnapped. Mitt said to his partners the reason we are in business is for the welfare of our families and shut down the company and organized a search party and they headed for New York. He diligently and quickly divided up the search party and sent them out searching sector by sector with detailed instructions as to how to proceed and the daughter was found. If I recall correctly she was just being a rebellious teenager and had went off and was hanging out with some friends having a good time not realizing what panic and grief she was causing her parents.
At the age of 19 Mitt put his Stanford education on hold and went on a 2 1/2 year mission for the Mormon Church and was sent to France. He lived a life of poverty while there and had to make due on less than $100 allowance a month staying in small apartments with several other missionaries. Many of these apartments he stayed at did not have private bathrooms but one bathroom for all the residence on the floor. As a missionary he lived a very disciplined and rigorous life, waking up at 6am and after extended Scripture study and prayers left for the day, knocking on doors from 9am to 9pm everyday for the entire 2 1/2 years sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was there during the 1960s when Americans were very unpopular because of the Vietnam War with the French. Often a Frenchmen would answer the door and say “you’re from America, get out of Vietnam” and slam the door. He really grew up from a privileged lighthearted carefree youth to a very responsible serious adult during those 2 1/2 years. He was called to be an Assistant to the Mission President the highest leadership position a missionary can go. Once when he was driving a car carrying the other assistant, the mission president and president’s wife they were involved in an automobile accident where a drunk driver crossed into their lane and collided head on. Mitt was mistakenly pronounced dead, the mission presidents wife was killed and the mission president was injured. Mitt recovered quickly and had to take charge of the entire mission for six months while the mission president was back in the U.S. recovering from his injuries. He really took charge and fired up the entire mission and carried out all the duties of the mission president doing a remarkable job amist the entire country breaking out with violent student riots and being an American not the safest climate.
Soon after his mission he married his wife Ann and transferred to BYU where she was attending. He ended up graduating #1 in his class and went on to Harvard Business School where he graduated in the top 5% of his class and *** laude from Harvard Law School. He became a father of 5 boys during his college and early business years.
As the 70th Governor of MA, he worked to turn around the state’s economy from a 3 billion dollar deficit to a surplus, balancing their budget in less than 4 yrs. And never accepted a salary while in office.
What is wrong with America not wanting the best possible leader we have available? It’s the economy, stupid! Mitt Romney is one of the greatest leaders this country has, after what you have experienced with Obama you should easily recognize this.
Romney also showed great character when he did not press charges and remained calm when a drugged-out rapper tried to start a fight with him on an airplane ready to take off .. the same rapper now calls him his homeboy.

I think you are correct. There are not enough Romney supporters to beat Obama, and he would be easy pickings for the Dems. However, I think there is more to consider this election more than any other in our history. There are only two types of candidates that could beat Obama in 2012, a black candidate or a female candidate. Without the 2nd Amendment, the rest of the Constitution and the concepts of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are just words on paper. If some politician is afraid to let me have the tools to protect myself and my loved ones from a tyrannical government and other bad men, then I am too afraid to let him in charge. I guess what I was trying to say went over your head. Either that or I did a lousy job of splainin. Yes, we have huge economic problems, but we are now headed into a historically dangerous time. Our first goal should be to beat Obama. He’s the tip of the spear for the left and we need to snap it off in their faces. Romney would have been a fair pick in a time when we only had economic troubles. The troubles the next president will inherit are going to make our economy look like childs play.
People are just going to have to face reality… Romney may be a nice guy that knows how to make money, but he cannot beat Obama. And beating Obama is THE MAIN FOCUS of the next election. It has to be. Our future depends on it. There are two kinds of candidates that can beat Obama this time around… another black, or a female. Those are the choices because there is NO modern-day Ronald Reagan to vote for and the general public knows it. All white males should sit this one out for the good of the country.

Romney would be bad. He had a similar wreck of a plan as Obama for health care in Massachusetts. See here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/10/us/politics/10romney.html
While he has a point that such matters should be solved at the State level, his ideas for health care suffer from adhering to the same Marxist lie as the Progressives, which is that health care is a right – which it is not. People who work in health care do so primarly to make a living – if they weren’t paid, they wouldn’t do it. And rightfully so since it takes time and resources to do the work of health care, and we ought not think that we have a right to their services anymore than we have a right to anyone else’s services.
I hope Bobby Jindal runs. He is angry at Obama for destroying Louisiana oil jobs. He will stop the regulations that are crippling our economy.

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 12:20amAnn is an idiot. George Bush got Obama elected by crashing the stock market with the announcement of TAARP 1 month before the election. You think Bush couldn’t have waited till after the election. We still haven’t spent all the TAARP money. McCain /Palin were 10 points up after the convention and Obama had lipstick of a pig on him. Now we find out in her book even Laura Bush is a liberal. Looks like Ann may be one underneath as well. Who was it that said you should never trust a woman?

Man I don’t know about that.
Report Post »The women that are front runners in the GOP are Sarah and Bachman—-neither of which are electable in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I like them. But I don’t think they are electable. They are too polarizing for the moderates and independents to sign off on.
Mitt is more middle of the road, which I think is far more electable than someone on the left or right.
I agree with your point that getting BO out is goal #1 and I think to do that you have to have someone that is more moderate and less “despised” by the mainstream media and the national left. Even common folk on the left can’t stand Palin because of their spoon fed info, so I don’t think it bodes well for her.

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 8:43amI hope he doesn’t decided to run. I think he is great for New Jersey and a good man to get their house back in shape financially by making the tough decisions although it seems that everything he cuts as governor the senators of the State just decide to fund those same programs by getting money from the federal government.
Dr. Ron Paul/Herman Cain 2012! You have fiscal conservatives, you have diversity, you have a Dr. and you have the Godfather! How can you beat that combination.

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 11:58amThe bigger issue here is that none of the candidates seem to understand clearly the historical significance of the fiscal crisis facing this country. There are simply no success stories throughout all of recorded history of a nation monetizing its debt at this level. When you compound Quantitative Easing with an atrocious fiscal policy you have a recipe for disaster.
Christie does seem to grasp the enormity of the situation, but we should also remember this is going to be a brutal, brutal campaign. For someone to be honest, they must tell the senior citizens either we cut spending on our terms (5 or 10%) or it will be cut for you when we can no longer borrow or print any money. Will he still be able to stand tall and respond with reason, logic and the wealth of historical empirical evidence?
Another big problem on this debt is I have yet to hear a GOP candidate state the obvious. No one on earth has any idea what the tolerance for U.S. debt actually is and there is no way to predict the tolerance.
Romney sounds good when just speaking. But I don’t see how he can stand the fire when the debate ultimately gets down to the real issue; we are out of money and the world is quickly running out of potential investors to buy our bonds. The Dems still make easy points with the ignorant mass of progressive supporters and probably a good number of independents by saying we need to raise taxes on the rich. This is so easy to shoot down that it is actually scary the GOP hasn’t. You could raise taxes on everyone making over $100,000 per year to 100%, and you wouldn’t even cover the current deficit, much less next years projected whopper of 1.6 trillion plus.
We have been lulled into a false comfort that does not stand any test of history. And the GOP candidates seem all to willing to let this lull continue until it hits the fan. When the wheels fall off on monetary policy fiscal policy will crash just as hard. Think about what that means. Left or right, it will be an ugly we aren’t prepared to face.

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 1:34pmWhat we need to do, AS A COUNTRY OF CONCERNED CONSERVATIVE AMERICANS, is see to it that the right man is elected OVER those the Electorate picks. McCain was such a waste of money and time, I can‘t believe Americans didn’t see right thru it until now.
I suggest to you all that there be a NATIONAL CAMPAIGN to ‘write-in’ RON PAUL as PRESIDENT if he is not picked by the Electorate. I am not sure how this happens, but if we do not like Romney or any of the other PRE-PICKED CANDIDATES that have ALREADY been chosen for us, then LET’S WRITE IN OUR OWN. There needs to be a central person/committee to start this debate. WE DO NOT NEED THE ELECTORATE TO TELL US WHO THEY WANT US TO PICK OR NOT PICK. I was never a Ron Paul supporter until Obama got elected and I WAS SO FURIOUS, I was spitting all over the place. think about this people: IF 10 BILLION AMERICANS WROTE IN RON PAUL’S NAME, would he get elected? SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO THE RESEARCH ON THIS AND QUICKLY before the Republicans start meddling and screw things up worse for this country with Romney and the other Rhinos that are conservative in name only. I LOVE Christie – HE IS PERFECT, but a very, very, very close 2nd to me is RON PAUL and since Christie won’t run, I WANT RON PAUL.
WRITE-IN RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT. If everyone does this, WILL THAT BE ENOUGH? I would love to see what would happen. WOULDN’T YOU?

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 5:35pmRomney may seem like a third wife in Mormon land but in the real world he is DOA. As a real conservative that does not follow his religion like a bull with a nose ring I would vote Obama before I gave a fake conservative like Romney even a chance. The only way to do business in salt lake city is through the church that is the only reason the Olympics worked with him in charge had nothing to do with skill. What else does he have on the resume “health care”???

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 9:41pmAnn Coulter is of the impression that she knows what’s best for the GOP. To me, this is sorta like the libs cramming legislation we don‘t want or like down our necks because they know better than we do that it’s good for us! Chris Christie would be an excellent candidate only if he succeeds with his reform in New Jersey. Other than that, he has no real experience as a major governmental administrator. But Ms. Coulter is right about one thing; Romney, Paul, Palin, Newt, Pawlenty, Bachman and the other “darlings” of the GOP have little chance of beating Obama. Especially Romney. None of these familiar politicians has the charisma or motivation to unite the Tea Party members, GOP members and independent conservatives into a unified voting bloc. They need a new face or two. There are other qualified candidates out there. I can think of two right off the top of my head; Herman Cain and ex Lt.Col. Allen West. Rubio is another but he needs a few years seasoning before a run at Obama. Maybe in 2016 or 2020. In the meantime I pray that Ms. Coulter will learn to think before speaking.
“How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don’t think.”
