Crist Confirms Contact With White House in Effort to Get Democrat to Drop Out

During an interview on MSNBC Thursday evening, Gov. Charlie Crist, R-I, confirmed that his campaign had spoken with Bill Clinton’s camp regarding attemtps to get Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek to pull out of the Florida Senate race — a move that would’ve put Crist in a competitive two-way race with Republican Marco Rubio who currently leads the pack.
But later in the evening, during an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren, Crist dropped another bombshell, hinting that the campaign against Meek also involved the Obama White House:
Both Clinton and Obama have made trips to Florida to campaign for Meek, the race’s Democratic candidate who now commands about 15 percent of general election votes.
This wouldn’t be the first time the White House recruited former President Clinton to carry out some political “dirty work.” Earlier in the election season, the White House claimed that it had asked Clinton to intervene and try to get Democrat Joe Sestak to drop out of the Democratic primary race against Sen. Arlen Specter.
In response to the developments, Rep. Meek says he plans to remain in the race until the end. In a press conference Thursday night, Meek denied Politico‘s accounts that he’d considered dropping out of the race:
The Rubio camp also weighed in with a statement:
Charlie Crist truly will say and do anything to get elected and hold on to power. Secret deals to trade away principles for power is already the problem in Washington, it’s not the solution. This is simply politics as usual which is exactly what voters across the country are emphatically rejecting this election.
And, in a rare instance of the GOP playing race card, RNC chairman Michael Steele made the following statement:
If we have learned anything this election cycle, it’s that voters demand the right to choose candidates for themselves, not by a political establishment seeking to make those decisions from on high. President Clinton’s actions to have Kendrick Meek withdraw from the campaign sends a chilling signal to all voters, but especially African Americans. One can only imagine the response if Republican leadership tried to force out of the race – in the 11th hour – a qualified black candidate like Kendrick Meek.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 6:39amCrist is not what America needs to get back on track. Just another corrupt lying politician that seeks merely for furthur his career for personal gain. Marco Rubio is a good decent human being and does have Florida’s needs in his heart. He is exactly what Florida needs to pull themselves out of the muck their in. Go Marco Rubio, this guy is a shining star and definitely a breath of clean air compared to Obama’s pal Chris. Good luck Rubio, you rock brother.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 6:39amA big alarm in this story is that the RINO bell as factually run for Crist since there’s this kind of alliance with Dems. It’s another establishment revelation that too many Dems and Reps work together in ways that cannot be supporting the constitutional aderance demands of the people. It‘s not the right people and it’s not the right cause. This is an election trick and those are only intended to get over on the public. When we see these types of alliances revealed, we have confirmation of suspicions.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 6:01amCrist is the vary reason the tea party is growing! Just when I thought Bill Clinton had gone as low is a human can he tops his last episode. Bill is with out shame. If he had any true dignity he would go away quietly in disgrace. But he is still out there day after day spinning lies and pushing the left agenda. The only positive thing I see of Crist or clinton is they are as transparent as a glass of water and great examples of what we are not going to put up with from elected officials any more!

REBEL, yes we do, we have been waking up in this corner of the country for a long time. There is no boast of getting it right this time around. But we look forward to pulling this Nation in a better direction.
I look forward to voting for Rubio in a few days. This country is already overrun with Radical Progressives. Meek or Crist would be one more. Rubio is one less Progressive Radical, and despite all the desperate, far-left demonizing, my guess, he will do this State proud and our Nation good.
I for one love the blow by blow dueling of these loosers. Two Presidents and a Governor beats up on poor Meek, and he refuses to cry uncle. Since Crist can’t keep is mouth shout, backrooms on all sides must buzz, planning ways to stab him in the back. I cannot imagine him ever running successfully again. He pretends he is Teflon II, and yes, who wants to stick with his slick dealings. Clearly, those who vote for Crist, cannot possibly know what they vote for, except, not the pretense of today. I’ll bet Dems all over the country wonder when and if they are next under the Progressive bus Alinsky rules, turned on to each other, makes them all look silly. Ya got to question Meek for wanting to play on such a treacherous team. I would hope Meek grows a backbone and resurrects the Democratic party in Florida, void of Progressives. Fractures form today. Next week two Presidents will fight the blame game, with each other. Hillary will go rogue this winter. Gapping left holes will form by next summer. Meek, can you see opportunities swing your way, or are you just too meek? Wake up Meek, you are in Florida.
