Critics Enraged Over ‘Gangster’ Conservative Ad: ‘Sexist’ and ‘Racist’

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) isn’t too happy about a new political ad released by Turn Right USA, a political action committee that supports conservative political candidates. The video targets Janice Hahn, the Democratic candidate vying for Rep. Jane Harman’s Los Angeles-based House seat (Harman resigned back in February). The Huffington Post writes that the video may “…very well be the most outrageously sexist and racist ad in political history” and continues:
The spot…spun a fairly uncontroversial attempt to have reformed gang-members draw current ones away from that lifestyle into tales of demonic violence, taxpayer subsidized rape and drug abuse.
Turn Right USA believes that Hahn’s tenure as a Los Angeles city council member actually led to an increase in gang violence. On a web site (entitled “Hahn’s Homeboyz”) created to accompany the ad, the group writes:
Janice Hahn (D, Los Angeles City Council) increased gang violence by using taxpayer money to hire gang members! They were supposed to be “gang intervention specialists”. Instead they continued their robbing, stealing, raping and murdering, all the while laughing behind Janice’s back!
The DCCC initially condemned Craig Huey, the Republican in the race, calling on his campaign to condemn the video. Huey’s camp, though, had no involvement in the video’s creation and his campaign has, indeed, called the video “offensive” and condemned it.

I don’t know about other cities but in CA it is very common for local level D-politicians to have a nexus with gangbangers , cholos and mechas.
It is a strategic relationship. These pols divert taxpayer money to criminals through police departments, schools, and social-justice churches towards the bangers and in turn they speak lovingly on TV about the ‘compassion’ and ‘ crime-prevention’ records of these pols . BTW these same pols never hesitate to cut money to local PDs and FDs but the money never stops flowing to the bangers, whatever the financial situation of the city/county/state .

If it was not so over the top sexually offensive it might have been a “rightwing” add. But I fail to believe that extreme conservative organisations would debase themselves by using the same tactics like MoveOn.org and other Progressive groups do.

That being said, I still do not believe it was racist, nor sexist. Even though it maybe comparable to official DNC campaign ads (the ‘Taliban Dan’ ad comes to mind), this style of campaigning has no place in American politics. The language didn’t offend me as much as the wild accusations being made. If any of the accustions that the felons who were released went on to commit rape or murder are proven to be false, then I think whoever commissioned this “ad” should be sued. Also, that last few seconds where the gentleman appears to be sodomizing the woman with the AK47, was beyond the pale. Whoever, directed it, clearly meant for this ad to be an assault on Conservatives. Were there no violations of television standards or was this ad for the internet only?
It was juveinle and distasteful, not helping the cause Reps or Cons. If it was a parody or satire, it would have been hilarious, but the fact that this ad was ran with sincerety is sad.
I still believe, steadfast, in the notion that not only the Obama administraiton but the majority of the DNC are merely a collective of “thugs” and “gangsters” pandering to the poor who unfortunately believe their malarchy of being “entitled” from cradle to grave.

Outside money, placing ads that are false, unethical and anything other than about the issue. All donations to any candidates, PACs, etc. and donations that fund garbage like this should carry a requirement that the individual donors and the individuals behind the ads be identified and personally liable for false, misleading and potentially defaming statements. This is politics at its worst. And the sad thing is how many Americans have become Ok with it so long as it is directed at the opponent.
