Cuomo: Can I ‘Call Him an A-Hole?’

Cuomo: Can I Call Him an A Hole?

“If a guy says you have no cojones, how do you punch him back, call him an a–hole?”

That‘s the question New York’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo apparently asked his staff during a secret meeting yesterday. Cuomo is trying to figure out how to respond to Tea Party-backed Republican Carl Paladino, whose brash style seems to infuriate the poll-leading (54-38) Cuomo.

The New York Daily News reports that Cuomo held the the meeting after Paladino issued a taunting letter that questioned Cuomo’s manhood, ripped his father’s (former NY Gov. Mario) performance as governor, and tried to coax him into a debate.

“So Andrew, for the first time in your life be a man,” Paladino wrote. “Don‘t hide behind Daddy’s coattails even though he pulled strings to advance your career every step of your way. Come out and debate like a man.”

But this could just be the beginning. According the Daily News, Paladino promised yesterday that more attacks were coming, including “some personal things to illustrate to people that this man does not have the capability” to be governor.

That might infuriate Cuomo even more. “We have all this stuff [on Paladino] and we’re on the defensive,” Cuomo griped after reading the letter, according to a Daily News campaign source.

Thus far, Cuomo’s campaign has taken the approach of not engaging with Paladino. Cuomo continues to refuse Paladino’s requests for a debate and his campaign routinely offers “no comment” to the media regarding Paladino’s statements. But after Paladino‘s letter and last night’s meeting, Cuomo’s camp is apparently reconsidering that approach.

Still, they must not have reached a final decision. Cuomo’s campaign respond to the reports of the secret meeting the same way it usually does: “Cuomo’s campaign refused to comment on the private powwow.”

I don’t like name calling because i believe conservative/tea party candidates have the winning arguments. However…it is refreshing to see a man that is not ashamed to be a real man. America keeps moving towards the feminine feel good politics of the Democrats and the progressives. I think Paladino is trying to remind New Yorkers what it means to have a spine. It takes a lot to cut thru the smarmy feel good platitudes of New York politics; his all out attacks on Cuomo might shock New Yorkers into looking past the politics of feel good arguments and ask the hard questions.

Question: Was it the founders intent that politics become an industry and a career path, much less a family business? I’m really tired of it.

I agree! I am sick and tired of the way BOTH parties conduct politics. Too few candidates can intelligently discuss real problems and offer real solutions for our country. As soon as an opponent is identified the staffers are launched into the dirt finding campaign to try to discredit them. Let’s be honest, as Americans we’ve all fallen before the mark of honor and integrity somewhere along the line. I care about who you are NOW and what real solutions you can bring to the future!

Well as a voter, I‘m not about to vote for someone who doesn’t know enough about his job to debate someone trying to take it. No one should vote for someone who needs a prepared speech to make their points. A debate is where true knowledge and ignorance shine.

I hope you are kidding. Today’s debates are completely rehearsed. All of the questions are known and presented to the candidates. Pallin was isolated at McCain’s ranch for days being prepped for the debates. However during unscripted interviews she was utterly embarrassing and her only excuse was that it was “gotcha” journalism. It is pretty obvious that Paladino has no substance and has to resort to personal attacks and vicious name calling. It is really pathetic and in no way reflects real manhood. Christ was the perfect example of being a man and Paladino’s sad performance was far from being Christ like.

Cuomo – just debate the man for crying out loud. If you feel that your positions are correct, what are you afraid of. I am passionate about what I believe in and would never back down from a progressive thinker. Debate is what politics is supposed to be about. THAT”S WHY WE HAVE MORE THAN ONE PARTY!!!!

Cuomo said recently he’s spent the past three years as attorney general trying to restore pride and respect for state government – as well as reform its ethics. (yeah, whatever)
#1 – Real men don‘t talk about what they’re ‘trying to do’. They just git er done.
#2 – The women have been waiting for the ‘real men’ to step up to the plate to save our America and are excited to see that it is finally happening.
#3 – Behind your backs the women are calling you real men ‘renaissance men’. But they won’t tell you that. If you’re a real man, you wouldn’t like being called such a sissy sounding thing, anyway. But you are truly the men who will orchestrate the nation‘s rebirth and the chicks are diggin’ it!!

You appeal to the most possible voters, in New York, by either being a man’s man or by offering them a bunch of free stuff. Cuomo has the “offering them the most stuff” franchise…..

In a related story, Miss Huffington states that conservatives have lizard brains. This statement is very interesting. I happen to live in the desert where I often come across lizards in the wild. Their first instinct, when approached by a human, is to run and hide like a scardy cat, much like mR. Cuomo is doing when it comes to having a debate with Mr. Paladino. Therefore, is it safe to assume the lovely Miss Huffington is mistaken and actually it’s the progressives who have more “lizard like” instincts? This leads me to believe, since instincts are based on brain activity, that it is actually the left in this country who are equipped with lizard brains? just sayin’

C’mon, Paladino’s got Cuomo on the ropes, do we really have to stoop to name calling? State the facts and the truth and you’ll be victorious, you don’t need to lower yourself. I‘d have more respect for Paladino if he’d refrain from wallowing in the mud, Like John McCain said, You don’t wallow in the mud with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig loves it!
