The civil war indeed began over keeping the union of the United States intact; the matter over slavery became the central theme to reinvigorate the northern cause towards the middle of the war, as they had started to question the war – note though, the freeing of the slaves also finally righted a dark blot on the nations history that had been around for a very long time; this country from the beginning, and yes I understand the reasoning of the 3/5 clause, should have been allowing ALL people to have the same rights, liberties and responsibilities across the board.
Maybe if that had been so, our nations history would have been vastly different.

Reparations is another form of redistribution of wealth. But redistribution of wealth in all cases is not a 4 letter word, especially in the case of rich corporations that benefitted from slavery. Apologies are not sufficient in my opinion.
The descendants of slaves are owed their modern day equivalent of 40 acres and a mule.
I’m not going to argue with you about reparations. I feel how I feel about it.

Not all blacks are the descendants of American slaves, but the amount of blacks as a percentage of population is so low, that you could safely include all African Americans and catch few who hasn’t felt the effects of disenfranchisment from generational wealth. In regards to abolitionists who died fighting for freedom, of course they ought to have some portion (in my opinion). But in regards to who’s wealth to target, I would be loathe to target individuals, but would prefer to focus on the corporations that have benefited from that. What you need is a makeover. Throw a coat over your shoulders, wear a large wide-brimmed hat with a feather in it, and smoke your joint in a long-stemmed cigarette holder and strut your stuff. A pair of platform shoes would help greatly. That way you could come up almost to your girlfriend’s shoulder.
