D.C. Protesters Arrested After Storming Senate Office Building

Several protesters were arrested inside the Hart Senate office building Tuesday after they executed a planned invasion. The protesters were chanting anti-War slogans once they entered.

MyFoxDC.com has the video:

The protesters are reportedly part of the anti-war group “October 2011 Stop the Machine,” and has been holding demonstrations in the city and camping out.

The Daily Caller reported Tuesday morning on the group’s plans to disrupt work in the office building:

Anti-war protesters plan to storm the inside and outside of the Hart Senate Office Building at 11:30 a.m. today, with the intent of causing enough havoc to shut business down.

David Swanson, one of the original organizers of the October 2011/Stop the Machine protests — which is distinct from the Occupy D.C. protests in McPherson Square — explained the plan to an assembled crowd of less than 100, mainly elderly and middle-aged protesters in Freedom Square Tuesday morning.

The plan is to send protesters into the Hart building in small insurgent groups, which will begin causing chaos at 11:30 a.m.

“If you go inside, there are people who are wanting to go into the elevators and fill them and not get out and push all the buttons. If you like that, do it,” he said.

The activists also plan to block access to bathrooms.

“There are people who would like to sit down and block the hallways that connect that building to the adjacent building: Do that. There is a big atrium in which banners can be dropped from various levels and people can line up. People can gather at the floor level or around at various levels up above, and we are going to have chants and songs. And by all means, think of chants and songs.”

[...]

“We are trying to time everything to 11:30. We don’t want to have a march. This is extremely difficult to communicate. We want to avoid having a march,” he said.

A Politico reporter confirms six people were arrested.

And while the protesters are being linked to the anti-war group, liberal outlet Talking Points Memo says the participants are actually part of the Occupy D.C. movement and were chanting “Power to the people!” That wouldn’t be odd, as the the anti-war marchers and the Occupy protesters have been working together in other cities.

UPDATE:

Video from NBCWashington.com seems to support the idea that the protesters were a mixed bag. Their cameras caught protesters unfurling a banner saying “TAX THE RICH:”

And how much are these demonstrators costing the average taxpayer because the police have to work longer, the police are being kept from their real duties, the idiot demonstrators are reaking havoc and destroying public and private properties. If they want to emmulate the Tea Party maybe they ought to be trained first.

One of the biggest differences between their lunacy and us is we are stable. If we resort to violence we will be no better than them. Christ said it very clearly that peace comes from active demonstration of proper behavior, not from chaos and disorder. Chaos and disorder are properly described as works of the devil and the flesh. Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:12 stated, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.”

A letter to all of you protesters– “In your non-ideological ideology, the four-letter epithet substitutes perfectly for any word in any sentence, conveying no meaning, no idea, and no value. You are very nearly the perfect zeroes behind the big “O” at the White House. The American people are growing weary with your “protests.” In short order, you’re going to get the reaction your leaders want(but you do not) and then your tyrannical friends are going to show you what love isn’t.

Most of you are too young to remember naked communism. Most of your professors refused to teach you anything negative about it. Most of your teachers wouldn’t tell you the unvarnished truth. Well, that’s a damnable shame, and what’s worse is that the lack of a historical context into which you might place your current situations, perhaps in time to save your hides.”.. cont…

There’s a difference between a peaceful demonstration or march and interfering with the rights of others and “occupying” buildings. Gosh, they could also take their complaints through the court system. Heck – they could picket our current president and his fellow Dems.

This isn’t communist world, muslim world, or socialist world. Arrest them, lock them up. Deport them if it turns out they aren’t here legally.

Someone tell them that the 60s are over. They aren’t flower children. This is all rigged and manipulated by the unions and the people who want to tear down a great country. Naive, stupid – it really doesn’t matter. This isn’t the way to go about things. The money being used to police these events and to clean up is money spent out of the taxpayers pockets and out of the local govt pockets. If it’s spent on this crud – it can’t be used to help people who really need it.

Frankly, except for the union folks (etc.) this just looks like young people with NOTHING to do so they all flock to the “in” place of the moment.

The objective of these destructive and violent demonstrations is to create the chaos that justifies the declaration of martial law and suspension the constitution, thus creating a Dictatorship. This is the final phase of the Obama agenda and the Wannabe Tyrant expects to be a Dictator at the conclusion.

President Obama’s agenda is creating an economic crisis. If that agenda continues the economic crisis will reach its peak before the 2012 election. This latest stimulus plan guarantees that economic crisis. Politicians are not reelected during an economic crisis. The wannabe tyrants cannot afford free elections in 2012.

Only by creating the chaos that justifies martial law and suspension of the Constitution can the wannabe tyrants retain their power.

The American Revolution has not been in such danger since the War of 1812. Will we allow the tyranny of King George III to be reinstated under new management?

Indeed, the fact is that Mr Obama is reaching levels of desperation; and as he grows more desperate, with the jaws of failed economy, politics, and ‘fast and furious’ coming further and further, then he will do one of two things:

      A. Resign from the Presidency, and no I do not figure this highly of happening.
      B. Lash out full force, and declare martial law and go for broke.

There are no Constitutional powers granted to the President, nor Congress, to declare “martial law”. The most they can do is suspend the write of habeous corpus, which does not in fact give them the power to start declaring things like curfews, gun confiscation, ordering civilians around, etc such as traditional martial law does.

Dirty little secret they probably hope you don’t realize.

There is a real potential for violence, but I don’t think that will occur anytime before October 15th when their supposed big rallies are supposed to occure, with union participation.
