Jon Stewart Suggests Right-Wing Hypocrisy in Hoffa Coverage

Stewart Accuses Right of Hypocrisy

Jon Stewart has been on par this year at the Daily Show. While he still gets his usual laughs and high ratings, some say he has moved away from what many have seen as a leftwing lean in years past.

In fact, he is now supporting certain conservatives to a degree and he isn’t always going easy on the Obama administration. Last night, Stewart joined political pundits and bloggers in commenting on the controversial remarks made by James P. Hoffa on Labor Day. Watch below:

Stewart’s commentary falls along the common “tea party does it too” line that has been regurgitated in one way or another throughout the media since the words drooled out of Hoffa’s mouth. However, the comedian adds a degree of nuance when he argues that without “hyperbolic excitements” you’re left with a bland, Wonder Bread version of campaigning. Stewart comments that “it’s clear that using incendiary rhetoric, is the key to motivating your base.”

Then out came the puppets.

It’s worth noting, though, that some will see the “tea-party does it too” line of thinking as a cop-out, because it absolves inappropriate behavior as a mere biproduct of a suddenly out of control and “anything goes” type of political discourse.

A growing group of commentators have begun to challenge what seems to have become conventional wisdom of late — that the heat of political rhetoric has been cracked up since the entrance of the Tea Party.

A Morning Joe commentator offhandedly calls the president a “d*ck” or Sarah Palin’s PAC puts out a crosshairs map and the media outcry is tremendous, but seven years ago when Michael Moore made Fahrenheit 9/11 he won a Palm d’Or and critical praise.

Some would see these as examples of hypocrisy.

      Jon Stewart = Hypocrite

We cant call terrorists … terrorists
      We can’t call illegals …. illegal ….
but the President of the United States can call the American People the enemy many who voted for him the FIRST TIME and the VP of the USA can call the American people “terrorists” and his latest “barbarians”?
What about Jesse Jackson offering to neuter the President on a live mic… ? crickets…? I didn’t hear much of an uproar from the Democrat hypocrites when he wanted to cut off a piece of the Presidents anatomy … why was that Jon?
Push a Democrat hard enough and racism will always spill out .. right Jon?
Jon Stewart can kiss my Exceptional American asz … I‘m sick of his stupidity don’t watch him … never have the only time I hear his stupidity is when some one gives him some press.

Hoffa can say “Take the sons of bitches out” and we hear…. “crickets”.. from the President yet and wants us to tip toe around the word “terrorists” … something is very, very wrong here.

Where are you on this on Jon? How many times have we heard the left talk about their veracity in pursuing republican infidelity because of the hypocrisy of being pro-family values and then committing adultery. In fact, Stewart has repeatedly touted that the left loves to go after hypocritical republicans. Now, in the face of a huge leftist hypocrisy (the vitriol over the past couple of months), he is silent. Mum. Not a word. Thanks Jon, for once again proving that what you espouse to be and what you are conflict and diverge. Way to be an upstanding purveyor of truthy justice. Now who’s the hypocrite?

Oh, I think we have enough tape of Liberals breaking the civility code to justify anything Tea Party patriots may say or any signs they may hold up. Sorry… I am over sixty and this is the first time in my life my president has called me “ the enemy” and marginalized me for my participation in the Tea Party. Just because he has others carrying his water–doesn‘t mean he isn’t pleased for the comments. And .. sorry, but the last grassroots movement was the anti-Vietnam War movement which was comprised by mostly liberals. They weren’t nearly as orderly or peaceful; in fact, thanks to the Weather Underground, they were violent domestic terrorists. So, anything said against the Tea Party is out of line… because it’s done solely for the reason of getting Obama re-elected. The idea that somehow if you disagree with his Marxist agenda–you are either a racist, terrorist, hostage-taker, or anti-American is unconscionable and blatant lies!

Yes, we are called out for the 2 or 3 poster that had something on them, and the 2 or 3 comments or posts by someone. Does that even compare to the hundreds of posters by unions, or the constant vulgar, crude explitives used by Democratic Senators and union thugs? I hardly think so. Compare clips of the Tea Party rallies and the union rallies. There is a world of difference. It is like looking at an American 4th of July parade (Tea Party) and a gathering of dark, nazis (union protests).

You are referring to Allen West when he was running for Congress and stated we needed to fix bayonets to take our country back. Of course the idiot Stewart took the statement out of context.

Here is something else Allen West said. “If it’s about the lives of my men and their safety, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can.” You know when he said that? When he had to testify before liberals in congress because of his heroic actions in Iraq. Here I found the story in case you heard the liberal side which is a lie.

“Back in 2003, few Americans had heard of Lt. Col. Allen West, then commanding a battalion of roughly 600 in Iraq. Then attacks on his platoon suddenly spiked, and his intelligence operations got wind of an Iraqi police having leaked their maneuvers, in advance, to Islamic terrorists. West got nowhere by interrogating the suspected collaborator for several hours. Ever-mindful of his men’s safety – and a rumored plot to assassinate him and attack the entire battalion – West drew his service revolver and fired near the man’s head. The policeman started talking, and West thus averted the plot. He also faced a potential court martial, however, and was called to testify before Congress. “I’d go through hell with a gasoline can” to save his men’s lives, a nonplussed West told Congress.”

The Tea Party doesn‘t do anything like Jimmy’s actions. And we all know it. Liberals have a way of controlling the argument by steering the attention towards the completely unrelated and usually untrue. The biggest point here that I haven’t heard anyone raise is that the Tea Party is not the President. The President is supposed to, once again, be leading and he’s not. I’m sick of all this usual method of argument. The Tea Party is not for the oil companies and the uber wealthy. They are for the Constitution and limited government. It’s BP (whose largest political donation in 2008 was to Obama) who is in bed with this administration. As well as Wall Street (who benefitted from Frank/Dodd by getting rid of all that annoying competition). And Big Pharma (who will make out huge from Obamacare). And don’t forget Hollywood and most of the professional athletes in this country. What other rich are left? There are 51% less people that make $10 mil in 3 years and 39% less that make over $1 mil. And yet we are distracted by the “Tea Party is for the rich and oil” argument. Or “the Tea Party does it, too” argument. Everything is backwards. The “peaceful hippies” are the dangerous ones that have an unquenchable thirst for power and control. And they’ll do anything to get it. Jon Stewart if following typical liberal protocol that if you say it enough it will become true. That perception becomes reality.

The problem is that leftists don’t argue at all; what they call “argument” is making bald assertions (”The TEA Party is racist!”) and emotional appeals (”You just hate [insert group du jour here]!”), and using un- or illdefined terms (“democracy”; “equality”; etc.) and every fallacy in the books—which, thanks to what amounts to a de facto ban on logic in the classroom, most people are incapable of recognizing as such.

Thus, Stewart is merely being a typical leftist. “But you do it, too!” is a usual, simple, and utterly illogical response to any criticism. What, exactly, does it or is it intended to prove? If something is wrong, it is wrong (A is A), no matter who does it; if you do something wrong, how does claiming—even truthfully—that someone else also has done it magically absolve you of having done it?
