Dairy Queen Clerk Shoots Dead Samurai Sword-Wielding Robber

A masked man who attempted to rob a Las Vegas Dairy Queen with a 3-foot-long samurai sword was shot in the chest and killed by a restaurant clerk, KLAS reports.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 12:19 p.m. on Sunday. The clerk fired a total of two rounds from a handgun at the would-be robber, according to police.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released yet, was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead, KLAS reports.

Metro Police Lt. Les Lane tells the Las Vegas-Journal the sword was at least three-feet long.

Authorities say the shooting appears to have been in self-defense but that detectives were investigating whether the gun used was properly registered. No charges have been filed against the clerk at this time.

They say only two employees and no customers were present at the time of the shooting.

Police have also arrested a female in connection to a sword-wielding, masked man who tried to rob the Dairy Queen.

The investigation indicated the suspect had been dropped off in front of the store moments before the crime by a female who was later identified as Carol Matteo

Matteo, who is 47-years-old and resides in Las Vegas, was arrested in connection with this event and has been charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary.

See, a law abiding citizen used a mere two rounds to stop a blade wielding opponent. The Michigan gang (aka Police) required 46 rounds to kill a guy who was barely a threat. Maybe the michigan police should hire this clerk to train their officers how to use their firearms.

Dairy Queen’s corporate response will be interesting to see. They will either fire the employee or yank their franchise from the franchisee, depending upon the shooter’s employment status. Corporate doesn‘t like having to explain why their ’agents’ served up to rounds of lead with the dipped cone when the proper corporate move is to lay down, roll onto your back, and submit.

Maybe “dairy queen clerk shoots samurai wielding robber dead”. Switching one word a few words back makes the sentence make a 100x more sense. Aren’t you guys professional journalist and writers????

      Hi RJJ,

I used to make Makiwaras ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makiwara ) back in the 80′s and install them in Dojos ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dojo ) around the Washington, DC area. I had a custom design that I could install inside the Dojo. My friend that knew all the local Sensei’s ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensei ) and got me the jobs. Every Sensei had a foam handgun to train students on how to disarm someone who had a gun pointed in their back and my friend would ask the Sensei to try it on me (I had the gun). Every Sensei failed.

I have fun telling people to never bring a gun to a Monk fight. The truth is; the faster person who remains calm will always win.

Ever notice how whenever there is a justified shooting the first thing you read is “and no charges have been filed against the shooter”-Like they are trying to say the decision not to charge was a close one and that the shooter was darn lucky that he got away with it? I have. But will you ever hear that phrase used when discussing say the firing-squad-like killing of a man in Michigan by the cops?46 rounds like it was a video game? Hell no, they never think that a rep of the state could be involved in an illegal shooting. Just us peasants.

I have a hard time deciphering a lot of the Blaze articles. There seems to be a lot of grammatical, spelling, sentence structure, etc. This heading is confusing to say the least. Maybe a better heading would have been:

Dairy Queen Clerk Shoots and Kills Samurai-Wielding Robber

      Or

Samurai-Wielding Robber Shot and Killed by Dairy Queen Clerk

I am certainly not the grammar police, but the sheer volume of mistakes in The Blaze articles makes you wonder how the writers made it through school and into journalism.

If you think this one is bad, read the Phyllis Diller article. It makes no sense at all.

Any time I criticize someone else, I usually make more mistakes than they do. However, I don’t get paid to write. I wish they would have better editing. I notice more and more writing errors nowadays. I chalk it up to the school system and also texting with incomplete words and sentences.

We need more sword control laws in this country! Forget the 2nd Amendment. This time we will do it right. We need to have anything including a pointy stick to be considered an assault weapon. It all needs to be registered, regulated, and transfer taxed because you can put an eye out with even a pointy stick. We need to do this to protect the children. They need to be brainwashed into believing pointy sticks are dangerous things. Remember, people don’t kill people. Pointy sticks kill people. Ok, that doesn’t happen very often but it could. And that is what needs to be regulated; anything that is possible. We need to control every possibility.

“I am Barack Obama and that is why I am running for President”.

It’s simple. We civilians pay for our own bullets, while the police get them for free (our tax dollars). While it would have probably been very therapeutic to shoot a robber 46 times, depending on what kind of gun you’ve got, how many clips, etc. Two does the job just as well. Plus, no matter what the video showed from the security cameras, the police might have taken some issue if you continued shooting a dead guy another 44 times after it’s completely apparent that your first two bullets took care of your problem.

Now maybe if you were in a state like Nevada where a speeding ticket is more of an environmental ticket for wasting gas…. the headline would read.

“Clerk shoots sword wielding robber 46 times in self defense, The clerk will not be charged for any crime, however did receive a ticket for wasting a good 44 bullets”.

Actually two shots to center mass against someone with a contact weapon can prove lethal to the shooter. Someone shot center mass in a manner that doesn’t impact the central nervous system (SPINE) will leave the attacker mobile and dangerous for 2 minutes or more depending on whether they have any form of stimulant in their system. IF an attacker armed with a contact weapon gets within 15 ft, they are too close and even a fatal chest shot may not keep them from killing you. At that point only two options exist, shoot them in the head, or shoot them in the pelvis. A shot to the pelvis will break the pelvis, and knock the person down with the impact of a Louisville Slugger to the waist. While the area is full of LARGE arteries, LARGE nerves, not to mention intestines, the bladder and let us not forget genitalia, you can always argue to a jury that you were only trying to incapacitate the attacker to protect yourself. Now a shot to the lower spine, bowel, bladder or either femoral artery can be fatal, but most jurors won’t know that. BTW this advice is straight from Massad Ayoob, one of the top experts on the use of firearms for self defense in the USA.

      LT,
What your saying is correct if you are talking about a 9mm. A 45 ACP or 40 w/JHP will do just fine in stopping this person at close range. The Green Berets weapon of choice is the M1911. Its muzzle velocity is almost half of the 9mm which is why some people as you stated are still in the fight if shot with a 9mm. The .45 will knock you down and cause more tissue damage. Motto of the M1911, “Shooting twice is just silly”.
Ask the experts: Hitler, Castro, Qaddafi, Stalin, Idi Amin, Mao Tse-tung, Pol Pot, and Kim Jong-il “Gun Control Works !!”

A dealth in commission of a felony would have to be charged to the dead man’s helper, if this is the case. It is felony murder, even though her partner in crime was the one killed.

All the more reason to be a little more selective about who you choose to associate yourself with.

Well this kind of made my day. I don’t really care if the gun was properly registered or not, since he was obviously using his 2nd amendment rights how they were intended.

I feel the same way about it, nothing about registering a firearm in the second amendment it‘s just that people believe all the restrictions on firearms are legal which they clearly aren’t.

A maddening issue in Clark County, NV is that you have to register every handgun — that registration is evidenced by receipt of a “blue card” that must stay with the gun at all times. I believe the blue card requirement is a type of infringement on the 2nd Amendment.

LVQT I believe every so called ‘gun law’ passed since the second amendment is unconstitutional because there’s nothing in that amendment that says we need a permit or need to register a firearm with the government or anyone else.

@ProgSlayer, You got it right. Any restrictions based on technology should go through the amendment process. It’s that simple.
