Dallas District Misspells Name of School Named After Obama

Typos happen. You’ve probably seen one or two on The Blaze. But, when you name a school after the president of the United States, it’s probably a good idea to use spell check.
The Dallas Independent School District is getting set to launch a new all-boys school. The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy will open next fall. The district is capable of spelling it correctly:
But Gateway Pundit notes that on another section of the district website, there is a problem. The section involves a list of district magnet schools:
When you page down to the “Leadership” section, this is what you find:
Notice anything?
Again, typos happen. But, we can still enjoy the mistake! Not that it matters too much, but all the other references to the school that I could find refer to the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy. The misspelled section drops the “academy” and calls it a “school.”
And the person who tipped Gateway adds the obvious point:
What’s even funnier is that there is zero chance that the misspelling will be corrected before tomorrow, since there is zero chance that school district administrators check their work email over the weekend. This is going to have almost 24 hours to make the rounds in the blogosphere!
The new school has been the center of some debate. The rule in the district is that you can’t name a school after someone under the age of 70:
President Obama didn’t meet the 70-year-old age requirement to have a DISD facility named in his honor, but the rule was waived.
Several trustees voiced concerns with the naming, including that Obama didn’t meet the age requirement and the submission was late. Trustee Eric Cowan also noted that Obama’s contributions are not yet apparent.
“I think the story is unwritten,” Cowan said. “I’m proud of our president, but the story is not finished.”
The program at the new school does sound ambitious:
The curriculum at Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy at B.F. Darrell will include pre-AP and AP classes, foreign languages, robotics, accelerated math and science, journalism, writing, and public speaking. The young men will be required to complete a technology-based project and a community service project each year.
At least the students will look spiffy: “Those accepted into the school will be required to wear a uniform of navy blazer, gray slacks, blue oxford shirt, and tie.”

That history would show on November 2, 2010 our 2nd Independence Day would occur, where, again over 200 years later, We The People would stand up and begin to take back what is ours and take away power from those who would do us harm.

What type of “leadership” will this school be teaching male youth; certainly it cannot be the non-existent “leadership” of our failed, communist “president”. Almost half of the notes have spelling errors or factual errors. By the way, it is not just this school because the last school they attended had the same problem.

There is a reason why we have an age requirement. We wait and see what the contributions are of the person after whom we are name a school. This is the typical liberal justification…make an exception for your guy and lambaste the right over the George Bush Library. And that’s just a library…like the Clinton library. This is a school. Rules are rules, and they break them when it benefits them.
