WATCH: ‘Dancing’ Puts Palin ‘Boo-Gate’ to Rest With Behind-the-Scenes Footage

LOS ANGELES (AP) — “Dancing With the Stars” wants to put boo-gate to rest.
Host Tom Bergeron says the hit ABC show will air footage during Tuesday‘s episode that shows that loud boos from the audience were directed at the show’s three judges, not audience member Sarah Palin.
Palin had a front-row seat in the ballroom to watch her daughter perform on Monday’s episode. Just before Bergeron sat down to do a brief on-air interview with the former vice-presidential candidate, emphatic boos were heard off camera. Several media outlets and numerous “Dancing” fans online reported that the disapproval was directed at Palin.
But Bergeron said it was all about the judges, who had given three eight scores to first-place couple Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough.
The scores — each out of a maximum of 10 — “were perceived as relatively low for a dance that received a standing ovation,” executive producer Conrad Green said in a statement Tuesday.
“The judges (were) basically having an argument with the audience about the eights,” Bergeron said. “So the booing has started before I’m even going over to see Sarah, and it just gets louder and louder as they egg the audience on more.”
Audience members are encouraged during commercial breaks to voice their feelings about the judges’ scores.
Producers plan to show about 45 seconds of uncut footage from another camera angle during Tuesday’s episode to clarify for whom the boos were intended.
“Lucky we had the grassy knoll camera on, because this really will just put it to rest,” Bergeron quipped.
He called the reports that Palin was booed “just paranoid speculation.”
The host said this is the first time in the show’s 11 seasons that shots from a different angle are being shown to clarify a kerfuffle from the night before.
“I think it’s out of respect really for Sarah for us to do this,” he said. “Also just to clarify, just out of respect for our audience, too. These people don’t get all dressed up to be hooligans.”

A little elderly lady, she had to be about 95 years old, said to me, I want glasses just like Sarah Palin’s. She asked would they look good on me? I told her they would look beautiful. I was so tickled by that, it made my day.
Then, I stopped as an older lady stopped me to ask questions about make up and she was a true conservative and attended the local Conservative Rally’s. We had a great conversation right there in the middle of Costco with people listening. Costco is a unionized business. I enjoyed that very much also. Sarah Palin is a class act and I for one, would be proud to have her as Madam President and I bet she would not have sent back the bust of Winston Churchill. I love Winston Churchill and I personally disdain the person who disdained the bust and sent it back. How arrogant. The bust belonged to the American people. What exactly is Dundee cake? It was Winny’s favorite. I am for investigations into the Progressive Party in our White House, arrests and impeachments.

This person has done more to advance the conservative movement in recent times since Ronald Reagan – a former Democrat who had to switch political parties because he discovered the Progressives had subverted the Democrat party. I believe John Kennedy himself would today have to switch parties to adhere to his core beliefs.

Posted on September 28, 2010 at 8:57pmI watched DWTS on DVR. I was able to replay any portion of the broadcast. Viewing it the first time, it never occurred to me that the booing was anything other than disagreement with the judges scores for Jennifer Grey. Replaying it reinforced my opinion. Since I doubt that I am not alone in feeling that Jennifer and her partner are the class of the field, three scores of 8 was very disappointing to many including myself. The timing of the boos supports that, at least for those like me that loved Jennifer’s performance.. For those that think it was directed a Sarah Palin, ask yourselves a couple of questions. Why would a random non-political audience at a non-political event randomly distinguish themselves in this way? Secondly, if you have the nonsensical chutzpa to do that, why wouldn’t those same people boo Bristol Palin at every opportunity, including last week? She is after all a kind of representative of someone you so universally and intensely despise. Since that has never occurred, then the alleged Sarah Palin booing makes no sense. This Sarah Palin thing never even crossed my mind until I saw The Blaze article.

Don’t you think she was talking about the fact that the crowd was just booing the Judges over the 8 scores. That just proves her point that they just like make stuff up about her. I am glad the host made it clear what really happened just as I thought. Some were saying she just walked in and they were booing but obvoiusly were not watching very closely because I noticed early that she and Piper made it to the show and I was happy for Bristol they got here there without a big fuss.

“Having been an audience member on DWTS when Sarah Palin was there, people have been asking me if the audience was actually booing at Sarah. The answer is absolutely yes. It pretty much stopped though when the production assistants were encouraging the audience to cheer. But there’s no doubt we were booing at her once it became clear that she was about to be interviewed by Tom Bergeron. While you can hear it before they pan the camera to Sarah Palin, they didn’t capture her on television during the booing. Suffice to say, she was looking back at everyone in the audience rather incredulously (just up to the point where the camera focus goes to her and you see her shaking her head in disgust).
First of all, keep in mind, this is a Hollywood television production. I’ve never been to such an event before. It‘s not quite like what’s seen on TV at all. Actually, much of the time you can’t even hear what the hosts are even saying, since the mic is often tapped purely into the television feed and not the room speakers. It’s most certainly a made-for-television show. The audience is actually a lot smaller than it seems on TV too, and a good 80% of them were booing, loud and clear.
I don’t usually keep a blog, but I want to get the truth out there. There are some articles out there where a producer from ABC is reporting to have said that the booing was because the audience was disappointed about Jennifer Grey’s score. Total TV production BS. Going to this kind of event was quite an experience, but in a way, it’s actually increased my cynicism about Hollywood.

For a while I subscribed to a clipping service, that sent me daily digests of all news relative to my organization, they would come from dozens of different sources daily. If I was asked the question, I’d give pretty much her answer. I wouldn’t even begin to start listing them.
