Obama Adviser David Axelrod Cancels Maher Appearance

In the wake of the Sandra Fluke controversy, conservatives have targeted comedian Bill Maher, using him as an example of a double standard when it comes to outrage over less-than-flattering comments directed at women. Part of the double standard argument also pointed to David Axelrod, one of the president’s closest advisers: How could the president call out Rush Limbaugh for his words but Axelrod felt it okay to appear on Maher’s show in the coming weeks (as has been reported)?
Well, it looks like conservatives (and some liberals) can claim a small victory: according to Politico, Axelrod has cancelled his Maher appearance.
From Politico:
David Axelrod will not be appearing as a guest on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” despite reports last week that he was scheduled to do the show in the next few weeks.
“He’s not scheduled to go on at this time,” said Ben LaBolt, the press secretary for President Obama’s reelection campaign.
Last week, The Daily cited an HBO spokeswoman who said Axelrod was scheduled to go on the show in the next few weeks.
Not anymore.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 12:03pmIt is so heartening to watch the progressives go down in flames. This whole ‘contraception’ diversion was supposed to help Barry, keep any discussion away from Barry’s policies (failures), not highlight his disgraceful backers.
We had George Stephanopoulos start the ball rolling, with his inane, out of context question.
Then our messiah issues his proclamation that the church must go against it’s dogma!
Then out comes their heroine, Sandra Fluke, that 30 year old professional student and contraception expert (and heavy user), to gin up sympathy for all those woman that are in great danger of a health issue unless someone pays for their pills!
Then Rush explained his take on the whole phoney hearing / press conference and Media matters jumped on it. Claiming Rush did a horrible thing! He used a slur! Not like a progressive doesn’t do that over and over every day, but this was a way to get Rush. One of the left’s most hated conservatives.
So Barry jumps right on it! Showing his deep concern for woman, as long as they are not conservatives. (His polling on woman is in the tank.)
Then, as usual, the whole episode blows up in their face. Bill Maher, on of the biggest slur artists gives $1 Million to Barry. Hypocrisy rears it’s ugly head! Barry cheers all woman, Axelrod loves Maher, some explaining is needed. So on it goes. Barry’s sagging numbers are sagging lower! Not how this was supposed to come out.

It is different for him to say something than for some random tv personality like Bill Maher. Plus, Maher makes fun of the left and the right and he calls men the same things he has called palin or bachman. Rush was degrading women who use birth control in general, not public figures. You may argue that the student is a public figure but she wasn‘t really until Rush zeroed in on her and she won’t be anymore in another month but the people maher mocks will be.
Rush speaks for your party. Maher speaks for himself. That’s the difference. Well, that and that Maher has the guts to stand by what he says and Rush backed off and apologized because it started taking revenue away and that‘s what he’s really there for in the first place.

6) Tax cuts…Bush extension.
7) Homeland security

I made it halfway through the movie, the entire time thinking, “This isn’t funny. This is just plain offensive.” I have my issues with religious fanatics, but that never would condone Maher’s behavior, where he blatantly antagonized people and purposely picked “weak” targets to go after. The entire time I just squirmed uncomfortably and didn’t laugh once.
Seems like he hasn’t improved much in the past few years.

I mean, you DO understand that it’s an independent organization that shills for Obama, not Obama’s personal campaign, right? It really makes me sad you feel this way because it is not who we are at all. We who believe in the Bible are not fanatics. We just try to live by what it says and to do otherwise would be hypocrisy. And the guns people carry are just for protection from those who do not want to abide by the law and want to harm or steal from us. So it is a safety issue for us and our loved ones. We love our country very much and want everyone to live in peace, but unfortunately that is not the real world we live in now. Please don’t characterize all of us in such a way as to demean good and loving, law abiding people. We take a stand for our beliefs, just as you take a stand for yours. Right or wrong, we should respect each others opinions without insulting remarks. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone was kind to everyone. Imagine what would happen to our world. How about it starts with you and me?
