David Letterman’s Mom Refuses to Agree With Him About Global Warming On Air

David Letterman usually has his mother Dorothy on every Thanksgiving for a pie-baking segment. During this year’s segment, Dave’s mom noted the unseasonably warm temperatures plaguing his hometown of Indianapolis. “That’s that climate change,” Dave responded.”It’s the global warming. You know that, mom? Do you believe in the climate change, in the global warming?”

“Not really,” she said. Dave shook his head:

Hey Dave. Common sense is a problem when there is an effort to keep the masses absurdly ignorant. You want to resurrect your career. Start using comedy to take on progressive absurdity. You will have an endless supply of material and maybe get a viewership again. And, maybe, you will get your mom to agree with you.

Still going with that global warming Dave.. Indoctrinated fool.. You know what is funny ? last year when all the conservatives were saying look at how cold it is and it snowed in 49 of the 50 states ( or 57 states according to the messiah ) saying how’s that global warming now ? And Al Gore couldn’t be found , the left was saying you can‘t take a few days of cold and say that global warming doesn’t exist, it takes years and years for it to happen gradually.. Yet there is Dave doing it the other way around.. lol, hypocrite much Dave ?

I believe my wife hit the nail squarely on the head when she said,

“Global Warming is caused by Grant Money, remember 30 years ago when the word was that we were entering another Ice Age? What happened to that? President Reagan, had the data studied and the cut off the Grant money, calling the whole affair a word that is very similar to ‘Hogwash’. If it weren‘t for Big Al’s book and his endorsement anyone would have stayed with the biased, twisted science this long. The sad truth is we can’t even predict the weather very well, and predicting planet wide warming or cooling is just conjecture.”

Pretty smart woman my wife, she can spot graft and corruption from miles off, as a small business owner she is pretty familiar with minor bureaucrats and other petty criminals who want a bit of cash in a brown envelope to keep her doors open. She considers just about anyone who is paid from the public purse who can get a bit more money by creating yet another ,‘problem’ which must be solved by yet another ‘investigation or study’ one of these petty criminals, and they should be treated accordingly.

How could half a billion cars and 4 billion beef eating mouths NOT leave the climate in any state but anthropomorphically tainted. This is possibly the only time in Earth’s history when creatures have littered the planet with industrial “achievements”. Deniers of the subtly intensifying atmospheric fluctuations usually misinterpret the explanations given to them. Read some real Geoscience articles, the facts numbers and logic are all on Dave’s side.

Oldsoldier, yea I wasn‘t saying anybody’s producing carbon, and you’re right about the planet being approx a closed loop, but what we are doing is mining the carbon and essentially throwing it into the air. I guess the immensity of atoms that make up our atmosphere is just too confusing and the people too stupefied by tv to thoroughly ponder such sizes and timescales.

Global temperatures are directly conected to solar activity. Solar activity. Solar activity. Solar activity and water vapor. Hmm… water vapor? Compare the greenhouse effects of equal amounts of CO2 vs water vapor. With equal measurements of water vapor vs CO2, water vapor shows about 3 times as much greenhouse effect vs that of CO2. Next, CO2 consists of about 0.04% of air vs 2-3% water vapor. That means water vapor on earth has approximately 300 times the effect of CO2, effectively nullifying it as a legitimate cause of global warming. Note: Methane is a worse greenhouse gas than CO2, with one exception – when mixed with CO2 it forms carbon and water CH4 +CO2 -> 2C + 2H2O. The funny thing is, the solar activity matches the warming paterns of the earth. Hmm…go figure…

DRGONZ, Come on now! It is one thing to acknowledge that human activity has had a marginal effect on the mix of gases in the atmosphere. Marginal as compared to the inputs nature herself contributes.

But do you feel comfortable in participating in the Mad Rantings that the marginal contribution that humans make to the greenhouse gases will definetely… without any doubt… lead to a runaway greenhouse heating and the destruction of the environment and future generations? Are you in the camp that sees using Apocalyptic Rhetoric to place a massive guilt trip on society as justified?

How much heat that gets trapped here is dependent on the THICKNESS of the atmosphere, not just the chemical composition. That is a factor that I notice is STUDIOUSLY AVOIDED by global warming proponents and alarmists,… probably because there is NO WAY humanity can affect the thickness of the atmosphere. If we could thicken the atmosphere, then hell yes the planet’s mean temperature would rise until the Earth was outside the parameters of the “just right” Goldilox condition it has been in for nearly 3.5 Billion years.

We are just on the leading edge of a hysterisis curve in which the biosphere is responding to the increased availability of Co2 in the form of increased tonnage in our forests and increased productivity of grasslands and crops. The ability of the biosphere to sink the extra carbon has a lag time, but it will catch up and cause the increases in atmospheric Co2 to plateau.

And because the relative thinness of our atmosphere does not lend itself to catastrophic increases in mean temperature , we will probably find it desirable to try to increase the Co2 from 350ppm to 500ppm to increase food production for the burgeoning population. I think that we will find that because the biosphere uses Co2 in making every biologically significant molecule from sugar to every carbohydrate through photosynthesis it will be impossible for us to reach 500ppm, even if we gave it our best effort.
