Posted on February 11, 2012 at 12:43amI don’t think I fully realized how totalitarian the Republicans could be, until Santorum started to surge.
Big Government in the “crony caplitalism” way? Yeah, I’ve always understood that both parties play to the crowd looking for government benefits and favorable regulation/legislation. That would be your Newt Romney or any member of the Socialist left.
I reject the notion that government should be the nanny over anyone. Santorum is as far out in the left field of personal control as the actual socialists are. “My way or the highway” Santorum, does’nt sound that much different than the unaccomplished idiot in the White House presently – different sides of the same coin in my opinion.
I’m sure this recent surge will embolden the man – you’d better listen closely – you just might hear the same things I have. Any politician of any side who thinks they know better for me than I know myself – isn’t getting my vote at all.
Folks, you’d better choose carefully – this may be the last time you get to vote at all.

The ONLY things that he voted on that grew government was Medicare Part D and NCLB, which he said was a mistake afterwards.
Calling him a totalitarian or like Obama is taking 2 votes he made and making it appear as the norm.
Romney – Grew government in MS consistently.
Gingrich – Massive Progressive.
Ron Paul – Crazy.
Santorum is the only real conservative left in the race.

I’m beginning to think your parroted propaganda about Ron Paul being “crazy” may have some merit.
It’s becoming more and more apparent that one has to be crazy to think he has a fair shake in this well entrenched, bought and paid for, corrupt cesspool of a system that cheats him out of delegates while selling us the notion that the people‘s votes don’t count (”non-binding”) right before our eyes.
The “establishment” bosses are controlling our “democracy” in some back room.
Doesn’t anyone else see this? This is NOT democracy. It is pure BS, along with Orwellian corporate media accomplices that back this despicable play.

There needs to be a serious stark difference to see what sort of nation we have become. I seriously do not think that Obama will be re-elected, unless we are fooled again. We have been catering to the far left desires and turned this nation into a mess…starting with public education, and thru public education pushing a sick agenda on our children…they have created an environment of hate. jimho

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 8:08amI am disappointed that the GOP keeps wanting someone ‘charismatic’ and ‘angry’ to defeat Obama. They want passion, etc. etc. Well… that’s exactly what the Democrats got in 2008. Did it satisfy them? Are we better off because we had someone who could ‘articulate’ the message? We need someone with a proven record of repairing economies. Someone who has shown they can wade into a mess and make a success, and there is only one person available who can do that. He‘s not ’charismatic and passionate’ but he has the age, the success record and the willingness to do it. I‘m kinda tired of the ’anyone but Romney” crowd. Why? You don’t really have a reason that is logical when it comes to politics. Even Santorum said he was a ‘true conservative’ in 2008. The GOP continually shoots itself in the foot and I’m almost certain it will keep doing it without divine intervention.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 7:12pmUnReconLib,
It’s great that you have all these purist ideals and political rhetoric, but when it comes time to vote, you need to realise that the majority of Americans arn’t that purist or ideology driven, many want their government benefits to continue.
If the Republican Party nominates a guy who promises to end their programs and shrink the government to the point that would satisfy a hard-core Libertarian…. he would get beat in the general election by Barack Obama in a LANDSLIDE. Reality is… There are just too many American voters out there who want a little bigger government, they will not vote for a libertarian small government ideolog that appeals to a narrow group.
To actually WIN (and not just give you a thrill by scoring some purist ideology based points in the debates)…. he’s going to have to appeal to Independents too, not just purist conservatives or hard-core libertarians. Any candidate that just appeals to one of these groups, and not to the more general public out there… will go down in flames in the general election.
I agree we need to be careful when we vote. THINK about who you vote for to represent the party in the general election…. vote for sombody who can WIN in the general election, not just somebody who makes you feel good and represents your narrow view of America. We need a candidate that can even get some votes from the not so hard-core independents, and even some of the disalusioned Demorcats out ther to win.

I assume you like Ron Paul? But the “idiot” argument smacks of somone left of center, or somone who is uneducated. None of those left would be quite as bad as Obama, to say otherwise is rhetoric. Compared to Paul, Santorum is a hands on kinda guy, true but in terms of policies, taxation and spending Santorum seems more like Reagan than Ron Paul. Reagan spent big time on the military during a time we could perhaps afford it, now we need to cut back on just about everything. So is anyone better with freedom that Santorum? Romney is as establishment as they come. He really has no social agenda, other than the dem lib agenda that he passed while governor of some small Eastern State. When a president has no social agenda then the other party wins. Do the Democrats have a social agenda? Hell yes they do and they are not afraid to push it. The establishment Republicans act as if they are ashamed of the social conservative agenda.
The establishment Rebuplicans can’t win a county election without the support of the conservative base but they pay us nothing but lip service. Taken as a whole I want what the establishment wants, the trouble is the establishment could give a care less about what I, the social conservative wants.
Maybe time to start thinking about a third party and let the old guard Republicans take care of themselves.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 8:51amThe Judge’s ratings were in the tank. That’s why Fox Business dropped him. He’s still part of the network. They also dropped Eric Bolling and David Asman. I watched the Judge a few times… and his show sucked. I liked the Judge, but he kind of reminded me of the “wolfie” that Eddie Munster carried around on the old Munsters TV show.
Napalitano was also a big @ss-slapper for Ron Paul… that will make people think twice about anyone’s logical views in relation to anything… even a “Judge” on a business show. That may have helped him lose viewership (if he ever really had any). How can a person truly take anyone seriously who shills for Ron Paul?
Report Post »UnreconstructedLibertarian
Posted on February 11, 2012 at 12:11pmI wouldn’t hold my breath until Napolitano shows up at GBTV. The last appearance the Judge made on Glenn’s show was noticably tense.
Glenn’s assertion that “The truth has no agenda” is about as truthful as Fox’s “Fair and Balanced” mantra. Andrew Napolitano deals in uncompromised, unmitigated truth. Such truth does not sit well with the Beck/Barton contrived concept of American mythology.
Examples: 1.) the Judge reviews Andrew Jackson’s Presidency with fact – citing his good points as such and correctly applying the bad without bias. Glenn demonizes everything Jackson without exception. 2.) The Judge takes the fully body of historical fact and destroys the myth of Lincoln. This causes Beck to go into asthmatic convulsion. Beck n‘ Barton transpose Lincoln’s Big Government sins upon Jackson erroneously. 3.) Ron Paul. The Judges‘ last appearance on Beck’s GBTV show actually included a question to Beck, “Am I allowed to mention Ron’s name on your show?” it was not a comical moment.
I would actually suggest that The Judge, Lew Rockwell, Mises Institute, Peter Schiff, Reason Mag – and the whole host of Libertarian figures combine efforts and use Glenn’s model of media outlet creation for thier own purpose. I’ve already cancelled my renew of the year in advance I donated to GBTV – I’d love nothing more than to dedicate that money (perhaps even more) to a Libertarian based internet network.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 1:46am“So if you have to believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible and not depend on works to get you there, you dont want to be there?”
No–what I am saying is that being good is a superior to seeking to get into heaven. If loving and earnestly seeking good is not sufficient to get into heaven, then I am not at all bothered by my denial of entry. Good is sufficient unto itself to be worth our highest devotion–it needs of nothing else. I’m not opposed to getting into heaven, but I would rather do good than get into heaven if I had to pick between the two. Good ought to be our primary end goal, for its own sake, for the love of good, BECAUSE it is good.
“Meh, at least it will be warm. I believe Jesus existed. I don’t believe he was the son of god. I don’t believe he had supernatural powers. I do, however believe he had some good ideas about how we could be better people.”
I tend to agree–I imagine there must be SOME historical facts to Christianity, and I don’t doubt that Jesus had some very Gandhi-type pacifist humanist philosophical teachings that most people (even today) lead perfectly normal more-or-less moral lives following these ideals.
But I think humans are capable of doing this directly through the application of sense and reason.

Oh wait…I know, they don’t want Ron Paul because they think he is crazy and dangerous…Well sheeple, we need a little crazy and dangerous instead of the STUPID status quo of Romney, Newt or Santorum prevails…They are Obama lite…

BADDOGGY, can you provide me a link to the claims you are marking? I keep hearing that but so far I’ve only been able to find that Santorum is not on the ballot in only a couple of states. Do you have an actual count of how many states he missed out on? I desperately don’t want Santorum to win, and if you can provide the links to show me that, it would really put my mind at east lol.

Posted on February 10, 2012 at 10:00pmI have been very vocal in my support of Newt. But after my caucus (in which I supported Newt) I am seeing a great opportunity in Rick. My concerns about Rick were based on experience and ability to handle a hostile Congress. Newt had the ability to deal with that aspect. If Rick can get Newt on his team it is game over for Obama. I also see Rick asking Paul Ryan to be on the team. Newt already has Bolton and others. It is far from a given that Mitt is the chosen one.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 11:04pmI think you will see that you will be one of many who will be jumping from Newt to Santorum. Newt will never get the Beck fan crowd, combined with Newt’s past positive comments on FDR, and his personal indescretions that are simply too much for me. Newt’s smart — but we are not hiring a debator, we are hiring someone who is going to be under great pressure to sell out — so who has enough character to not sellout? That group is a VERY short list — it sure is not Newt — not with the problems that are coming.

“In a potential Election 2012 matchup, the president attracts 50% of the vote and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney 40%. This is the largest lead the president has enjoyed against Romney in regular polling going back more than a year. It’s also the first time that the president has reached the 50% level of support against Romney.”
“Rick Santorum now trails the president by four percentage points, 46% to 42%. Rasmussen Reports will now be tracking the Obama-Santorum race on a daily basis.”

They are all touting repeal obama care Newt is the only one that has helped to get republicans other than himself elected, and that is what it is going to take. that is why bills are a big deal to repeal them you basically need to prove it is unconstitutional or get a majority vote in both houses of congress and a republican. Think for yourselves we need solutions Newt rattles off 15 solutions that are workable every time he is interviewed by someone without an axe to grind.
Perry, Cain, Palin, and a slew of others realize this. NONE of the other candidates are talking solutions. pointing out what obama is doing wrong is not a solution.
I love Ricks character but his only solution is 0%tax on manufacturing, the rest is what obama is doing wrong.
Blame Newt for dreaming big but that is what we need right now. SOLUTIONS, SOLUTIONS.

Posted on February 11, 2012 at 2:01amI think Mitt Romney is the best and most honest candidate we have. He has not been caught up in the Washington D.C. politics as have all of the other candidates. He knows how to handle finances. He is a God fearing man of faith. It is so sad to hear and see so many people who are against “Mormons” because of what their ministers have told them. What are you so afraid of? Find out for yourself. Mitt Romney has never had an affair, never been reprimanded or voted most corrupt of anything. We need someone we can believe in. Not someone like Santorum who says he supports the Tea Party and then doesn’t. We need someone who tells the truth. Don’t judge a man by his religion that you probably know nothing about from your OWN knowledge, and not what someone else tells you to believe.
