DC Mob Targets Boehner, AT HIS HOME!

And now the protests have migrated to HOMES of Republican politicians. Yesterday morning at 7:30, some two dozen members of an organized group called DC VOTE descended on Speaker Boehner’s residence to deliver a message. They were chanting,
“Don’t tread on DC!”
and
“No taxation without representation.”
The group is allegedly upset at a current budget proposal that would cut some federal funding to the District as well as limiting the use of Federal funds for needle exchange programs and abortions.
The Capitol Police were on the scene to manage the crowd, but the question remains – Why did DC VOTE think it appropriate to bring their protest to the private residence of an elected official? The group’s executive director Ilir Zherka is quoted as saying;
“Speaker Boehner is coming to our home telling us how to spend our money, we decided to come to his house to tell him to leave D.C. alone.”
This is not the first time a protest has moved from public spaces and migrated to private homes. Less than a year ago, 500 SEIU-organized protesters showed up at the home of a Bank of America executive.
And just last month in DC, protesters swarmed the residence of a man who has been vocal about his support for Wal-Mart’s plans to build four stores in DC, stores that could bring as many as 1200 permanent, full-time jobs to the area.
Are these isolated incidences or is a trend developing? The right to assemble in public and protest is fundamental to the American political system. However, this relocation of protests from public spaces to private homes sounds more like something from a Medieval revolt, a storm-the-castle moment. It is certainly an issue to be addressed sooner, rather than after someone is held captive in their home by an angry mob circumventing the political process that has served our Republic for over two centuries.

The Honorable Elenor Del Norton (D) is the House Representitive for The District of Columbia Territory.
Report Post »abseas
Posted on February 18, 2011 at 10:58amNorton was elected in 1990 as a Democratic delegate to the House of Representatives, defeating city council member Betty Ann Kane in the primary despite the last-minute revelation that Norton had failed to file D.C. income tax returns for several years and owed thousands of dollars.[4][5] Her campaign manager was Donna Brazile.[5] The delegate position was open because Del. Walter Fauntroy was running for mayor rather than seeking reelection.[6] Norton took office on January 3, 1991, and has been reelected every two years since.[6] Norton is up for reelection in November 2012.
Delegates to Congress are entitled to sit in the House of Representatives and vote in committee (including the Committee of the Whole), but are not allowed to take part in legislative floor votes.[7] The District shares this limited form of congressional representation with Puerto Rico and four other U.S. territories: Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Legislation strongly supported by Norton that would grant the District of Columbia a voting representative in the House, the District of Columbia House Voting Rights Act of 2009, was passed by the United States Senate on February 26, 2009. However the legislation stalled in the House and failed to pass prior to the end of the 111th Congress.

DC residents pay full federal taxes, fight in wars and serve on juries, but have no representation, no voice in their government.

“While DC residents have an elected mayor and city council, all locally passed laws and the local budget must be sent to Congress for review and approval. How about an easy solution. All those who want to support these programs can fill out a checklist of items that they want the government to take money out of their paychecks in taxes to provide. All those that don‘t want these services won’t have any extra deductions to pay for this and have less taxes taken out of their check. Actually, I hate guns, but have been shopping for one lately. Anyway, we have a concealed handgun law in Texas, which is why I don’t think you can open-carry handguns. Evidently, the logic is that criminals are less likely to mess with someone if they don’t know whether or not that person is carrying a gun. It must work, because our crime rate has fallen like a rock since the law passed. Yet another thing Liberals are wrong about, since they argued that crime rates would increase if the concealed weapon law passed.

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 12:23pmIf I remember correctly, the progs got all outraged over Glenn giving up phone numbers etc.to Dems and Union Chiefs.. They said no one has a right to go to peoples homes.. These people live on hatred and will admit up front that “they” make laws that apply to others, but not themselves.. Thank God the people have wakened..

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 1:09pmWhat the hell is “Lester the Pester”?
Is he related to Chester the Molester?
What about Charleton Hester?
Does he stay at Best Western?
Remember Fred, Lamont, and Aunt Ester?
I would hope the Johnny Boney and the NRA wouldn’t cave in to pressures for frivolous microstamping and other creeping gun restrictions. Our Supreme Court in Ohio has ruled that any laws stricter than theirs is null and void.
People have the right to open carry right now just like the police, but they don’t because the police will violate their 2nd amendment and 4th amendment rights, because of their “reasonable suspicion” bullcrap.
Basically, that means that whenever they deem reasonable, they can consider you suspicious, even if you’re not breaking the law.
What we need right now is a memorandum sent out to all law enforcement statewide, describing the Supreme Court ruling, and explaining to them that stopping and detaining individuals who are exercising their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and open carry (not concealed) is a violation of their rights, and that they would be subject to lawsuits, which they would undoubtedly lose.

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 1:36pmWait a minute… If the D.C. folks want these programs why don’t they get their local government to take them over and then tax D.C. citizens accordingly? The entire country will need to tighten their belts, so what makes these D.C. folks so darned special? NOTHING!

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 1:50pmBoehner is 3rd in line to The Office of President of The United States of America. The AUDACITY, can you imagine if that happened to Pelosi?
Apparently, Boehner needs Secret Service protection and from who? The same type of groups that DHS and the FBI ought to be investigating and prosecuting.
This is not the America we grew up in. This is the America under a socialist regime. How does it feel America? Is this the kind of society you want to live in?
Get your head out of the sand, one day they will come to your home. It literally doesn’t matter which side of the political spectrum you are from…one day they will come for you too. It applies to anyone who reads this post, including the moderator.

DC does have representation, and constitutionally they’re not supposed to have and why should I tell the speaker anything? I agree with the speaker! You need to get a real job and quite freeloading off the government. It’s not up to the government to supply you with fresh needles, so you don’t get aids from your drugs and chosen lifestyle. Get off the dole!!!!

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 4:35pmAm I the only one that noticed the left accuses the right of being violent all the time. But it is the left that routinely uses the threat of violence and force to coerce others to do what they want. Prepare because very bad days are ahead for us all. We all need extra gun control, use both hands.

Posted on February 19, 2011 at 11:45pmThese people have a lot of time on their hands. What happened to reason? People love the limelight. These people want the government to stop spending but yet they are protesting for them to not cut money. I guess when you rely on someone else to live your life you become addicted. Reason where are you?
