DCCC Pulls Campaign Ad Featuring Airplane Flying Over NYC Skyline

DCCC Pulls Weprin Campaign Ad Featuring Airplane Flying Over NYC Skyline

The special election for the congressional seat formerly held by New York Rep. Anthony Weiner is just four days away, leading the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to double down on their attacks of GOP candidate Bob Turner — and apparently forget a few sensitivities along the way.

The DCCC had to swiftly edit their television ad Thursday after it garnered a wave of attention for its depiction of an airplane flying low over the New York skyline.

The ad, released just days before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, attacks Turner for his comments about the U.S. tax code. The plane features Turner’s name and the word “loopholes” is written in the sky (see above).

After the ad piqued the attention of several media outlets, including the New York Observer, the DCCC quickly removed the images of the buildings and yanked the original off YouTube:

DCCC Pulls Weprin Campaign Ad Featuring Airplane Flying Over NYC Skyline

According to the New York Post, a spokesperson said it “made a small tweak to remove the brief image of the skyline.”

The Turner campaign had some harsher words.

“This was as dumb as President Obama sending Air Force One over the Statute of Liberty for publicity shots,” spokesman William O’Reilly said.

Even Politico weighed in on the ad’s appropriateness:

How the Democratic admaker would fail to be cognizant of the sensitivities around seeing an image of a plane hovering near the Big Apple’s skyline three days before the tenth anniversary of Sept. 11 is hard to fathom.

A GOP win over Democrat David Weprin could be within reach in the heavily Democratic district, with Turner leading by 6 points according to the most recent polling.

OMG – New Yorkers must be the most sensitive people on the planet. First , they worry about how muslims might feel because we all acknowledge that muslims were behind 9/11. Now, you can’t even show a picture of an aircraft over the NYC skyline. Gee whiz, why didn’t they move La Guardia and and JFK over to Jersey where aircraft would offfend sensibilities?

Forget the aircraft, you should be offended that the DCCC is trying to invoke fear, not violate sensitivities. News flash, earthquake hits Alaska, NYC panics! Get over yourselves. NYC was attacked on 9/11 because of how it represents what muslims despise about the U.S., not because it was NYC. You can’t even elect leaders who believe in what America represents.

This is a seat that the Dems have always found as safe and barely spent any money. Now they are spending millions and still may lose. ( http://url2it.com/hkjt )

      I call them Criminals.

When your local news comes on tonight and there is a story about a bank robbery or a 7-11 getting robbed, ask yourself, ‘I wonder which Democrat did that?’

In your local jail, what do you think the ratio of Democat:Republican would be?

The party of criminals. The party that doesn’t see the need to follow the rules or abide by law. The party that justifies actions on [perceived] victimization. And, that’s exactly how the DNC intended it.

I am so damned sick and tired of the left using this tragedy for your political gain. When it suits your cause, or pocketbook, you’re for this or that (and i use the term VERY loosely) exploitation of the 9/11 attacks.

When you need to pander to your base and/or prop up the ACLU or the Ground-Zero Mosque, you decry ANY sort of opposition with your flawed and fallable twisted logic (or lack thereof).

I am SICK of you tosspots (look it up, lol)

Not that I am morbid or anything, but when the movie United 93 came out, I bought it, and routinely watch it just to keep it vivid. We can’t forget. Not even 50 years from now, That day changed all of us and some more than others. My son is a constant reminder. He was 5-months old when 9/11 happened and immediately after, my husband’s job kept him traveling 75% of the time because he works for a major defense aircraft company which embeds its personnel with US military forces. Intrinsically, (right or wrong) I blame 9/11 for the weak bond between my husband and son.

Being up by 6 points in the polls against a Democrat in a Democratic district is meaningless. Reid was consistently down by 6 points in his reelection campaign, then miraculously soundly trounced his opponent when the votes were counted. Isn’t that funny how that happens?

They can edit pictures as much as they want but everything about the DNC is offensive to Americans. They are weak, stupid liberals who have no real courage. They can’t even their commercials! Weiner apparently likes your support, but for me I’m glad I not on a team headed by lesbians, sexual deviants and intellectual cripples.

By the way, I thought your creative design department was back in school now. I guess not. They apparently flunked sixth grade and dropped out this year.
