Dead on Arrival: AZ Gov Vetoes Controversial Guns on Campus, ‘Birther’ Bills

KSAZ reports out of Phoenix:

Guns on Campus Bill: SB 1467

- Would’ve allowed guns to be carried on public rights of way at public university and community college campuses
- Applies only to rights of way — not inside classrooms
- University presidents opposed the bill

And:

‘Birther’ Bill: HB 2177

- Would’ve required President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens before their names can appear on the state’s ballot
- Arizona would’ve become the first state to require such proof
- 13 other states have considered similar proposals this year. The proposals were defeated in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maine and Montana

Sorry, students. You check your rights at the resistrar’s office. Okay, nuts! You know where the easy pickin’s are!
Nice to see the faith the intellectuals have in humanity in general and their students specifically. The guy with the badge who represents the state can be trusted, but not the private citizen who bothers to go thru the training and legalities of concealed carry? Smug bastards…. Quit! I hear a lot of folks are looking for jobs.
Most legal gun owners I know are responsible and don‘t reach for a weapon when they get ambushed by life’s trials and tribulations. The few people I’ve met who possessed guns and had no business with them other than to do harm to themselves or others where thugs who possessed a firearm illegaly and the mentally ill. Schools can’t screen for criminal backgrounds and civil commitments? “Aw, geesh! That takes effort -n- stuff! Zero tolerance is so much easier and mindless! Besides… when the nuts come a shootin’, I got good odds he’ll go after the kids and not me.”
Lazy, athoritarian cowards. Every day should begin with a search of their possessions and persons… since you apparently lose your rights once you step onto campus. “What’s this, Professor Fussybottom? A ham sandwich with mayo and ‘cringe’ American cheese?!? This will not be tolerated! This meal is not approved by the Busy Body Police of Wottsa Matta U.!!!”

She smartly side-stepped the all -out attack on her and her state with the 40 + frivolous law suits geared to bury her…instead she rose like the PHOENIX and fried them…and will again…. we don’t need any half measures. I’m sure Gov. Brewer is exhausted and maybe as former Atty General of State of Az she knew parts of the bill couldn’t pass court tests…but a REAL LEADER would have said very simply that no one gets on the ballot in any capacity in AZ unless they can prove who they are and meet all Constitutional and STATE requirements. That would have covered it. WE DO NOT NEED PEOPLE WHO TALK ABOUT IT AND DO NOTHING..but who MAKE THEIR TALK THE REALITY. GAME ON! SARAH in 2012.

Except of course that Arizona doesn’t even issue long form birth certificates. Their birth certificates look a lot like the one Obama has already showed us. That’s why they put in that stuff about baptismal and circumcision certificates, but that would still mean that someone from Arizona who had never been baptized or circumcised could never run for President, and that is obviously unconstitutional.

I’m not an AZ resident, but that’s BS. Those same “unstable kids” could walk around practically anywhere else in Arizona with a gun, but not a college campus. Those professors (remind you most are super liberal anyways) are so bleeping full of themselves. As a college student I wish I could carry a gun on campus, for my own safety and that of others. I’m a pretty good shot and I will be applying to the PD in the next few years. Moreover, consider how many rotc students and current/former soldiers on the recent GI bill would be able to protect themselves and others. If Ms. Brewer has a problem with the language of the bill, then listen up AZ legislators; rewrite the bill and try again.

This measure creates significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Ariz”

Thank you for your kind words, but if I say something true, well spoken, just, of good report, honest, righteous, faithful, or virtuous then the Glory is GODs alone. For I am but a man, fallen and still in need of my savior Christ Jesus. Whereas I do have a very wonderful personal relationship with my Lord, it is nothing unique, for it is GODs desire that we all would know him Face to face, and this truth is written upon our searching hearts and upon the Word of God.

      @KillaFromWazilla
Good morning POTUS, it may be your desire to see me miserable but failure seems to follow in your wake. Not surprising, for you have not chosen to have an individual relationship with GOD, but seek salvation in collectivization which GOD shall not acknowledge for it is a doctrine of man and not of GOD. I occurs to me that your definition of miserable is starkly different than mine, coming through two divergent ideologies. What you see as miserable, I count too the glory of GOD the opportunity to suffer oppression and persecution for Him, in other words what you see as sad makes me glad and visa versa. through the lens darkly, but not through a lens of worldliness which is blind to truth.
      The end justifies the means.

Just to be clear.. When there is a republican presidential candidate that requires “bold questions” from the left, this matter will be settled in two shacks of a lambs tale. The media, the states, the congress, and of course the supreme court will get to the bottom of it in short order. The media does not have to call the left ‘crazy’ to bring up this kind of thing, they already are crazy. The country just follows in lock step. It’s sort of like the current gasoline prices…. no story here, move along.

It’s not the guns that will be outlawed, it’s bullets. They are going after lead bullets, which will make ammo more expensive, they also want an additive to gunpowder which will cause bullets to have a “Shelf Life”, the gunpowder will break down, which of course will keep peole from hoarding. Then they will make it illegal to buy ammo without a license or if you have any kind of record. Then, you can have as many guns as you want, you just won’t be able to get insurance or health coverage or ammo. But hey, a .44 can still crack your head open.

I don‘t think she is clever enough to have done some give and take negotiations with Obama’s hoodlums . Looks like a good old fashioned cave-in . Maybe the NYT and kneepads media will praise her for that . That will be a real crowning achievement for AZ . Thanks for hammering the first nail in our country’s coffin Ms Brewer

The Gov. is being way too “PC” on this one. This requirement is already in the U.S. Constitution. Proving your citizenship shouldn‘t be a problem if you’re a citizen and are being honest with the voters. Only someone with something to hide would have a problem with this.

That’s ok, when they passed the bill in the legislature (70+%) they knew they had more than enough votes to override a veto (67% required).

      “‘Birther’ Bill: HB 2177

“- Would’ve required President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens before their names can appear on the state’s ballot”

This is already a Constitutional requirement; and since it’s in the federal jurisdiction, the states can merely require, DEMAND, INSIST that candidates adhere to the Constitutional requirement to prove they are US citizens.

US Constitution, Article 2, Section 1

“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

“According to the typical liberal media narrative, those of us who have questioned President Obama’s life documents are kooks. Nuts. Creeps. “Birthers.” When Donald Trump raises issues with the birth certificate, members of the left, right, and center assume that he‘s doing so for political reasons and that there’s no real story. They use the Old Jedi Mind Trick: “nothing to see here … move along.”
There’s only one problem. There’s something to see here.

First, the registration number on Obama’s “Certification of Live Birth” (which, as Trump recently explained to an incredulous Meredith Vieira, is not a long form birth certificate) is out of sequence to other birth certificates issued on the very next day in Hawaii to a pair of twins named Nordyke (certifications of live birth and birth certificates carry the same registration number).

Second, according to a private investigator, Susan Daniels, whose work was validated by at least two other investigators I’m aware of, the Social Security number that Obama used for approximately 25 years was issued with a Connecticut-based number, though neither Obama nor anyone in his family lived in that state at any point during their lifetimes. Bill O’Reilly claimed on his April 14, 2011, show that Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., lived in Connecticut “for several years”, but when I called O’Reilly for verification of his source(s), I was put into a voicemail and received no return call. As of this writing, it appears that O‘Reilly’s Mailbag Segment on Obama’s Social Security number has been scrubbed by Fox News from the podcast of the show, along with some viewer mail on the subject. “

Well, she just lost some credibility with Americans all across the country. What did she have to gain by vetoing the bill to prove citizenship? Makes no sense at all. Brewer wants people to prove their citizenship if they live and work in AZ, but it’s not necessary if you want to be president? Something smells really fishy here.

If you care about requirement for being President go to the following address you can see what a true Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth looks like and it sure don’t look like what the Obama people have tried to show us. What you will see is the Certificate of a lady that was born in the hospital Obama claimes he was born in the day after he was born. She ordered it and it cost her $10 to get it why would Obama spend hundreds of thousands to cover his up?

      Wow ! Just wow !
Now this explains why Beck and BOR have been proactively lashing out and excoriating “ birthers” without any provocation.
There was a report I saw ( probably WND .com) that BOR went so far as to flat out lie on air about Obama’s CT SS# and then FOX conveniently removed it from the podcast. I was also amazed @ how the Red Eye gang flung filth , again for no real reason, singing like a chorus and sounding nuttier than the people they were calling nuts.
I pray for the security of the families of these people. When it comes to harming innocent people, muslims have no limits , neither do marxists.

Darn it Fellow Blazers…I KNOW why she vetoed this and now I can’t remember the details…I will search my braincells and get back with you…BUT…I do know that the bill “as written” made it EASY for OTHER forms of ID (Certificates of Baptism, Circumcision Documents) to be used as substitutes instead of only original birth certificates…I don’t know who the idiots were that designed the bill…but, evidently THEY GOT THE WORDING WRONG…that’s part of the reason it was not worth the paper it was written on…I can’t answer for the Governor…but I hope this is part of her reasoning…it wasn’t going to accomplished what was intended in the first place…..grrrrrrrr….when the h*ll are we ever going to get this crap right, when America? How is it that the only ones entrusted to make an objective, rational decision in this political arena are Democrats? Republicans disqualify themselves on the basis of a fear that they will be called partisan or racist. They go to battle with an arm tied behind their back after shooting themselves in the foot.

….As for her decision to veto this bill, Gov. Brewer said in part: “I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for President of the greatest and most powerful nation on earth to submit their ‘early baptismal or circumcision certificates’… this is a bridge too far. This measure creates significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Arizona.”

Hawaii officials have certified Obama was born in that state, but so-called ‘birthers’ have demanded more proof.

“I feel uncomfortable as a prior secretary of state that one person would be the gatekeeper for all elected officials, not only fot the president but all legislatures in cities and counties. And I believe the bill doesn’t serve Arizona well.”
