Deadly Border Clashes: Israeli Forces Confront Pro-Palestinian Protesters on Multiple Fronts

Jerusalem (CNN) — Clashes between pro-Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces erupted along Israel’s borders Sunday, leaving at least 12 dead on a Palestinian mourning day marking the birth of the Jewish state.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decried what he called “violent demonstrations” aimed at undermining Israel’s existence.
“We hope for the peace and restfulness to return quickly, but no one should be mistaken — we are determined to defend our borders and our sovereignty,” Netanyahu said.
The conflicts broke out on “Nakba Day.” Nakba — Arabic for “catastrophe” — marks the period when more than 700,000 Arabs were displaced from their homes during the fighting following the creation of Israel in 1948.
Two protesters were killed and 170 were wounded when fighting broke out in the Golan Heights area, the Syrian Arab News Agency said. And at least 10 were killed and 112 others were injured in clashes along the border with Lebanon, Lebanon’s state news agency reported.
“I see fingerprints of Iranian provocation and an attempt to use Nakba Day to create conflict,” said Brigadier General Yoav Mordechai, a spokesman for the Israeli army. Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz accused Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of sending protesters across the border to deflect attention from domestic unrest.
The violence comes as Israeli-Palestinian peace talks are at a standstill and protests move through the Arab world, with demonstrators ousting the leaders of Egypt and Tunisia and threatening the regimes in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Bahrain.
“The wave of anger that has been sweeping across Arab societies is clearly coming to Israel’s shores now,” said Yoram Meital, director of Ben Gurion University’s Herzog Center for Middle East Studies in Beersheva. “Today’s violence was unprecedented in the way that it happened on several borders at once, and I don’t think it’s over.”

Hundreds of Palestinians moved across the Syrian border into the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights. The border breach set off several hours of violent clashes in which at least four people were killed. At the Qalandiya checkpoint on the outskirts of Ramallah in the West Bank, Israeli troops rushed in to disperse protesters, leaving several wounded. Israel‘s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that he will vigorously defend his country’s borders after the mass infiltration from Syria.

With all due respect I must disagree. This is exactly why we MUST have a third party, or multiple other parties. Neither the R‘s or the D’s are worthy of our support. They have both worked diligently, and in concert, to put us exactly where we are today.
Your strategy is short term I’m afraid. We must think past the current need to get Obama out of the WH. If we don’t we will be in this same mess for a long, long time, at least until the United States is destroyed completely.

What to really expect in the coming weeks, months and years? Well, many more people will die. No one in the reigon really wants to solve this nor assert “peace” so let them fight it out. I’m tired of hearing about the poor israelis and the poor palestinians blah blah blah…just kill each other and get it over with.

They all deserve freedom and liberty etc…
but “deserves” has got nothing to do with this. Both sides are flawed and perhaps the best answer is to relocate the Jewish state to another continent.
Allow me to get dialectical:
Preserving tourist traps, relics and imagined holy lands is not a good cause for WW3. Nor is it submitting to the islamic threat by relocating. The placement of the state of israel was an egregious mistake by the UN after the close of ww2. The current “arab spring” has many “democratic” and western friendly currents that are by no means assured any success in the long run but the Arab and Muslim (they ARE NOT ALL TERRORISTS) populations consider the placement of the Jewish state on “their” land as an invasion on their “holy” grounds and the more religious reactionaries involved in the current “arab spring” are all too willing to exploit this sentiment for their own advantage. A proposed Israeli relocation would cut these sentiment off at the knees (especially now) and buy time for the more moderate revolutionaries to gain power. —I see some points to this but I can’t quite convince myself this is the best option. First of all (i didn’t express it clearly here), it is VERY far-fetched.
I could also argue that the UN is setting up Iran through the very same means.

When it was one of our many prayer times during our worship service this morning, our minister in our UMC said, “I have been specifically asked to ask us to pray for ISRAEL and for the UNITED STATES. We will add them to our prayer list.”
So, the group that said it was speaking for or on behalf of the UMC that the UMC is standing against ISRAEL is wrong, out of line, over the edge, etc. Not ALL, if any or many, of the UMC churches all falling off to the left, I hope. Will know more tomorrow, I suspect.

You seem fascinated by walls. Let me explain a difference among them that may have escaped you, since you seem a bit confused:
The wall of Berlin and East Germany, erected by Kruschev and his puppets, was intended to keep their own people IN. To prevent them from LEAVING. The wall (a fence really) in Israel, and the wall we want built along our southern border, are more analogous to the Great Wall of China that was constructed to keep out invaders. A defensive structure. Do you see that? Berlin Wall: Prison for people who’ve committed no crime. Wall on US southern border: Defensive device.
I am relatively certain that once such a wall would be built, Mexico would still gladly welcome you and beat you and take your cash, and hold you hostage for your family to pay a ransom, same as ever.

You didn’t think Israel would even care, and just let you march right in a threaten their very existence?

That’s my beef. The United States Media and most of Europe‘s Media is almost entirely and I’m talking >90% Jewish controlled.. It’s a shame.. We fret daily why our country is falling apart and Europe is in a dire situation.. BTW, I’ve seen several clips on FOX and CNN where the IDF were firing their machine guns through barbed fences.. Didn’t really see the people they were shooting but had to believe that they were the protesters due to the setting.

Israel has not been cut off since Obama became President. They still get their 3-15 Billions of US Treasure each and every year whether they need it or not. Since they are debt free and the US has a 14 trillion of long term debt maybe we can convince them to suspend this payment for the next 100 years and they can begin helping us make payments on our national debt?
Besides a lot of the money which is set aside for Israel each year is just funneled back into America to support their causes which is usually the DNC. Finally all of you people on the Blaze that believe Obama is anti-Israel are high on something. The Jew chose Obama to run America plain and simple.. They chose him to sell their Marxist policies to America because he is the ultimate salesman. If Obama were to step out of line they’d destroy him in a nano-second. The only difference Israel welcomed these displaced Jews whereas Arab countries for the most part refuse to assimilate Palestinians. Those same people never seem to consider the continued rocket attacks by Palestinians against Israeli civilians. Israel was re created by the same institutions which created Syria and other ME countries. And as for shooting Mexicans on the border, how would you feel if Mexicans were indiscriminantly firing rockets into American cities while vowing to push all Anglos into the sea? Israel as well as the US have a responsibility to defend its borders especially against those who would willingly and gleefully kill as many as they could. Most of the displaced Palestinians fled Israel when Arabs attacked the new state of Israel in 1948. Those countries involved with that attack need to resettle those who choose to leave.
