Debbie Wasserman Schultz Tentatively Calls Wis. Recall a ‘Dry Run’ for Obama Campaign Before Clarifying Comments

Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz offered a somewhat tentative note on the Wisconsin recall election on Sunday before clarifying to say she believes Milwaukee Democratic Mayor Tom Barrett is well-placed to beat Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

(Related: Dems scrounge for help in Wisconsin recall race)

“We have put our considerable grassroots resources behind [Barrett], all of the Obama for America and state party resources,” the Florida congresswoman said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” according to Politico. “I think what’s going to happen, because of our on-the-ground operation, we’ve had an opportunity in this election…to give this a test run….Ultimately, I think Tom Barrett will pull this out, but regardless, it’s given the Obama for America operation an opportunity to do a dry run that we need.”

A poll released last week showed Walker leading Barrett 50 percent to 42 percent.

Wasserman Schultz subsequently tweeted after the segment: “Let me be clear & direct: I will be in WI to raise $ & for GOTV push [because Barrett is] well positioned to win on 6/5.”

Always nice to see an upstanding citizen supporting a governor who won’t comment on the ongoing criminal investigation, but feels a need to form a criminal defense fund. There is only so much money to go around and if nothing else the recall will drain his coffers and he will be left high and dry when the November elections take the front seat.

    Being from Florida I can tell you that it will almost be impossible to get rid of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The 20th congressional district she represents has been held by a Democrat since the District was created in 1993. The district contains a high concentration of liberals and a large population of LGBT residents and gay neighborhoods such as Wilton Manors who mostly tend to vote for Democrats

      Using Debbie Washerwoman Shoes and principles in the same sentence is really an oxymoron. One example of Shoes’ principles came during the 2010 campaign when she held a campaign rally outside of Rep. Col. West’s campaign headquarters. The problem with that is that Rep. West‘s district is completely separate from Shoes’. Really wish that during the so-called “dry run,” her mouth would go dry.

    Notice the “clarification” was made after the CNN comment. II believe the “let me be clear” clarification came straight from the White House after they heard what she initially said. She spoke before the annointed one gave her permission and she had to go back and “clarify” her remarks.

    I agree with Schultzie on this one. A Blazer from WI yesterday commented on the busses of union thugs being sent into Wisconsin. A recent poll showed Walker ahead by 8 points. If Walker loses, you can be sure of voter fraud and intimidation which will, indeed, be a precursor of the national election in November.

      Busses are only going into Milwaukee and Madison. Barrett has arranged to keep the polls open late every night, and ALL THIS WEEKEND! Lots of out of state plates and lots of folks who aren’t sure exactly where they are usually supposed to vote or where exactly they live………but they are voting.
