George Zimmerman Back in Police Custody

MIAMI (AP) — George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer charged with murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin, surrendered to police Sunday and was booked into jail after having his bail revoked two days earlier.

Zimmerman’s legal team said in a tweet that he was in police custody. Zimmerman’s bail was revoked because the judge said he and his wife lied to the court about their finances so he could obtain a lower bond.

On Sunday afternoon, about 40 minutes before the 2:30 p.m. deadline to surrender, Zimmerman was listed as an inmate on the jail website. He was listed as being held without bail and having $500 in his jail account.

Zimmerman arrived at the jail in a white minivan and was escorted by two sheriff’s officials. He did not respond to questions from reporters as he walked inside, handcuffed and wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a button-down shirt.

Prosecutors had said Zimmerman and his wife told the judge at a bond hearing in April that they had limited money, even though he had raised about $135,000 through a website. Defense attorneys said the matter was a misunderstanding.

Attorney Mark O’Mara announced earlier Sunday on his website that Zimmerman had arrived in Florida late Saturday evening ahead of his surrender. Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of the 17-year-old Martin, was ordered by a judge Friday to return to jail.

During a bond hearing in April, the couple had indicated they had limited funds. But prosecutors say Zimmerman had raised thousands through a website he had set up for his legal defense.

Zimmerman’s legal team said Sunday that they will ask for a new bond hearing to address those concerns, and that they hope Zimmerman’s voluntary surrender will show he is not a flight risk. Furthermore, the money Zimmerman has raised is in an independent trust and cannot be directly accessed by Zimmerman or his attorneys, according to the press release.

Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to the second-degree murder charge. He maintains he shot Martin in self-defense under Florida’s so-called “stand your ground” law because the teen, who was unarmed, was beating him up after confronting Zimmerman about following him in a gated community outside Orlando.

Zimmerman’s credibility could become an issue at trial, legal experts said, noting the case hinges on jurors believing Zimmerman’s account of what happened the night in February that Martin was killed.

Zimmerman wasn’t charged in the case until more than a month after the shooting. Protests were held across the nation, and the case spurred debate about whether race was a factor in Zimmerman’s actions and in the initial police handling of the case. Martin was black; Zimmerman’s father is white and his mother is from Peru.

Police in Sanford did not immediately arrest Zimmerman, citing the Florida law that gives wide latitude to use deadly force rather than retreat in a fight if people believe they are in danger of being killed or seriously injured.

Zimmerman was arrested 44 days after the killing.

Prosecutors pointed out in their motion that Zimmerman had $135,000 available when the bond hearing was held in April. It had been raised from donations through a website he had set up. They suggested more has been collected since and deposited in a bank account.

Shellie Zimmerman was asked about the website at the hearing, but she said she didn’t know how much money had been raised. Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester set bail at $150,000. The 28-year-old was freed a few days later after posting $15,000 in cash – which is typical.

Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda complained Friday, “This court was led to believe they didn’t have a single penny. It was misleading and I don’t know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie.” The judge agreed and ordered Zimmerman returned to jail by Sunday afternoon.

The defense countered that Zimmerman and his wife never used the money for anything, which indicated “there was no deceit.”

The judge said he would schedule a hearing after Zimmerman is back in custody so he could explain himself.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Trayvon Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, said his clients have always said Zimmerman should remain in jail until trial.

      Some things never change. The democrats do not seem to change. They may try to hide their racism with a little welfare for groups they can control, but they have no love for the Hispanic man.

      The same democrats that fought to keep slaves, started the KKK, enacted Jim Crow, fought to keep the schools segregated, voted against civil rights, now are the same democrats wanting to unjustly punish the brown man. Hispanics may want to wake up. If the democrats cannot control you, then they have no problem lynching you. Notice that when the NBPP put out a reward on Zimm’s head, the rhyming reverends, the DOJ, the President, the MSM, and the rest of the dems kept their pie holes shut. Their silence is their consent.

      Wake up Zimm. The folks you been voting for, want you dead. Smell the poop, they will have your head before this is over.

      When it comes to race issues, the dems don’t play. They have a long nasty history of killing and lynching minorities.

      Zimmerman was arrested under false pretenses for second degree murder by a disgusting prosecutor that issued an affadavit, citing false allegations and omitting valid evidence that pointed unequivocally toward self-defense under normal self-defense laws, all for the pupose of stopping rampaging criminal mobs of anti-white, racist blacks from rioting.

      The disgusting kangaroo court judge should have dropped the charges, but is part of the corrupt plan by Florida’s elites to offer up a scape goat to the blacks to prevent their intended destruction of life and property.

      If he tried to get bail reduced it was a legitimate effort certainly since he should NEVER have been arrested to begin with.

      If the financial collapse comes about within the next couple of years as forecast by many, I hope a citizen’s group gets together and tries these criminal, corrupt politicians, and, if found guilty, hangs them in public.

      gimme a break. Zimmerman and his wife conspired to lie to the court and his wife perjured herself under oath. read the trial transcript and read the motion to revoke bond. this has nothing to do with liberals and all to do with an idiot getting caught in a lie on a jailhouse phone.

      you can all convince yourself that there are boogeymen behind Zimmerman being returned to jail. but you would be wrong. Zimmerman did this to himself. had he not conspired to lie, he would have paid bail – maybe a little bit more – and he would have been granted bond.

Is it possible for a Democrat to serve her or his country without lynching minorities? Audie Murphy? James Webb? Leon Panetta? A PFC out of sniper school? Holly Petraeus?

      I try to set a good example for my children – I teach them to fight back with precision, but not to cause fights and certainly not to be use fighting words for no reason.

      Hey there cuz..

      Yep, a little bit of sarcasm with some of the left leaners on here, but a whole lot of truth with what I said about dems.

      I believe there are a good number of democrats in this country that really mean well. They are well intentioned, at wanting to help the poor, feed the hungry, and get healthcare for the sick. I also believe they are genuinely ignorant to what the dems really have become. While some of the voters may have good intentions, I see not good intentions from Pelosi, Reid, Obama, the Kennedys, the Clintons. I find these people to be evil, and they play on peoples emotions to push toward dismantling our constitution.

      While I said many of these folks that vote dem have good intentions, they fail to see the havoc welfare is having on many of our minorities and our “poor”. I use the term “poor” loosely, as there are very few real poor people in America. The folks in our projects live much better than much of the world. We have folks on welfare with giant screen TVs in their houses, the latest high dollar Nike shoes, and a whole lot of gold bling. I know, I have been in their houses. We are the only nation on the earth, where the poorer you are, the fatter you are. That says a lot.

      As far as Tifosa, she/he is a moon/bat, and if you stuck her brain in a humming bird, she would most likely fly backwards, and s u c k -a mule’s butt for a morning glory.

      Speaking of Holly Petraeus, did you know that she once played on Jeopardy? She got smoked. I worked with her husband long before he got famous. He is one smart dude. I do not think he would run, but I bet there is no one Obama fears more in an election, than Dave Petraeus. Petraeus is has something going for him that most generals do not. Women in the middle would vote for him. He does not come across like a Norman Schwartskoff loud mouth with a big ego. He comes across as a thinker with his PHD from Princeton. I do not know for sure, but I would bet he is a dem. Not sure of his stance on gays in the military, as he walked around that mine field. Also not sure of his stance on abortion and such. I do believe he is the sort that has the brains to fix the economy, and some other issues. He is always smart enough not to stick a foot in his mouth, or show all of his cards.

      On the lighter side, I am having a bumper crop of yellow squash, and zucchini this year. To bad you do not live in my neck of the woods, as I would sure give you a mess. The stuff is great on the grill, with a little olive oil, and black pepper.

      Are we seriously saying this is the best way to put him in jail? They‘re probably setting it up so if they can’t get him on murder, they can at least put him in jail for a year or two under this ridiculous manner. Pure horse crap. Why? Because they had a bit more money then they were lead to believe? Were they suppose to say, “Ok, well we have $100K to put down towards bail, so make his bond $1,000,000 so that ALL of the money we raised will go JUST to his bail” rather than what it will be needed for, to pay for his high priced lawyer to get him a not guilty verdict.

      That money was raised for legal defense not for “give it all to the state for bail”

      American Soldier (Separated) – being held while awaiting trial is a standard practice. so is setting bond and paying bail. these practices have existed as long as our country has and is part of our constitutional system. when the judge sets bail the amount is within that judges discretion. defendants awaiting trial are held if they may be a flight risk. the judge evaluates that and makes a determination. that determination is made based on the resources available to somebody. generally, one puts up 10% of the specified bond – thereby, Zimmerman paid $15k – 10% of 150k. but that amount was set by the judge on the basis that Zimmerman had nothing at all. $15k isn’t nothing, but it is peanuts to a big drug dealer or a white collar criminal. it was a huge mistake for Zimmerman’s defense to lie.

      as we now know that Zimmerman turned in an expired passport and kept a valid one that he had hidden, and he had communications with his wife about the whereabouts of that passport, now he has really exposed himself to not only a lack of credibility but the judge has much more reason to consider him a flight risk at this point.

      does the judge have it out for Zimmerman? no. stop being so reactionary. the judges main concern is overseeing a fair trial and not having the defendant skip out and leave the country – which would be a HUGE embarrassment.

      btw – all of this crying about the special prosecutor is quite hilarious as it is Governor Rick Scott who named her.

      Zimm is not a big drug dealer or a white collar criminal, so why is it relevant to this case? The judge didn’t think the passport was an issue, so why are you weaving a tale around it?

      Zimm IS unemployed, quite penniless and in need of a heck of a lawyer. He didn’t lie. That money was not raised for “Miscellaneous Expenses.” Go to his website. He clearly states it’s SOLELY for legal defense and living expenses, since he can’t work and has been forced into hiding by riled-up blacks who want to lynch him. If I collect money for a specific need/cause, do I have the right to use it for something else? So you libs are saying he should have LIED TO and DEFRAUDED his donators? Cool, no wonder you voted for Obama.

      Now you tell me why the prosecutors waited a month and a half to bring this up. Is it because it’s time to stoke the fire to keep it burning?

      I can tell you this. I have no faith in the Court systems. I was 18 and showed proof that I was innocent of a charge (minor one at that) Yet the judge refused my evidence. It took a honest DA to drop the case yet I still had to pay 450 dollars in fines. It was for a moving violation if you must know. the DMV imputed the wrong vin numbers and it cause a flag on my car. My Insurance was intact but DMV refused to see the letter as well and change the data.
      WE live in a very bad time if we allow government to go unpunished for mistakes. If they corrected it and gave me a letter it would have been fine with me. Mistakes happen but they kept the lie going.

    If we had a real president that wasn’t always kissing up to what political opinion says – this travestity wouldn’t have happened. Polisie and Harry passed a Hate Crime Law in Obamas first year in office. We have a head at DOJ that can only see one color and one race and Justice is supposed to be blind. If it was the KKK rather than Black panthers that put out the dead or alive posters they would be in jail. I’M wandering if there will be a lynch mob before this is over? Florida’s Defense law has been trashed – where are Reps. from the state and why aren’t they standing behind Zimmerman. I’m glad Obama has lost the Latino vote – these people aren’t ignorant like he thinks they are.

It states that a person can be tried for the same crime twice if he or she is being tried by more than one distinct, sovereign government. A person could be tried by the federal government and by a state government for the same crime because both are distinctly sovereign units that have their own sets of laws and their power derived from different sets of people.

      But it gets even more bizarre. Most white conservatives:

      -believe his story (I don’t) and believe he is innocent.
      -defend the application of the stand-your-ground” law to this case.

      The final irony is that more than likely this guy voted for Obama. And since he was thrown over to our camp and we took him in, Obama can hang him from a tree (already did) and still keep the Latino vote in 2012.

      This man has a right to a fair trial, absolutely, but why are we letting libs drag us into court with one of their own?

    I am not surprised that Mr. Zimmerman had to go back to jail. I don’t think the reason is valid. The judge has already invalidated him or herself by withholding evidence. I am sure Mr. Zimmerman did the right thing and was concerned. He fought back and did what he had to do to defend himself.

    I like to think he is in protective custody, much as it stinks, because of the bounty put out by the New/Old Black Panthers. If he were to be killed either before or after a not-guilty verdict, other innocent people would be killed. Thanks Mr. President, for bringing the races closer than ever.

    I would suggest all who are reading and who are legally able to get their CCW permit. I just got mine.

This is what is being reported about her testimony: “When asked specifically about a website Zimmerman had set up, which was linked to a PayPal account, Shellie Zimmreman testified that she did not know how much money was in the account. Shellie Zimmerman also told the judge at that time that her brother-in-law would be the person who knew how much money was in the account, but that he was not there to talk to the judge. Shellie Zimmerman added that she did not know how long the website had been in existence, since she had not seen her husband since he went into hiding (prior to his arrest) — though they communicated daily by phone.”

      Now exactly what evidence do you have to support an accusation she lied? You do know that calling someone a liar is slander and you can be held legally liable for damages for that action?

      Sorry, Blazers, American justice isn’t pretty–pity you don’t show half this amount of concern for the thousands disproportionately imprisoned with respect to race, with far less fuss or reason, for minor drug offenses, because of similar reasons, or even less good ones (some of them don’t have access to hundred thousand dollar pay-pal accounts because of all the good white people who are so “concerned” to see poor Zimmerman get acquitted for defending himself, with lethal force, against a “vicious” unarmed black man…wait boy, about a hundred pounds lighter, but whatever), who regularly plead guilty to crimes they may, or may not, actually be guilty of simply because they know they can’t win, they know they don’t have the money, the public sympathy, to win, all for minor drug offenses that people shouldn’t be going to prison in the FIRST place for.

      First, it was the state media and blacks who injected race into this case for political gain. Second, Martin was 17, just one year shy of the legal age. However, you libs purposefully call him by his first name, as if he was a 10-y/o kiddie. Third, M was considerably taller and stronger than Zimm, since Z sustained injuries to the head and face. I know they were not self-inflicted injuries, because that requires privacy and time, and Z had neither. Also, a doctor should be able to determine if they were self-inflicted.

      That said, I think the guy we hear on tape in high distress mode is M. So unless Z comes up with a more credible story, I am inclined to think Z pulled out a gun (in self-defense, yes), M got hysterical and started crying out for help, but Z was enraged and shot him anyway. I may change my mind during the trial, but that tape sounds pretty d@mning.

      @13th Generation American…It hasn’t been established that Zimmerman confronted Martin. In fact, if you’ve kept up with the story, it sounds like Martin confronted Zimmerman.

      Use some common sense for Pete’s sake. Had Zimmerman intended to hunt Martin down like a dog and kill him, he would have never called 9-1-1 to report Martin in the first place.

      The truth is probably closer to this … Martin realized he was being watched by Zimmerman, got nervous and decided to confront him. The confrontation got heated, which led to physical violence ending in a shooting. We don’t know where the gun was at the time of the confrontation, or if it was drawn only moments before it was shot. We also don’t know if Martin was attempting to get the gun to use on Zimmerman. The one thing we know for certain, based on what has been reported, is that it wasn’t premeditated murder.

      For Look4dbigpicture: There is no evidence that Zimmerman was a victim. As a matter of fact the prosecution could make a case that he was the kind to hunt minorities and has a violent past. On his Facebook page he made comments that Mexicans like to break into cars and that ALL Mexicans pull knives on people. He was arrested for resisting arrest and assault on a police officer; and twice for domestic violence. Daddy the Judge seems to have intervened as the records are sealed something usually done for all juveniles, not for adults. His latest acts in court could get perjury charges for his wife and him.

For every Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman story on the blaze, there are about 500 posts and of those, you’d be lucky to read five in support of Trayvon. But as the saying goes, Jesus was in the minority, so I guess Trayvon’s parents should feel that they are in good company.

    I reitterate from the previous story, Sad thing is, this would be a non story if treyvon had killed Zimmerman. There would be no protests, no speaking out from the president. It might have gotten a 5 minute blurb on the local news. Perfect examples are the needless slaying of 2 british tourists by black teens, no coverage here, the slaying of the mentaly handicapped 21 year old at a drive through because he slapped a windshield on the driver’s side and the passenger exited his vehicle and shot him dead. The beating of the white woman at a mcDonald’s drive through for asking a black woman to have some COMMON DECENCY to pick up her own trash. Obama was supposed to be the “great uniter” akin to Abraham Lincoln. I’ve never seen this country so devided because of race in my lifetime. It’s sad, it’s despicable, and people of all races, creeds, and sex need to wake the #ell up and realize we’re being played and pitted against one another while our elected officials and media sit back and laugh at us while collecting their fortunes off of our misery.     Would it not make sense to say that the monies he is raising will go for his defense? Knowing what I know about the “back room”, there is a taint odor. This is something that should be straightened out and if it isn’t, weeelllllll..you fill in the blanks. This incident is so indicitive of the media and it’s leanings. How about the kids that lit the other kid trying to get away on fire on his very own porch? Oh, wrong color.

      Problem is anyone can set up a website; it was not operating as a non-profit nor incorporated-therefore unregulated and Zimmerman could buy a car if he wanted to. Judges and prosecutors do not like being lied to & the concealing of a second passport makes law enforcement think that the perp is a flight risk. Zimmerman dug his own hole & the judge in the 1st instance didn’t have to grant bail. IF he does again it’ll probably be higher and something like an electronic ankle device may be ordered.

      I’m also sticking to the facts/evidence, as best I can. So let’s go on facts, not hypotheticals. According to the defense attorney, Zimm had not touched that money when bail was set. A month and a half later, the prosecution suddenly decides to bring it up. Give me a break.

      Did Zimm flee the country? Did he fail to turn himself in within 48 hrs., as per the judge’s orders?

      Steelhead, we all know that Zimmerman cannot be trusted. The only reason he has not skipped bail, is because his passport was taken, and the entire world knows who he is, and he would be arrested at the first airport he tries to take a flight out of. He cannot hide, which is why he has not tried to run. But I know his conscience is killing him inside and he knows that he is guilty, but is hoping that something goes his way in court. Or that he perhaps get a jury that sees color.

      Barber2 the person to whom you were directing your comments, the one about being a fly on the wall, i’d say a fly on a nearby nasty pile of dog crap in this particular situation, I don‘t think a wall was near enough to the ’crime’ sceen to have obtained the kind of facts that hey have presented. That person/fly had to be really close

      One thing’s for certain Zimmerman killed Trayvon. It’s a dirty shame that Trayvon decided to try and take out the Z man. He‘d probably still be alive today if he hadn’t, well that‘s if Z hadn’t pulled out his trusty 45 magnum and told Tray “Make my day.” Zim is one smart cookie, well as smart as one can be who’s a registered democrat, now he’s talking to his wife using a clever code in an effort to lie to the cops who were I guess tapping his line and listening in. The prosecutor and the judge, in this case, apparently graduates of the prestigious Barnie Fife School of Law Enforcement, have everything under control.

      We probably wouldn’t have even heard about this confrontation, had Tray killed the Z man. Z‘s only a ’white hispanic’ and apparently a part black one at that, so he doesn’t count. well at least not to Owl Sharpton and his posse, the prosecutor, or the judge, the left and other’s with the same sterling mentality.

    It is impossible for Zimm to hide from the law; he has been banished from the white, black, and Hispanic communities. The court must allow Zimm to live without bond among his loved ones as he awaits the jury’s verdict.
