Defunct or Lying Low? Once Powerful Soros Backed Project Goes Mysteriously SilentGeorge Soros

The Secretary of State Project, the once influential group backed by billionaire philanthropist George Soros, has either gone into hiding or informally disbanded.

What happened? Did the group just disappear? Well, before we investigate the group’s possible demise, perhaps a quick history lesson is in order.

The Secretary of State Project was created for the sole purpose of stopping Republicans from “stealing elections” (the project’s founders were a little sore about that whole Kathleen Harris thing). So how did the group plan to accomplish this? Simple: financially back and “get out the vote” for like-minded (i.e. “left-leaning”) candidates running for secretary of state.

“In most states the secretary of state is the chief elections officer, so putting left-wingers in the often-overlooked but critically important office allows these political radicals to manipulate the electoral process,” writes Matthew Vadum for the American Spectator.

“This is what liberals call ‘election protection,’” he adds.

Add billionaire donor George Soros and the Democracy Alliance, “a billionaires’ club that funds left-wing political infrastructure,” to the mix and the Secretary of State Project quickly became an organization capable of making or breaking candidates running for state secretary.

It’s a brilliant idea, really: form a group capable of donating massive amounts of cash to a like-minded candidate running for an office that although commonly overlooked, and therefore relatively cheap to campaign for, is responsible for certifying elections.

After all, as Vadum notes, it was Joseph Stalin who once said: “The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.”

The idea of controlling who counts the votes is hardly original. In fact, Secretary of State Project co-founder Rebecca Bond once said:

Any serious commitment to wrestling control of the country from the Republican Party must include removing their political operatives from deciding who can vote and whose votes will count.

The group was initially successful.

“They helped to elect Saul Alinsky-inspired community organizer Mark Ritchie, the ACORN-loving Minnesota secretary of state who presided over Al Franken‘s theft of incumbent Republican Norm Coleman’s U.S. Senate seat in the 2008 election cycle,” Vadum writes.

And everything was going smoothly for the organization until President Barack Obama decided to pound through his unpopular health care bill. When “Obamacare” passed, wealthy groups like the Secretary of State Project were powerless against the 2010 Republican “Red Wave.” That year, out of the seven secretary candidates backed by the Soros-funded project, only two won.

Apparently, it was all downhill from there.

Since the 2010 losses, the Secretary of State Project has gone eerily silent. As the American Spectator notes, the project’s website has been offline since July 2011. The group’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Twitter account have not been updated since 2010.

“The group hasn’t endorsed any candidates for the 2012 election cycle and its most recent IRS filings show almost no financial activity since the 2010 election cycle,” Vadum reports.

Did the “Republican electoral tsunami” destroy the Secretary of State Project’s standing? Perhaps, Vadum writes. Many signs would seem to point to it — but you’re not going to hear that from the group’s leaders.

When contacted by the American Spectator, Rebecca Bond, the group’s aforementioned co-founder, refused to offer a comment on the status of the group.

And she wasn’t the only one keeping silent.

“Wayne State law professor and community organizer Jocelyn Benson, who was beaten decisively in blue state Michigan by Republican Ruth Johnson in 2010, failed to return telephone calls,” Vadum reports.

“Benson, who lost by five percentage points despite running in a blue state, being endorsed by the Secretary of State Project, and outspending her opponent by a quarter of a million dollars, failed to return telephone calls,” he adds.

Perhaps the project is defunct. Perhaps it’s just keeping a low profile. The group’s status is uncertain. However, what we do know is that several of the major players associated with once powerful Soros-funded project, including James Rucker of “Color of Change” fame, have set their sights on another major voting issue: voter ID laws.

      Of course a GREAT failure of Soros’ group was the Kansas election of 2010 where Soros backed and heavily funded a Republican in the primary as he always does in the Secratary of State Project and Chris Kobach still won and the Soros backed Democrat lost is a landslide in the general. We have to pay attention to these. The fraud that these Soros operatives is not just normal giving out cigarettes and bus rides and stuffing ballots but also sending to few ballots and voting machines to Republican voting districts and manipulating primaries on both sides. One way to combat this is to become a poll watcher and demand that people get to vote with or without ballots and encourage them to stay in line instead of being tricked into not voting or coming up with ingenious solutons to the lack of resources in conservative voting districts. You have to be able to both plan and think quick on your feet.I personally saved at least 100 conservative ballots in my assigned poll watching area in the 2010 midterms. You can too.

      George Soros stole the equity in the American Home Owners property by shorting the mortgage bond and going long the Credit Default Swap using Goldman Sachs Abacus Fund which was set up by him and John Paulson who handpicked the CDO’s that would be in the Fund. Between them they made around 23 Billion dollars. It has never been disclosed who the investors in the Paulson and Quantum Hedge Funds were but I would bet that if the records were provided that they would show SEIU, ACORN et al, would be in the mix. These people made billions by stabbing the people they purport to care so much about in the back and crashing the economy. These yahoos out in the street who don’t own squat and didn’t lose a dime are being supported with those same billions in Home Equity that Soros stole from the American People. Also, if these people were so concerned with how Wall Street and the Banks were bailed out, where were they after Rick Santellis’ Rant of 2/19/2009 which started the Tea Party? Why has it taken these little morons almost 3 years to wake up? There is only one way to stop Soros and that is through a Class Action Lawsuit by the people who lost their homes as a direct cause of his actions.

      Agreed. But don’t just look at the Secy of State project. Elections can be stolen by voting machine fraud, electronic machines with computer screens. It is relatively easy to infect a machine with implanted software that can change the counts. It has been demonstrated by university research. Google it. Beck should be researching the corporations who make and supply computerized voting machines to local governments. Who is on their boards, how does Soros invest in them? Also who maintains the machines locally… Soros minions? Keeping a low profile indeed, according to plan ahead of the elections.

    George Soros isn’t stupid. The old Stalin strategy of throwing endless human waves at a target was costly in both human lives (material assets), and money. Although it is true that Quanity has a Quality all it’s own, it is the least efficient way of doing things.

    George Soros is a billionaire. He didn’t get that way by being inefficient. He isn’t married to institutional thinking where he creates somthing and keeps it afloat whether it works or not because to let it fail would somehow indict him. He isn’t scared of trying stuff and failing.
    If a project isn‘t working he’ll defund it, shut it down, and try somthing else. If somthing shows promise, he’ll pump money into it and ride it as long as he can.

    In other words even though he might aspire to usher in some “Worker’s Paradise”, he is in his heart, and thinking a true Capitolist. And what makes him really dangerous, is that he has a realistic sense of himself. Although many call him arrogant, I think he has a refreshing lack of pride. He might be truly evil, he might want to be king of the world, or at least a power behind the throne, but he is realist through and through, which means he see’s clearly.

    And that makes him pretty dangerous.

      Remember he was one of Hitler’s sintches. Soros is of German/Jewish descent who as a young teen was recurited by Hitler to betray his fellow Jewish relatives and neighbors. His reward was the confiscation of their possessions. He was interviewed on one of the gov. controlled news sites, was asked about his actions of betrayal. He didn’t hesitate in sayting that he would do it again! We can call him the “big’ Satan and Obama the “little” Satan.

      We know that when Hairy knuckles Reid said early on in the senate race in Nevada, “Oh I will win” it sent chills down the backs of all of us witnessing his quiet hissing statement. Several of us said, “There is something not right here.” Then on election day, many of us turned in license plates of cars of people who did not live in Nevada but voted, people at all precincts complaining that when the tape rolled it showed an erroneous vote for Reid, or a machine that malfunctioned after the vote was cast, a sudden car accident near a polling place in Southern Nevada that knocked the power out and the machines had to be reset……..all reported to the Nevada Republican Party but they looked the other way. Then the devastating news that Reid won over Angle by less than 40,000 votes. A few months later the Nevada Democrat Party purged 40,000 from their voter records. Why didn’t they do that before the election..hmmmm? Nevada’s Secretary of State has been very silent about this issue and all issues concerning the thousands of Nevadans complaining about voter fraud.
      Then Nevada was the only state to have an initiative on the ballot for the people to lose control of judges that are elected….it had Soros’ fingerprints all over it….luckily it got voted down…..or it would have set a precedence for the states’ secretary of state to appoint the judges……hmmm first get a crooked sec. of state in and then he/she appoints the judges…..solid control of the people

      Told y’all. Soros is right. It’s always been about who counts the votes.
      Who created the software?
      Who’s updating the software?
      Who’s setting up and maintaining voting machines here in the U.S. ?
      Who’s punching in the numbers on Election Day?
      Who’s handling the paper ballots? Absentee ballots?
      And who signs off on everything before reporting the results?
      It will probably look like this:
      1 vote for Romney = 1.5 votes for Obama
      1 vote for Paul = 2 votes for Obama
      Or something like that depending on how close the powers that be want the race to be.
      Diebold, the European manufacturer is no longer in the business, but I gurantee that their machine will still be used across the nation come election day. You might want to ask the voting site manager where you vote, but they probably won’t know or care.

      Sorry, I meant to say that Diebold in no longer in the voting machine business, but they are still very much in business and I’m sure are heavily contracted by our bling government. Check out what American agency soooo approves of their products. That‘s right the stinkin’ GSA. The same one mired in recent scandal.

    I hope this means that Missouri’s Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, Congressman Russ Carnahan’s sister will be defeated in 2012. Especially since she has said she will not purge the voter registration rolls of dead people.

      Oh, you mean like shortly before the election a strike will be ordered on Iran, and then by Executive Order the President will maintain the Presidency to see through the conflict? And then a lot of generals who have businesses on the side will see dollar signs, and so they won’t do the right thing?

    Maybe Soros channeled the Secretary of State Project fund to the Wisconsin Recall; I have read, though cannot quote the source, Soros donated 10mill to defeat Scott. WHatever, He is involved- go figure.. Wisconsin is very important only as a trophy… If the people of the State don’t want Scott Walker.. Well gee, I can offer a light. This is just incomprehensible.. Public Unions are not getting the shaft…everyone is having to contribute and do more.. These disgraceful Public Sector Unions are OB..
    As far as this Sec Project, I am surprised anyone had the cahones to research and publish this story … Bene!

      Here is what I find the most intersting…..they (Soros) spend millions (or billions) and makes little or no headway…therefore his ROI is operating a defcit…….failing to control us “rebel” masses.
