Dejected Ed Schultz Admits: ‘Not Going to be an Easy Night for Many Broadcasters Who Are Liberal’

Early Tuesday evening, the crew over at MSNBC was optimistic and giddy. Chris Matthews even told fellow host Ed Schultz, after Schultz delivered a passionate prediction that Wis. Gov. Walker was “on the ropes,” that he could be president of the AFL-CIO union. But by the time Schultz took to the air for his regular TV program, the recall election had already been called for the governor, and Schultz was dejected. And then he delivered a sad eulogy.
“This is not going to be an easy night for many broadcasters who are liberal,” he said during his show open. “This is not going to be an easy night for this broadcaster. To say that I’m shocked and stunned is pretty much an understatement.”
He also didn’t seem to have a great outlook for 2012: “It is going to take an insurmountable amount of effort on the ground for the progressive movement and the Democrats to do what they need to do in 2012.”
Of course, he also needed a scapegoat, so he blamed Citizens United and money in politics:
But I also think that it is a real warning to Americans that money is now infiltrated into our political system like we have never seen before, and the ruling by Citizens United is now a real message to every American.
[...]
And this is also a real message to local politics that this money will filter down, and Citizens United will affect federal and state elections over time.
He also admitted that if this is a template for November, “I believe it’s some pretty damn scary stuff.”
Watch his monologue below:
But those weren’t his first comments. When the race was first called for Walker, fellow host Rachel Maddow got Schultz’s immediate reaction, and the host made the claim that Walker could be “indicted” (it seems figuratively) in the coming days (while also admitting it was a hit to the labor movement):
Newsbusters reacts:
Isn‘t it amazing that folks like Schultz weren’t at all concerned about the money in politics in 2008 when Barack Obama spent more than any candidate in history?
And isn’t it also telling that folks like Schultz are never concerned about all the money labor unions spend on Democrats in elections across the fruited plain?

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 8:24amPersonally, I think the real message was that the constant barrage of BS that led up to this recall election drove many, many more voters to the polls than would have otherwise bothered to vote- and many of those voters pulled the lever for Walker to end this garbage.
The left has awakened a sleeping giant, scared straight by what’s going on in Europe, and I consider this election a harbinger of things to come if the Left continues on their current path…

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 8:50amVery well said Beekeeper, I think you nailed it. Ever since Barack Obama was elected, more and more Americans are waking up to what liberalism is really all about. The recall election in Wisconsin has accelerated the awekening process by showing what the union leadership is all about. This video does an awesome job of showing the bizarro world we’re living in right now. It needs to change in November. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ovzRxR4PI0

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 10:37amReal American voters came out…the ones who do the heavy lifting, the ones who don’t ask for government help in the mean time. This ones who love their country, their communities, want to see a country left in better shape for their own children and grandchildren. The real voters spoke! This recall was nothing more than about the people being organized to take government over despite the voters who overwhelmingly voted for Walker in the first place. Elections mean someting and they need to be respected unless of course there is fraud.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 10:50amThe left is getting more and more bold because they think that all the liberal media coverage represents the entire nation. This a good thing because the average American is getting a good look at who the liberal left really is and who they are aligned with. All of the left’s lies and cruel tactics are being shown for all to see. I hope they keep it up so more real people can be awakened.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 10:50amI switched it over to MSNBC to see what kind of coverage they were offering as the numbers kept getting higher for Walker. The repressed psycho Larry O‘Donnell wasn’t even mentioning the election and no ticker tape was playing underneath his show. He was covering Romney’s supposed record in MA. It was as if the election had never taken place.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 7:44pmBingo! If you could have done anything to motivate the Tea Party and Conservatives this was it. Now “forward” from Wisconsin to the rest of the country. Ironically, today the Illinois teachers unions are announcing plans to strike if they do not receive 30% more salary and benefits. What excellent timing! The Illinois governor was castigating Walker less than a week ago, now let’s see what he does. I’m taking the Badgers over the Illini and the Packers over the Bears.

I mean they were losing their collective heads trying to figure how he was winning with a comfortably large margin after they had spent the last two hrs before the polls closed touting how bennit would most likely take it according to the exit polls results and how much Wis LOVED BO. It was good tv, I have to say.
