Delaware Mother Pleads Guilty to Trying to Sell Her Child

It’s difficult to tell whether this story is an argument for or against the adoption process.
Last October, 34-year-old Bridget Wismer of Delaware was arrested at her home for trying to perpetrate a disturbing and decidedly non-maternal transaction. Specifically, Wismer was trying to sell her two-month-old baby to a complete stranger for $15,000. And yes, that’s all. $15,000 is apparently the going rate for children in Delaware.
Wismer had been caught on surveillance camera arranging the final steps of the transaction with John Gavaghan of Philadelphia, who was also arrested at the time.
Now, these two parentally impaired individuals have pled guilty to what they had previously only been accused of. NBC10 Philadelphia reports:
The baby boy was born on Aug. 31 and according to court papers, Wismer didn’t want the child.
In early September, detectives were tipped off by Wismer’s grandmother, according to police. They investigated, but couldn’t substantiate the baby-selling accusation. In late September, police got another tip that led them to the place where Wismer and Gavaghan met to finalize the deal.On Sept. 30, two days after Gavaghan had allegedly taken the 1-month-old boy home, police arrested Gavaghan at his Philadelphia apartment and placed the baby in foster care. Wismer was arrested that same day at her home. The two were indicted by a Superior Court Grand Jury on October 24 to dealing in children, falsifying a birth certificate and conspiracy.
During a court appearance today, Wismer pleaded guilty but also mentally ill to one count of falsifying a birth certificate, which is a felony. Prosecutors agreed that Wismer’s guilty but mentally ill plea was appropriate in light of a psychological diagnosis provided by Psychologist Dr. Abraham Mensch. Gavaghan also pleaded guilty to one count of falsifying a birth certificate. Both Wismer and Gavaghan face up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine. Their sentencing is set for August 17.
If you’re worried about the child, no worries. Delaware’s Department of Family Services is keeping him completely safe.

Posted on June 11, 2012 at 2:25pmAnother scam to leech from the public. Unknown lets the father who should be paying off the hook. These people should be jailed. Most of them know who the father is, but will not tell. Take a blood sample from the child and see if it matches up with some known criminal for I would almost guarantee that most of the fathers have a police record. Put the father to work supporting his own children by paying the court and they can collect from social services. These children are not the responsiblity of the American tax payer. These fathers could be tracked by using DNA that would nearly match up with the father and take it from there.

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 6:15amI know mentally ill people are described sometimes as having incredible physical strength. IApprehending these ill people can necessitate the use of several authorities in order that the patient be apprehended and subdued. I wonder if this strength also implies somehow a mental dimension, brought about by singleness of purpose, or hyperfocusing as it’s also caused. I don’t know, just a possible idea. . .

We have had some pretty devastating things happen to children here in Washington State, we need another system for taking care of these defenseless gifts from God.

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 5:53amThe wonderful child protective services where the very things they claim to be protecting children from happen such as sexual and physical abuse. In some cases children are removed from homes because of unproven allegations of abuse. Children removed from the biological families end up with what could be a lifetime of struggling with psychological damage. And it is very difficult to sue state child protective services even if they engage in gross violations of civil and constitutional rights as they have been granted special sovereign immunity by state legislatures.

Report Post »She’s obviously a democrat. If she had any fuctional brain cells, (which no democrats have), she’d ask Eric Holder to defend her.
The problem is,
One; she’s white. Holder hates whites!
Two; She’d have to prove that she voted for Obama. (Card check, anyone?)
And Three; She’d have to prove through a DNA confirmation that the baby was at least 1/2 black as is our feerless leader or it’s at least 1/32 Cherokee as Lizzy Warren claims to be.

Whats the difference if she is a democrat or not. I think you have missed the point.
This young women rather didn’t appreciate the gift she was given, or didn’t understand the gift she was given.
Their are no real winners here. There is only hope, that this child will go to a family that will understand and appreciate the gift God has given. And it is my sincerest prayers, that who ever receives this child will hold it and love it all the days of his life. Because this little Boy has never knowen any love at all……

Report Post »According to RadNet, the United States’ radiation monitoring network, South Bend, Indiana experienced extremely high levels of radiation last night — up to 100 times higher than safe levels.
Last night, live records for a radiation monitoring station near the border of Indiana and Michigan have shown radiation levels as high as 7,139 counts per minute (CPM). At 1:55 a.m., Eastern time, the radiation level was at 2,558 CPM. The level varied between 2,000 CPM and 7,000 CPM for several hours.
Normal radiation levels are between 5 and 60 CPM, and any readings above 100 CPM should be considered unusual and trigger an alert, according to information listed on the radiationnetwork website.
The online geiger counter monitoring network operated by Black Cat Systems also reported unusually high radiation levels in the same region.
This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
UPDATE: As of 2:45 a.m. Eastern Time, the radiation level for the station in Northern Indiana had risen to 3,989 CPM. RadNet has yet to issue a statement in response.

UPDATE: RadNet has issued the following alert:
Very high reading in South Bend, IN station this evening. Reason unknown. Station unresponsive to contact at this late hour. Since this same station has triggered the Alert system before, which Alerts may have been false, and because his current readings do not appear to be corroborated by nearby stations, we have disabled his station for the time being. Will report back when we know more.
UPDATE: RadNet issued the following statement this morning:
The alert level reading last evening appears to be a false alert from an equipment malfunction. Here is the station’s report:
“out of control readings on the GeigerGraph screen from about 11:30pm local time that occurred while sleeping. My apologies to all. I have no idea what caused this. Shut down GeigerGraph and restarted. Readings from the Geiger were in the normal range (the Geiger operates on A/C). All cable connections are tight and not loose. Am speculating between the GFI and USB Adapter and some sort of voltage spikes. The uninterruptable power supply UPS had lost power and had died – a tripped GFI. I am not going to leave the system running while not at home until I can determine and fix the problem.”

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 1:31amEDIT 14 pwns EDIT 7: Redditor says: Central Ohio here. I work at a large public university (not hard to guess which) next to a small research reactor that’s located near the back of campus. There’s (normally) a large fleet of hazmat response trucks and trailers parked in the nearby lot. Most of them are NIMS early response vehicles funded by Homeland Security (says so right on them). Haven’t seen them move once since I started working a few years ago. Tonight? All gone. edit: will try to get pictures tonight/tomorrow
Report Post »EDIT 7 comes first: To those who say it was still a malfunction:
You miss a VERY elementary point: one detector was privately ran in South Bend. That one “malfunctioned”. But then the data is corroborated by a federally ran detector in Ft Wayne, a good drive away. And then more data as time goes on from other detectors. Like here, where one can see the drifts over Little Rock, AR 12 hours later, which lines up with the wind maps. For those that don’t seem to know, that’s a long way away from Ft Wayne. And the “average” CPM level in Little Rock has been around 8 CPM for the past 12 months.
and to those that point to the pinhole coolant leak in Dayton:
that pinhole leak couldn’t possibly account for the levels seen here, and it was in hot standby mode (hot & pressurized, but no fission) because it was being refueled. And the workers would have triggered alarms if they were contaminated.
EDIT 11 also jumps the line: On a tip, I called the Traverse Cit
