Dem. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) was reprimanded after taking off his suit jacket and giving a speech on the House floor in a hoodie, even after told to stop:
The Washington Times has more:
“May God bless Trayvon Martin’s soul, his family and — [inaudible]” Rush said as he was removed from the House floor this morning for wearing a hoodie.
Rush was wearing a grey hoodie under his suit jacket. He took off his jacket, pulled the hood over his head and put on sunglasses while saying “racial profiling has to stop, Mr. Speaker. Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum,” he said.
“The member will suspend,” Rep. Gregg Harper, R-Miss., the man serving as speaker pro tempore at the time, said. “The member is no longer recognized. The chair will ask the sergeant-at-arms to enforce the rules on decorum.”
Rush violated the rule against wearing hats in the House chamber.

There is no hope for America without morality and morality is grounded in the word of God. I went to “Monumental” last night. I have not set foot in a movie theater for years. What was on the screen was connecting with everyone there, Things I had learned in the last few years thanks to Glenn Beck and David Barton others were hearing for the first time, like the fact that the Congress of the United States of America paid for and distributed bibles – so much for the lie of separation of church and state. Bibles were bought and paid for by congress. Let that sink in. CONGRESS! Audible gasps and wow’s went through the place. Anyone who cares about this country and the direction it is going needs to see this movie. There is no fixing the economy without fixing the foundation, the bedrock on which this country was founded. I challenge all you who are especially antagonistic to the idea of this being ONE NATION UNDER GOD, go see the movie and then ask yourselves what you disagree with. You might be suprised.

And no one has ever asked, “Why don‘t you say ’I Do’ when you take your oath of office?” In the end, it’s very telling. Dress and Comportment
Members are required to dress appropriately, which has traditionally been considered to include a coat and tie for male Members and appropriate business attire for female Members. Members should not wear overcoats or hats on the floor while the House is in session. No eating, drinking, or smoking is permitted, and the use of personal electronic equipment, including cellular phones and laptop computers, is banned on the floor of the House. The rule does permit the use of “unobtrusive handheld electronic devices” such as a Blackberry.
A Member must stand while speaking and address the Chair in their remarks (Mister or Madam Speaker; Mister or Madam Chairman). They must also refrain from addressing other Members, the President, the gallery, or the television viewing audience.
Members are required to avoid walking between the Chair and any Member addressing the House and Members should not walk through the well of the House when Members are speaking
