Dem. Rep. Kucinich Throws Obama’s Own Anti-War Words Back at Him

Now that Obama has committed to military action in Libya, it will be interesting to see if Democrats and anti-war pundits line up to criticize him. Considering an interview today with Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), maybe, just maybe, it will happen.

Appearing on Fox News today, Kucinich opened up his interview by reading a quote from none other than Barack Obama, who back in the day criticized President Bush for military action in the Mideast:

“I’m gonna read this and then tell you who said it. ‘The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.’ Now that was Barack Obama who said that on December the 20, 2007. We’ve got to be very sure here that we follow the Constitution, and president Obama didn’t do that.”

Kucinich also had this nugget: the intervention we’ve already committed to will cost “half-a-billion dollars.”

“We cannot be the policemen of the world, as tragic as the situations are across the world, the United States cannot afford nor do we have the authority to go and intervene,” he added.

As Gateway Pundit reports via USA Today, back in 2007 Obama said preventing genocide is not enough to justify military action:

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.

“Well, look, if that’s the criteria by which we are making decisions on the deployment of U.S. forces, then by that argument you would have 300,000 troops in the Congo right now — where millions have been slaughtered as a consequence of ethnic strife — which we haven’t done,” Obama said in an interview with The Associated Press.

I too think that Obama should be impeached for his actions and inaction. There is only one problem with that though, that would make the Vice-President the leader of the US. Is anybody ready for President Joe? I don’t think so. Vote in 2012 instead!

You need to do a lot more than just impeach. He needs to be reomoved from office and tried for sedition and treason. His entire staff needs to be indicted on the same charges. All his associates and relationships ivestigated, indicted, and then seize all their assetts. And that include Soros.

Once the robbery and destruction is stiopped, we can work on going and getting our money back. Goldaman Sachs, AIG, UAW, SEIU to name of few. Your treasure and your lives should do.

What’s it gonna take America? Watching your Wife and Daughter raped in front of you by ******* filth in the name of Sharia? This is serious business Our President, His Wife, His Friends all would let this happen.

    What’s it gonna take?

And now in Libya the radicals are losing, so dear leader uses our military to tip the scales of an internal civil war under the guise of humanitarianism.

I don’t like Muammar either, but do any of you really know who it is we’re helping?

Well, according to HuffingtonPost blogs, it’s split with the left but who knows. I thought I’d see more that would be yelling against it, but not as many as I thought. Too many out there that are just “for” anything he does, no matter what or if it makes any sense and/or if the “right” is for it, they’re automatically against it….no thought involved. Many stating they‘d still vote for Obama even though they disagree with some of his stuff but say they’d never, ever vote Repub…..simply because….they’re Repub. You have to admit though that both sides are very guilty of this. Politics in America today is more “My team vs your team” than anything else. The people that actually look at the issues and act according to them are too far and few between to make a difference.

Here is when we need to look in the history books… They have been fighting in the middle east for centuries. As Christians we got involved during the Crusades. Many Christians died and yet never changed in the middle east… There as been many other small wars here and their and all fail to change whats going on over there.

So my question is this, What do we think being the world’s police, fighting wars we have no business fighting is going to change? Not a single thing! get our boys and gals home, protect our waters, our lands and let the rest of the world kill each other off.

America start minding your own business not everyone elses and we wont be in the shape we are today!

Back when this conflict started in Libya, 90% of the people here on the Blaze stated that Barack Obama was slow in responding and that he we should impose the No Fly Zone.

The Republican leaders ( Newt, Palin, Huckabee, Romney) have all criticized Obama for not doing anything on Libya and not doing it sooner.
Hannity ( another idiot ) was just last week stating that Obama, should be leading and not waiting. the United States needed to be helping the rebels in not leading the crusade in overthrowing Khadafi.

I personally don’t think we should be involved but I think Obama was forced into this. Not by the Right but by NATO.
NATO was going to enforce the no fly zone with or without the United States.
A NATO response without the United States would look really bad for Obama.

Gingrich accused the Obama administration of being “confused,” saying, “The idea that we’re confused about a man who has been an anti-American dictator since 1969 just tells you how inept this administration is.

Palin ( another idiot ) is blaming Obama for high gas prices. Really Sarah???
Everyone in this country knows that the oil companies don’t need an excuse to raise gas prices.

Sarah Palin appeared on FOX News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine and was asked if she thought Obama should send troops into Libya or at least make it a no fly zone.

Palin, who all along has stated that NATO and our allies should look at establishing a no-fly zone reiterated that fact to Judge Jeanine.

“Certainly a no fly zone,” Palin said. “I hate to say, jeez, more troops on the ground. You know send more of our brave young men and women over there in Libya. When yes, 41 years of Gadhafi. He’s got to go.”

Palin stressed how it was unfortunate that our administration took so long to finally have any kind of full throated support for ousting Qaddhafi.

These are two idiots that know nothing.

Hey WHITETEAPARTY….. Why the Name calling?

The AMERICAN Oil companies DO NOT have enough market share to determine oil prices in a global market. BIG OIL is now STATE RUN OIL you dope. (see now you have me name calling!)

“Of the top 20 oil and gas producers worldwide, 14 are national oil companies or newly privatized national oil companies, according to PIW. PIW’s ranking shows that Saudi Aramco, Gazprom, NIOC, Pemex, Sonatrach, INOC (Iraq), PetroChina, KPC, Petrobras, Petronas, Yukos, Lukoil, PDV (Venezuela) and NNPC are among the most important oil and gas companies in the world. PIW’s ranking on all measures ranks Saudi Aramco, PDV, NIOC, Pemex and PetroChina in the top 10 oil companies in the world.”

“Wood Mackenzie Consultants notes that producing countries are getting more preferential financial arrangements from these firms who do not use rate of return criteria to guide their operations (see Energy Compass March 12, 2004 “Corporate Majors Under Threat”). Many of these emerging national oil companies are bankrolled or have operations subsidized by their national governments, with geopolitical and strategic aims factored into investments rather than purely commercial considerations.”

In other words, it is geopolitical considerations instead of market forces that are taking over the production and pricing of oil.

And yes Sarah was wrong, Obama isn’t solely responsible for high gas prices here. We have the environmental lobby as well as the EPA to thank for that too, and they have been hamstringing domestic production for years now.

But I DARE YOU to show me where Obama is doing anything on the domestic front to dramatically affect the price of oil in any way that will make it go down. Short Term or Long Term. Go ahead…. TRY. All I remember coming out of his mouth consistently is the desire to see us off of Petroleum… that he wasn’t against gas prices going up, just that he didn’t like how quickly they rose.

To WhitTeaParty: Bomb fuel depots, no planes flying or tanks moving. Bomb ammo depots, no bombs dropping or taknks shooting. All that’s left is man-on man fighting. Rebels against Kaddafi’s army. An even match and, at least, chance for the rebels.

Well whether we should be there or not is something we don’t know at this point. Why? Because Obama hasn’t made a case to the either congress or the American people. He has been on vacation, watching the NCAA touney and golfing though. All of you on the left have been had. This guy is a hypocrite of the highest order. A scum bag who will lie to his own mother’s face just to get what he wants. There has NEVER been a worse President in all of American history. There is only one word to describe Obama – Pathetic. It should be clear to even the ignorant left that this guy doesn’t have the intellectual capacity to be President. An absolute failure as a leader. Anyone who voted for him is a moron. Period.

Frankly if we have intel that the Goon in charge of Libya is responsible for Pan Am 103. He should have been dead already. Anything less is a failure of leadership.

      @WhiteTeaParty

We, (I am part of the 90% you referred to), felt that IF this was going to be done, it had to be done BEFORE Khadafi leveled the rebels and civilians with airstrikes and armor. You are right about one thing, Obama was dragged into this…which is why many are questioning his leadership and the timeliness of his decisions.

Ill-fated US foreign policy a prophetic instrument?

President Ronald Reagan bombed Libya in response to a terrorist incident. When President George HW Bush initiated Operation Desert Storm, it was in response to a specific request to prevent Saddam Hussein from taking over Kuwait. When President George W Bush attacked Iraq, it was after Hussein said he was developing weapons of mass destruction and intended to use them against America and her allies–such as Israel. When he attacked Afghanistan, it was in response to the export of terrorism that resulted in the 911 attack on American soil. But now an American president is attacking Libya, which in of itself may have prophetic significance pointing to the coming of the Day of the Lord.

The White House decision to bomb Libya is a strange one. First, this president’s ties to the Libyan dictator go back to the years when the president-to-be was attending Jeremiah Wright’s church in Chicago. Wright, who is tight with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, is also a friend of Libya’s Muammar Qadhafi. Qadhafi even called the American president “our son” in a letter pleading that the US stay out of the Libyan conflict. Farrakhan, who once referred to the American president as the “Messiah”, has angrily rebuked the president saying, “you can’t order him to step down and get out, who the hell do you think you are?”

Qadhafi claims, and there have been media reports to confirm the claims, that al Qaeda is behind the rebellion in Libya. Qadhafi told the American president in his letter: “Al Qaeda is an armed organization, passing through Algeria, Mauritania and Mali. What would you do if you found them controlling American cities with the power of weapons?” We have an American president, who strongly criticized the Afghan and Iraqi war efforts against terrorism, bombing his friend in Libya, as al Qaeda waits in the wings to take over. In other parts of the Middle East, the US is assisting in toppling longstanding governments with al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood waiting in the shadows to take over.

Perplexing as it seems, there is some clarity. WikiLeaks released documents indicate the US has been involved since 2008 in destabilizing Middle Eastern governments in hopes of replacing them with democratic governments. This strategy was proven dangerous by the Palestinian Authority–where terrorists were elected. The current White House appears to have accelerated this strategy despite obvious indicators that the Muslim Brotherhood and its terrorist allies are powers in waiting. Ezekiel 30 talks of how “even as the day of the Lord is near” Egypt’s “foundations shall be broken down,” and Libya, “and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.” America may be instrumental in bringing this about.

white tea party……….you said………Palin ( another idiot ) is blaming Obama for high gas prices. Really Sarah???
Everyone in this country knows that the oil companies don’t need an excuse to raise gas prices.

It is not the oil companies that raise the price.

Good to hear that he does seem to recognize that the Constitution is being trashed by Obama. Too bad, though, that Dennis could ignore the same Constitution when helping to force Obamacare down the throats of all Americans. Evidently he will honor the Constitution only when it suits his personal agenda.

And in this case, Rep. Kucinich would be right…

Obama took the time to consult the Arab League, and he took the time to consult the United Nations; but he did not take the time to run it by the U.S. Congress!

Clearly, what Barack Obama did with Libya was unConstitutional; and this President should be impeached.

You know, I really am sick of these “anti-war“ and ”pro-war” labels. These labels don’t make any sense. I’ve never known anyone to be “pro-war”. That would mean that that person loves war and wants to see it happen. The label “anti-war” is also dumb, because unless someone is against all wars, defensive or aggressive, they can’t be “anti-war”. A true anti-war person would denounce all wars, even one’s where we were acting defensively. The real labels should be “pro-defense“ and ”pro-roll-over-and-do-nothing“ or ”anti-defense”, if that’s easier. To be honest, no one I know is “pro-war”, because I’ve never met anyone who wanted and loved wars. Conservatives aren’t pro-war, they’re pro defense and pro military, which are measures to keep peace. Liberals want to limit military spending and act like every war is unjustified if America is a part of it. Frankly, if we were to be invaded, Liberals would probably support our invaders. So Liberals in fact aren’t pro-peace, anti-war or whatever, they simply believe that peace would come through no military, although any person with common sense can clearly see that for the adolescent thought it is. In real life, a military is the only thing that keeps our enemies from walking over here and killing all of us- and that seems to be something that Conservatives understand and Liberals take for granted.
