Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin (Iowa) delivered a curious speech to an outdoor gathering in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. The event, which was a rally for Medicaid, included Harkin delivering this surprising line: “we need some of you probably getting arrested for doing things you shouldn’t be doing.”

It is slow but much more cruel. It has the added benefit that he can’t be made into a martyr. He’ll just be an old has been that his party will desert.
I don’t know that he is a crook like Senator Dodd. Or that he harasses women like Senator Dodd & the Late Kennedy. So there is no quick fix. Beside Democrats have a “get out of free card”, when it comes to sexually harassment.

There are exceptions, I am sure, but the Tea Party events about which I have read or attended generally speak to economic and moral issues. And above all, Tea Party people hold the Constitution and Declaration of Independence in very high regard. Often liberals, especially Obama, bemoan the fact that they can not act unilaterally, ignoring the Congress and other Constitutional constraints. George III thought the same thing.

Visibly taking part in illegal activities would make it hard for him and other progressives to excuse the behavior as a reaction to the villainous activities of (ENTER CONSERVATIVE GROUP HERE) and thereby pass all blame along to the victims rather than the instigators.
As a completely “impartial observer” though; he will gladly, but reluctantly, agree to legislate more control and power in order to restore order and ensure social justice so it will never happen again.
