Democratic Congressman: It Only Takes 51 Votes to Repeal Obamacare

Democratic Congressman Henry Waxman of California may have inadvertently handed Republicans their single greatest motivator for desiring control of the Senate come November. Waxman, in an interview with the CSPAN show “Newsmakers,” disclosed that if Americans did vote for Romney and Republicans took control of the House and the Senate, Obamacare would be “wiped out.”

This was evidently supposed to scare the viewers. We suspect that fear may have been the opposite of the message that people took away. Indeed, coming from Waxman, whose aversion to honesty is so strong that he had planned to hold “show trial” hearings that would’ve basically put companies on trial for explaining to their customers how much the health care would cost them in taxes, this is probably the most unexpected good news opponents of the health care law will hear all day.

Even more ironically, Waxman’s arguments against Republicans taking control of the House sound like they were badly copy-pasted from the talking points disseminated by Republicans regarding the “death panels” provisions of Obamacare. The Washington Examiner reports:

“I think they could do it,” Waxman told Newsmakers when asked about reconciliation. “I think the American people have to understand that if they vote for Romney and they vote for Republicans to have control of the house and the senate, there’s a good chance that the health care bill will be wiped out and all these benefits will be wiped out.”[...]

“[T]he states will have to tell a lot of people at the very bottom — very poor people who are often disabled — that you’re not going to get care anymore in order to keep tax cuts for billionaires,” he said, citing Republican budget plans for Medicaid.

Waxman’s persuasive powers notwithstanding, we’ll take our chances with Paul Ryan over the Independent Payment Advisory Board. In any case, it’s quite clear that this November is going to be an extraordinary decision point.

    Have we forgotten?

Obama is illegal…and Congress AND the Supreme Court KNOW IT!
Is anyone still unclear why Obamacare passed?

    Hard to swallow, huh?
An illegal potus omits the congressional process in passing laws,
and the people are having to fight for our rights & freedoms that are
being threatend by an illegal potus.
Can it get anymore complex? HELL YES IT CAN!

So the government requires hospitals to treat people without insurance. And then they are shocked that people take advantage of the system and to fix the problem….We get health insurance mandates (Romneycare and Obamacare). But the government created the problem!!

I just realized it the other day – let me know if i am missing anything….
It’s called the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act and it requires hospitals to treat people without insurance. Turns out it was passed in 1986. 1986, guess who was president at the time….RONALD REAGAN!! And to make it worse, the republicans had the Senate!!!

Folks, we cannot afford another election full of progressives. Demand the republican party remove McConnell, Boehner, and Romney. We need real leaders, like Amosh, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee. You are either a Constitutionalist, or nothing

Everybody with a brain, knows the score on Obama’s legality; but the media is covering him as fast as a cat covering crap on a tin roof. The Democrats are willing to forfiet the US Constitution to bring about the Social Adjustment that they are pushing for, and finaly the media left covering the fruad are just too small to make much of a difference. Everybody knows, but that ship has sailed and it will not be called back.
There are hundereds of reasons to vote for Romney, or against Obama; why rant on an issue that will not matter?

Fairly conservative guy myself, and I see what you are saying, however; would you really want a hospital system where an injured person arrived and services were withheld because said person did not have insurance? Do you not think that a nation as rich as this one can not afford to treat emergency cases with or without insurance? Believe me, emergency room visits are not the problem with our health care system. Now, using the emergency room for routine medical care is a problem. Why do hospitals do that, to get the medicad and medicare money from the government.
We can stand to treat our uninsured emergency patients, if only we can get the government out of medical insurance intirely.

That is the system we had before 1980 – was there some mass deaths in hospital parking lots that i am not aware of? Do you realize that charities used to cover that situation? Yes, stuff like catholic hospitals would take the needy and provide services. And it was A LOT cheaper

So much easier and cheaper to give each poor family an insurance voucher. I am in favor of eliminating all employer provided insurance; the current cost to companies should be provided per capita to employees and individuals would then buy their own insurance. Presented with enticing each and every individual to purchase a policy, insurance companies would compete vigorously or go out of business, like auto insurance. Throw in tort reform and insurance costs would drop dramatically even while requiring pre-existing condition and 26 year-old “child” coverage.

The fact is we can repeal Obamacare completely, so long as Congress and the White House are fully taken by the conservatives, and we hold the electeds feet to the fire to ensure they complete the task of its removal completely.

Health Care reforms are needed, just not the means and ways of absolute authority dumped onto the Feds by the five SCOTUS activists; the reforms need to be dealth with portion by portion, with most of the input coming from the states, and under their control to meet the needs of their areas.

It can be repealed if we keep up the pressure whether it‘s this election or 2 election’s from now. The senate races are almost as important as the white house and continual remove and replace should be the strategy for the house. This journey has just begone. Remove and replace with tea party candidates at all levels of Government continuously. Eventually we will break the back of the machine. And I think the Democrats need a tea party as well. The ones that are not down with socialism but do believe in government solutions more than small government liberpublicans. They can begin to take their party back and soon enough we will all be much closer in views and we can have real debate without tearing the country apart. But, they must return to center/left as we are still center/right. Most of us that is.

Take a deep breath Chips, it’s just an idea. The tea party may welcome all but lets face it, not to many dems are members of their local tea party. A combined effort could accomplish the same thing but again not many dems are lining up with the tea party. They could call it what ever they wanted if it gets them closer to the center. I see a great steady effort underway to replace those in the Republican party that need to be gone and the same happening with the Democrat party except the replacements are progressives. Not to many old school reasonable dems left. It’s just an idea.

FYI – the main job of Congress is to make laws. Ron Paul’s record shows he is a terrible Congressman. Add in that he is one of the largest creators of PORK in Congress, and lying about it to boot, and no sane person would ever claim Ron Paul is a good candidate for running a lemonade

Ron Paul has made a 30 year career out of sponsoring bills that reduce the power of the federal government, increase the sovereigntyof the states, getting the US out of the international organizations, tax cuts, reducing inflation, sound money, outlawing abortion, homeschooling, etc
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_legislation_sponsored_by_Ron_Paul

Do you think Congress has done a good job over the last 30 years? If the republican party has not let his bills pass – then that is an indictment of the republicans – not Ron Paul. Is it better to do the right thing, or to go along and keep passing terrible laws?

Are you kidding? Henry Waxman motivated the Republicans. First of all the republicans can not get a thing done. Second I am not certain that they will win the House, Senate and WH. 51 votes does not repeal the law because if the TOTUS is still in office he has the veto so they would need a super majority to override the veto.

If the republicans use the budget reconciliation process as they have discussed to subvert the super majority requirement then they are hypocrites as they screamed bloody murder when the democrats were going to use the process to pass the d@mn bill. Stand on the merit of repealing the bill and do it the correct way.

I am so sick of the do as I say, not as I do actions of both political parties and the sheeple. Why is it ok if “your’ party does something and not ok when “their” party does the same thing? Where is the honor and principle in our representatives and more importantly with ourselves? Now what comes from Washington it is nothing more than gimmicks and lies! It took him quite a while to have it sugically removed. He claimed he like the smell of fresh Corinthian leather, while someone was still sitting on it. Because of the incident his Nostrils are perma huge. However, I am told if you look closely you can still see the seat protruding from his nose. Today to throw him off his game, all one has to do is toss a bike seat in Henry’s general vacinity and. he’ll go orgasmic loosing his train of thought, pick up the seat and stalk off to some darken corner. That’s Henry! By the way, the reason he has that brain dead look is he apparently got a load (whiff) of a seat used by Nancy Pelosi. Anyway that’s what I heard.

@CandianLady and Goodstuff, tell me how many people you know voted for Romney in the Repulican primaries in the last 6 months? I can tell you I know of none. How many people showed up at Ron Paul speaking locations? Thousands per city. How many people showed up at Romney speaking conventions, less than a few hundred.

How many Romney 2012 stickers have I seen? None in my large suburban area. How many Romney yard signs have I seen? None, again. How many Ron Paul Primary voters do I know? 6. How many yard, election signs? 7. How many bumper stickers? a lot for Ron Paul, none for Romney, and a lot for Obamma. How many supporters for Ron Paul? Millions. Just Youtube Ron Paul and Youtube Mitt Romney and see who has the best hits and positive videos on Youtube. Not a perfect litmus test, but relatively accurate. Between the bumper stickers, yard signs, known voters and speaking event turn outs, I think you two need to take a harder look.

Talking to some of the Pauler’s as I call them is like talking to a liberal. Same old predictable posts. And for the Pauler’s, if Paul had won the nomination, and don‘t you dare feed us the he’s still in the race or wait till some court case is decided, if he had won Obama would be guaranteed a second term. His brand of libertarianism is not popular despite what your opinion is of Dr. Paul. Heck, I have a pretty high opinion of Dr. Paul but that doesn’t mean he can win either the primary or the general. Dr. Paul himself said when he actively stopped campaigning that he doesn’t have a shot at winning the nomination but can influence the platform at the convention. Rand said the same thing just recently. It‘s time for the Pauler’s to get a grip on reality and help defeat Obama. Your either part of the solution or part of the problem and right now most of you are definitely part of the problem. Your vote for Johnson, who I like as well, or write in Paul will help Obama win a second term. You’re damaging the libertarian platform and you need to stop it!

How many of you Romney bot people have a Romney yard sign, bumper sticker on your car, and donated real hard $$cash$$ to Romney’s campaign? Just curious so I know what I’m up against (including the Bill O’reilly and Sean Hannity MSM and their brain washed bots that just kept repeating “he’s unelectable” for the last 7 years).

I’m not a Romney bot Scottsman. The only one that came the closest to my ideal candidate in the primary was Dr. Paul whom I voted for and donated to in the primary. And I’m not a purist like many. I did not decide Paul is unelectable nor did Orielly and Sean Hannity. Parts of Paul’s platform are very popular and others are very unpopular with the masses despite what you or I think. Maybe this will be different in the future but not if you take your ball and go home because you didn’t get to pitch. Right now it‘s more important to defeat Obama and if you can’t see that there’s nothing left to discuss.

@CHALKDUST, I respect your opinion and lively debate. However, you lost credibility in your last post when you said “Your either part of the solution or part of the problem and right now most of you are definitely part of the problem. Your vote for Johnson, who I like as well, or write in Paul will help Obama win a second term. You’re damaging the libertarian platform and you need to stop it!”

That is what the status quo’ and MSM says. You are not who you say you are.

I would like to make a correction to the article, it should say “Waxman, in an interview with the CSPAN show Newsmakers, disclosed that if Americans did vote for Ron Paul and real conservatives took control of the House and the Senate, Obamacare would be wiped out.”

Stop drinking all of the kool-aid. Two sides of the same coin.

We had nine candidates running for the nomination and Paulbots said they were all absolutely identical and all neocon, Bilderberg, NDAA progressives who were against liberty, freedom and the constitution. According to Paulbots, Ron Paul is the only conservative politician in the world. How could he occupy the white house, the House Of Representatives and the Senate at the same time?

Oh, that’s right, Ron Paul is a god. Sorry, I always forget that part.

I’m beginging to think you are the one with the Ron Paul divinity complex

Yes, most of the 9 were different shades of progressive. I dont know why you bitch and moan about it – its not like you want our vote. Just be happy with your Mittens and tell me why he is worth voting for. Personally, i could have voted for Cain, Bachmann, Perry (maybe), or Santorum (maybe) – but you guys let that establishment door slam you in the face

@QPWILLIE and GOODSTUFF, do you have any thing of substance to say? Can you actually debate on principle? And QPWILLIE, do you have any clear data to back up your claim of “Paulbots said” besides online material that can be fabricated by any one? Impostering as any one? I’ll answer that for you… Nope you can’t.

@GOODSTUFF, keep your recipe for your liberal buddies. They wil need it.

“its not like you want our vote.”

I don’t need your vote. I’m not running this time around.

“tell me why he is worth voting for.”

First, you tell me why 0bama is worth voting for. He’ll be getting your vote via a write-in for Paul.

I have no proof that you wrote that comment. Maybe someone broke into your house while you were gone and got on your computer. …Or somebody might have a gun to your head, telling you what to type.

How do you know it’s me typing this?

@QPWILLIE, we will write in Ron Paul, and then guys like you who used to cry “he is not relevant, he is unelectable“ will turn around and cry ”it was Ron Paul’s fault President Obama was re-elected”

I have a reality check for you QPWILLIE, why don’t you fake conservatives and Mitt Romney band wagon hoppers who want Obamacare to stand… just join the only real conservative, Ron Paul, and get him the Republican Nomination? You just can’t keep denying your innermost desires there brother patriot.
