Dems Become Weight Watchers…Chris Christie Weight Watchers

Is there a coordinated effort in some sections of the media to focus attention on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s weight?

Earlier today The Blaze published a story addressing an opinion piece from Eugene Robinson, focusing on Christie’s weight and printed in the Washington Post.

Robinson was not alone in his “weightism.”

On Bloomberg.com, Michael Kinsey opened up his latest column with this rather strong statement:

Look, I’m sorry, but New Jersey Governor Chris Christie cannot be president: He is just too fat. Maybe, if he runs for president and we get to know him, we will overlook this awkward issue because we are so impressed with the way he stands up to teachers’ unions. But we shouldn’t overlook it — unless he goes on a diet and shows he can stick to it.

Kinsey claims to have forgiven President Obama for smoking – and he hints that Obama is still lighting up – despite what we’re told. He’s also forgiven Bill Clinton for his sexual indiscretions, but Christie’s weight is not something the liberal writer is willing to let slide.

Controlling what you eat and how much is not easy, and it’s harder for some people than for others. But it’s not as difficult as curing a chemical addiction. With a determined, disciplined effort, Christie could thin down, and he should — because the obesity epidemic is real and dangerous. And the president inevitably sets an example.

The timing of these two articles from Kinsey and Robinson could lead one to speculate that left-leaning media outlets may have received “talking points” suggesting that Chris Christie’s weight could be an issue in the campaign, should he choose to jump into the race. (We will know for certain on Sunday.)

But two articles do not a conspiracy make… add considerable TV time devoted to this topic and you might wonder if a coordinated effort is at work here. MSNBC‘s Morning Joe kept coming back to Christie’s weight and even had Rev Al Sharpton joking that Christie needs to be locked up (like he was) in order to lose weight.

We invite you to participate in this multi-question Blaze Poll about the topic of weight and our elected officials.

Perhaps we should have a non-smoking president as well? Obama is setting such an example… Where are the Democraps to comment on that?

This guy is a moron. He says that Christie‘s weight isn’t due to a chemical addiction? WRONG! All addiction is chemical in one way or another. When people who are addicted to eating eat (especially with fatty foods), their brain releases endorphins (basically morphine) which can be highly addictive. I have had problems in the past with both eating and smoking and I’ll tell you honestly – quitting smoking was WAY easier than limiting what I eat.

My thoughts exactly. Mr. Kinsey is obviously ignorant of the chemical mechanisms involved with food addiction.

As a less than perfect person I know that I can eat the same things or even better than a skinny person and still be very overweight. We’re all different. Health does matter to an extent but character and good sense are most important.

Don’t let yourself be tricked into thinking this guy is better than he is though just because you want to defend him from these ridiculous attack. He has been weak on immigration, in favor of gun control and refused to stand against the ground zero mosque. He actually stood up for the mosque. I checked because everyone keeps making him sound perfect. I found a link that shed some light on his stances. http://conservativenewjersey.com/the-myth-of-christie-conservatism-intro

Republicans don’t want Chris Christie to run, trust me. He came out in favor of the Ground Zero mosque and has said the fear of sharia law coming to our country is crazy talk. He’s in favor of civil unions for gays. Etc. As far as I can tell, he‘s too honest about his opinions to cater to the fringe and pretend he believes things he doesn’t, so he won’t run, and you wouldn’t vote for him if he did.

So it’s ok for the liberals discriminating about weight?…..that people have the mind of a little child……ohh wait, I’m wrong, the mind of a little child is pure and innocent….they are just retarded, and somehow they are becoming desperate and the lack of arguments or real facts brought them to complain on a daily basis with things like criticizing weight and using the last resource: the racist card.

I’m glad the liberals are being themselves openly. Their offensive speech affects not only the governor and his supporters but the 33% of adult Americans who are also overweight. I hope all those voters remember that next November.

There have been so many attacks on Christie’s weight yet he has lost so many since becoming Governor. I agree that he should take care of New Jersey and not join the race. I was in Utah when Huntsman ran off to China and left us hanging. Then I moved up to Alaska right after Palin left her governorship. The people up here were irrate that she left. He should stay where he is and do his duties to his state instead of leaving them hanging. One of the reasons I don’t like having people who are in positions of leadership running for president, they leave their constituents hanging.

I give extra props to Cain and Romney for campaigning on their own time and dime.

Have you seen the new Romney campaign ad showing that Vicente Fox praised Perry‘s illegal’s tuition program – TX Dream ACT: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/sep/romney_ad_perry.html

“Look, I’m sorry, but New Jersey Governor Chris Christie cannot be president: He is just too fat.”

I’m just wondering if he meant to say: “Look, I’m sorry, but me, the bloomberg “writer” Michael Kinsey cannot be a writer: I am just too stupid, unthinking, ignorant and imcompetent to be one.”

I wouldn‘t say that he was because I don’t know him and don’t have any proof but just wondering if that is what he really meant to say.

Using this logic, Obama was elected for his physique, not his brain, which explains why we are in this economic crisis, although it has been done by design. Personally, I read up on Obama before I didn’t vote for him (The Case Against Barack Obama) and I would rather have a plump conservative POTUS than a thin socialist/Marxist/communist POTUS.
